Abstract

This research aimed to determine the social, economic, and environmental impact of Saddang River sand mining on local communities and the Pinrang district government. Primary data collection used field surveys to obtain supporting data on economic aspects consisting of production capacity, costs, selling price of sand at the miner level and market price at the consumer level, number of grains, and various other economic values such as indirect value and indirect use value. The primary data collection method uses a total sampling of 80 miners operating in the research area. Consumer data uses a field survey method with 8 hours of observation per day. Saddang River sand mining provides great socio-economic value and environmental impact, directly or indirectly. This significant socio-economic value and impact, if not accompanied by good management, can result in over-exploitation, which impacts the physical and ecological damage of the Saddang River. On the other hand, the high rate of sedimentation from upstream of the Saddang River results in shallowing, so sand mining activities help normalize the Saddang River. Therefore, to continue providing economic benefits and the Saddang River to avoid physical and ecological damage due to mining activities, sustainable management of Saddang River sand mining is needed.

Abstract

Workload is an effort to detail the components and target volume of work in a certain time unit and result unit. Performance is the appearance of the results of personnel's work both in quantity and quality in an organization. The ratio of nursing staff needs is based on the number of patients treated still not meeting the standard. On the one hand, it is said that in providing services to patients, quality must be improved. The type of research used is " Cross sectional" with a point time approach where researchers only take measurements once during the observation. The research location was carried out at the inpatient installation of Nene Mallomo Sidrap Hospital on November 1-30, 2010. The number of samples in this study was 52 people. From the results of the statistical test analysis using Chi square, it was found that there is a relationship between nurses' workload and nurse performance at Nene Mallomo Hospital, Sidenreng Rappang Regency in 2023. The suggestion in this study is expected to regulate nursing staff in terms of quantity and quality so as to reduce the heavy workload which in turn will improve work performance, job satisfaction, and have an impact on improving the quality of nursing care and patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that attacks the joints and is common in older adults. This disease causes pain, swelling, and limited movement, which can reduce the quality of life of older adults. Based on data from the Mattombong Community Health Center, there has been an increase in RA cases in the last three months, most of which occurred in the elderly population. This study aims to determine the relationship between dietary patterns and physical activity with the incidence of rheumatoid arthritis in the elderly in the Mattombong Community Health Center working area. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and a total sampling technique involving 47 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of RA (p = 0.004), as well as between physical activity and the incidence of RA (p = 0.003). Elderly individuals with poor diets and low physical activity were more likely to experience severe RA symptoms. The findings of this study highlight the importance of integrating nutritional counseling and physical activity promotion into primary health care services for the elderly. Strengthening health education programs at the community level can help prevent and control RA more effectively, thereby improving the overall quality of life among older adults.

Abstract

The Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) in hospitals is designed to manage workplace safety and health risks to create a safe, efficient, and productive environment for hospital personnel, patients, visitors, and the surrounding community. Based on data from 2024, Lasinrang Pinrang Regional General Hospital recorded 3 occupational accident (KAK) cases, including 1 needle stick injury and 2 chemical spills, while in 2025, there was still 1 reported case. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the OSH Management System at Lasinrang Pinrang Regional General Hospital in 2025. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using interviews, observations, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The results indicate that the implementation of OSHMS at Lasinrang Pinrang Regional General Hospital has not been fully optimized, primarily due to limited human resource capacity and a lack of understanding among staff regarding OSHMS procedures and policies. From a theoretical perspective, this study contributes to the understanding of the critical role of human resources in the effective application of hospital-based OSH management systems. Practically, the findings highlight the need for systematic capacity building, structured supervision, and institutional commitment to continuous OSH improvement. Strategically, it is recommended that the hospital management develop a comprehensive OSH roadmap supported by adequate budget allocation, regular training, and performance evaluation mechanisms. These measures will strengthen the institutionalization of OSH culture, enhance compliance with national safety standards, and ensure sustainable implementation of the OSH Management System within the hospital environment.
