Abstract

Psikologi Lintas Budaya lahir sebagai reaksi kenyataan bahwa banyak teori psikologi yang dikembangkan di negara Barat dan dianggap bersifat universal tidak dapat diterapkan di negara dengan budaya yang berbeda. Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya psikologi lintas budaya dianggap sebagai disiplin psikologi untuk mempelajari persamaan dan perbedaan dari fungsi psikologis individu di berbagai kelompok budaya dan etnik (Berry, 2002) sehingga memungkinkan para ilmuan psikologi untuk menemukan perilaku yang bersifat universal (etik) dan membedakannya dari perilaku yang bersifat khas (emik). Ada dua tujuan yang hendak dicapai dengan menggunakan teori psikologi lintas budaya yaitu dapat menguji apakah teori atau pengetahuan psikologi yang dikembangkan di suatu budaya dapat digeneralisasi ke konteks budaya lain, dan dapat diperoleh variasi yang lebih luas dari gejala yang diteliti sehingga para ilmuan psikologi dapat terhindar dari etnosentrisme. Etnosentrisme berarti suatu kecenderungan menggunakan kelompok sendiri sebagai ukuran dalam menilai kelompok lain, (Setiadi, 2008). Konsep etik dan emik dalam psikologi lintas budaya adalah merupakan pilihan tepat untuk memahami kearifan lokal. The field of cross-cultural psychology is the scientific study of variations in human behavior, taking into account the ways in which behavior is influenced by cultural context “ Cross-cultural psychology is the empirical study of members of various culture groups who have had different experiences that lead to predictable and significant differences in behavior. In the majority of such studies, the groups under study speak different languages and are governed by different political units” (Brislin, Lonner, & Thorndike, 1973, p. 5). Perilaku manusia sangat beragam merupakan studi psikologi lintas budaya dengan pendekatan konteks budaya setempat yang mempengaruhi perilaku individu maupun kelompok. Kita dapat menemukan nilai-nilai budaya setempat yang memiliki persamaan dan perbedaan terhadap kelompok budaya lain dalam berbagai bidang misalnya bahasa, gaya kepemimpinan, politik dan lain-lain; misalnya gaya kepemimpinan paternalistik, tutur bahasa lembut dan keras, stratifikasi sosial-ekonomi dls.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dan menguji aplikasi Tik Tok sebagai sarana yang efektif dan relevan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan public speaking OMK Santo Yakobus Tanah Miring Merauke. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara yang dibagikan kepada 20 anggota OMK Santo Yakobus Tanah Miring. Hasil pengolahan data, dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, menunjukkan bahwa bagi anggota OMK Santo Yakobus Tanah Miring Merauke, aplikasi Tik Tok dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu media yang efektif dan relevan untuk melatih dan meningkatkan ketrampilan public speaking. Penggunaan aplikasi Tik Tok sebagai sarana pelatihan public speaking harus secara terus-menerus, sehingga menjadi suatu pembiasaan agar tujuannya dapat tercapai. Temuan ini mau menjelaskan bahwa anggota OMK Santo Yakobus Tanah Miring, sebagai generasi milenial, cukup terbuka terhadap perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, memanfaatkannya secara bertanggungjawab serta mengikuti perkembangan dari waktu ke waktu. Bagi para pendamping OMK, temuan ini menjadi masukan yang sangat berguna sekaligus kemendesakan agar juga trampil dan kreatif menggunakan berbagai aplikasi sebagai media pembelajaran dan pelatihan, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan kebutuhan, harapan dan dunia orang muda, yang salah satunya adalah kemampuan untuk berbicara di depan umum, dengan Tik Tok sebagai salah satunya.

Abstract

Background. Religious education plays a crucial role in shaping moral and cultural values, especially in diverse regions like Papua, Indonesia. Traditional methods of religious education may not adequately address the unique needs of Papuan youth, who are deeply rooted in local wisdom and cultural values. The development of an AI-based platform offers an innovative solution to personalize and enhance learning experiences, ensuring that religious teachings are relevant and engaging for this demographic. Purpose. This study aims to design and develop an AI-based platform that customizes learning experiences for Papuan youth, integrating religious education with local wisdom and cultural values. The platform seeks to improve learning engagement, foster a deeper understanding of religious teachings, and preserve cultural identity. Method. The research employed a design-based research methodology, combining AI algorithms, educational content analysis, and participatory design involving local educators and community leaders. The platform was tested with a sample group of Papuan youth to evaluate its effectiveness in personalizing learning experiences. Results. The AI-based platform demonstrated a significant increase in student engagement, with personalized content tailored to local customs and religious values. Feedback from participants indicated a strong connection between the learning material and their cultural identity. Conclusion. The AI-based platform is an effective tool for customizing religious education for Papuan youth, blending modern technology with traditional wisdom. This approach promotes a more engaging, culturally relevant, and personalized learning experience.

Abstract

Millennials and Gen Z as the future of the Church have unique characteristics. These characteristics pose a challenge for traditional catechesis to reach and engage them in the proclamation of faith. This article explores the concept of contextualization of catechesis as a solution to overcome these challenges. Contextualization of catechesis can be defined as the process of adapting the message of faith to better suit the cultural and social audience. This contextualization of catechesis aims to make catechesis more relevant, interesting, and easily understood by the millennial generation and Gen Z. This article discusses catechesis contextualization strategies that can be applied, such as: understanding the characteristics and needs of millennials and Gen Z, utilizing technology and social media, involving millennials and Gen Z in the catechesis process, empowering creative and digitally literate catechists, and strengthening cooperation between family, Church, and school. In conclusion, contextualizing catechesis is an important and mandatory effort to reach and involve millennials and Gen Z so that they do not feel alienated in the Church. The author uses the term: “In through their door, out through our door”, because by applying the right strategy, contextualization of catechesis can touch the hearts and minds of millennials and Gen Z, helping them to grow in faith and Christian values.
