Abstract

Rural areas are still the mainstay target of exploration program from various stakeholders. Local communities as owners of rural areas often do not get proper returns from these explorations. One of the reasons is that the local community lacks of knowledge and not much involved in regional development. The success of rural area development is strongly influenced by the perception of the local community. Therefore in the development planning stage, perception should be one of the indicators that must be considered, as well as for eco-rural tourism planning. The aim of the study was to analyze the perception of local communities in eco-rural tourism planning from socio-cultural aspect. The research was carried out in Kerinci District, Jambi Province, using close-ended questionnaire instrument with One Score One Indicator Scoring System assessment pattern. The results showed that the local community stated the socio-cultural aspect was relevant to be developed in accordance with the values that had developed in the rural area. In addition of the interpretation that local communities were eager to jointly develop their rural areas into eco-rural tourism areas by meeting the indicators that have been formulated. This study concludes that local communities have great opportunities to develop their rural areas according to the concept of eco-rural tourism.

Abstract

Rural is an area that should be conserved. Conservation in the sense that its development must be in accordance with the concepts and potentials that have been passed down from generation to generation. The success of rural area development is strongly influenced by the orientation of stakeholders, including the government and NGOs. The purpose of this study is to analyze the polarization of the government and NGOs orientation towards the development of eco-rural tourism in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. This study used an instrument in a closed questionnaire with a One Score One Indicator Scoring System assessment pattern, with aspects assessed including socio-cultural, conservation and environmental aspects, ethnic politics, economics, regional development, tourism, and landscape ecology in six villages. The polarization of government and NGO orientations is measured by perception, then analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis statistical test by quantitative and comparative descriptive methods. The results showed that the government and NGOs stated that the concept of eco-rural tourism was relevant to be built and developed in rural areas. The direction of polarization from the orientation of the government and NGOs shows the same direction, namely a positive direction and a strong polarization scale. This means that the government and NGOs have agreed to develop their rural areas into eco-rural tourism by meeting the indicators that have been formulated. The perception of the government and NGOs will strengthen the application of this concept. This study concludes that the government and NGOs have an excellent opportunity to create collaboration in developing rural areas in accordance with the concept of eco-rural tourism.

Abstract

The success of urban ecotourism in tourism villages requires community participation, both in developing tourism activities and businesses and in tourism management. The research aims to analyze three aspects, namely natural and cultural potential, the obstacles faced by the community in managing tourism villages, and the potential for community participation in managing tourism villages. The research was conducted in two tourism villages located in the center of Bogor City, namely Pulo Geulis Village and Labirin Village. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires to community respondents and analyzed descriptively using the Kruskal Wallis test. The study shows that cultural potential is more likely to be utilized in an effort to improve the community's economy and attract tourist visits. Community participation is still limited to Kompepar membership and food and beverages providers. The low participation is strongly suspected because the income derived from the tourism business is still unable to meet daily needs. Continuous coaching and increasing synergy between communities in tourism villages is an important thing to do to increase community participation in tourism development.

Abstract

Situ Gede offers various ecotourism resources, such as research forests, Situ Gede Lake, natural landscapes, and diverse types of flora and fauna that attract tourists. To increase the number of visitors, these resources need to be developed effectively. As tourists visiting Situ Gede have different characteristics, motivations, and preferences, these differences must be studied to develop ecotourism in Situ Gede. The research aims to identify the motivation, preferences, and evaluations of visitors that can be used to develop ecotourism in Situ Gede. The study uses a 1-4 Likert scale, and data analysis involves descriptive methods, calculating standard deviation values, and Pearson Chi-Square analysis. The research findings indicate that the primary motivation for respondents to visit is physical. Three tourism activities are influenced by age, namely meeting friends, being with family and attending meetings, and culinary tourism. The activities around the lake that are most popular with visitors are taking selfies, enjoying the lake's beauty, and having a picnic in a natural setting. The most popular activities in the Research Forest are relaxing and enjoying the forest atmosphere, observing the variety of plants there, and taking photos with a forest background.

Abstract

Rural areas are increasingly the focus of exploration by various stakeholders. However, local communities, as landowners in these regions, often do not reap the full benefits. This issue stems from their limited involvement in regional development and a lack of awareness about ongoing projects. Local communities play a crucial role in the success of rural development, and understanding their attitudes is vital. This study aimed to explore local community attitudes toward eco-rural tourism development in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. A closed-ended questionnaire, designed with a "One Score One Indicator" system, assessed various factors including socio-cultural aspects, conservation, ethnic politics, economics, regional development, tourism, and landscape ecology across six villages. The analysis of local community orientation was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods and One-Way ANOVA statistical tests. Results indicated a positive polarization in community attitudes across all villages, showing strong support for eco-rural tourism. By focusing on the identified indicators, local communities are motivated to collaborate and enhance their rural areas through eco-tourism initiatives. The findings suggest that these communities possess significant potential to develop their regions in line with eco-rural tourism principles. Additionally, the insights gained can inform the creation of eco-rural tourism programs that emphasize community involvement and leverage local strengths. This approach aims to ensure that rural communities benefit from the exploration and development occurring in their areas.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a decline in tourist visits, significantly impacting the tourism industry, including at Samosir Regency. This region has a prominent tourism sector that is essential for both the government and the local community, with attractions such as the Sigale Gale Statute being affected. The Sigale Gale statue is a unique tourist attraction with the potential to enhance the tourism sector in Samosir Regency. This study explores the history, uniqueness, and management of the Sigale Gale Statue and analyzes the internal and external factors influencing its management to formulate an appropriate development strategy. Data on history, uniqueness, and management were obtained through in-depth interviews, while internal and external data were collected from questionnaires distributed to 200 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SWOT Analysis with IFAS and EFAS matrices and a SWOT matrix. The analysis results indicate that the development strategy for the Sigale Gale tourism attraction falls in quadrant 4, requiring the implementation of a turn-around strategy. This strategy aims to maximize existing opportunities to mitigate weaknesses in management.
