Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the perception or opinion of French tourist about Bali, whether on its nature, environment, community, or about tourism in Bali. In addition, this research aims to verify the assumption that Bali is truly “The Island of Paradise”. In fact, based on the result of the survey, French tourists have a good perception on Bali. They perceived Bali as a place that has so many natural beauties, a unique island, and different from any other place so that tourists can feel the comfortable, safe, peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. They were also impressed with the hospitality of local communities.The research is obtained through the procedures of data collection through observation, interviews, and documents from the empirical world. The method used in this research is a design of a survey that was conducted through a questionnaire distributed to French tourists who have visited Bali. The result of the survey is then included in the statistics analysis, which is described descriptively.This research was also conducted through the literature of tourism studies as a supporting research. Data collection is done by collecting and analyzing the data through the literature relating to issues to be investigated; such as the textbooks, scientific journals, and other sources, such as the utilization of Internet.

Abstract

Fernando Meireles' "City of God" is one of the most highly regarded crime films in the early 2000s. The criminal genre, especially in this film, shows many scenes of violence against children, women, and the community around Rio de Jeneiro. The violent scene continues from the beginning to the end of the film. The purpose of this research is that the writer wants to analyze the violence contained in the film City of God, both physical and psychological violence. This research uses the descriptive quantitative content analysis method which aims to study and analyze communication and movie scenes systematically and objectively to the messages seen. The results of this study indicate that the film City of God shows quite massive scenes of physical and psychological violence against fellow gangsters, drug dealers, minors, innocent families, and even harassment in the form of rape against women. The conclusion from the analysis of this research is the need for several elements of society to be involved in studying film, sensitivity to violence, and the need for age restrictions in watching certain films, including the film City of God.

Abstract

Communities with high literacy rates usually have low crime rates and high intelligence. This is precisely the responsibility of universities and schools in increasing reading interest and literacy skills in a country. From this context, it is hoped that the educational community will really apply it, especially in juxtaposing it with online learning and several applications. The purpose of this study was to collect information about the preferences of critical vocational students in their reading interests and reading skills. It is very useful to foster interest in reading and online learning to increase cultural values ​​and social literacy. The reading literacy development model used is the Plomp model: preliminary research, prototyping, and evaluation. The Evieta application, which is online learning belonging to the Vocational School of IPB University, is expected to fulfill these goals. Educators are expected to use related applications in their learning and lead reading and writing movements in schools. The results of the validation of teaching materials show that the Evieta IPB application is important and can be tested.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze "Ende Tanganku Na Metmet", which is a traditional song in the Toba Batak language by using translation techniques into English. Translation techniques are the methods used by translators to convey messages from the source language to the translation language. Translation techniques can explain the essence of the object of translation which is applied at the level of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences. The theory used is the Newmark translation technique. This research method is descriptive analysis. Abstract

Not only entertain and please the audience, especially during this pandemic, creative dance performances can also promote and preserve the richness of art and culture in Semarang city. These show the importance of performing arts to be held. Event Organizers need to plan a strategy to attract tourists. This research was conducted to determine the creative dances in Semarang city and to know the tourists’ preferences in their decisions to visit creative dance performances. The methods used in this research were observations, interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires. The data was processed using the Likert scale and One Score One Criteria Scoring System. The results show that Semarang city has eight creative dance resources. Tourists prefer to visit a dance performance held for one day on weekends for 3-5 hours to celebrate the anniversary of Semarang city with their friends. Tourists prefer the performance to be held at the Semarang State University Auditorium. They prefer to buy the tickets directly at the venue or online and pay via an electronic money application. The results of this study can be used as a reference for Event Organizers in planning dance performances in Semarang city. ABSTRAKPergelaran tari kreasi dapat mempromosikan dan melestarikan kekayaan seni dan budaya sekaligus memberi hiburan dan kesenangan bagi wisatawan, terutama pada masa yang masih pandemi ini. Hal ini menunjukkan pentingnya pergelaran seni tari kreasi untuk diselenggarakan. Pihak penyelenggara perlu menyusun strategi untuk menarik minat wisatawan. Studi ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui sumberdaya tari kreasi Kota Semarang dan mengetahui preferensi wisatawan dalam keputusannya untuk mengunjungi pergelaran tari kreasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan penyebaran kuesioner. Data diolah secara kualitatif deskriptif menggunakan skala Likert dan One Score One Criteria Scoring System. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa Kota Semarang memiliki delapan sumberdaya tari kreasi. Wisatawan memilih untuk mengunjungi pergelaran tari kreasi di Kota Semarang yang diadakan selama satu hari saja pada akhir pekan selama 3-5 jam dalam rangka merayakan hari jadi Kota Semarang. Wisatawan memilih mengunjungi pergelaran di Auditorium Universitas Negeri Semarang bersama teman dengan tiket yang bisa dibeli secara langsung ataupun secara online dengan metode pembayaran melalui aplikasi uang elektronik. Hasil studi ini dapat dijadikan acuan bagi penyelenggara event dalam merencanakan pertunjukan seni tari di Kota Semarang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the emotional character of Go Moon Young, who is the main character in thedrama "It's okay to not be okay". This drama tells about a person named Go Moon Young, a character whohas an antisocial personality disorder and has a dark past that makes Go Moon Young have a bad temperand don't care about other people. Abandoned by his parents when he was young, Go Moon Young livedalone into adulthood and managed to become a famous children's story book writer. In this study,qualitative methods were used, statistical methods and other calculations did not give results, and theresearcher tried to understand the meaning of the events of the interaction of human behavior in certainsituations, and interpret your point of view. The result is a very emotional influence on the socialenvironment such as being shunned by the surrounding community, less sensitive to others, hurtingyourself and always feeling lonely.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the pretest and posttest on learning English, the English for Communication course at the Vocational School of IPB University. The methodology used is a case study. This type of research is quantitative research. Data collection was carried out by conducting tests and interviews. The subjects of this research were students of the Digital Communication and Media Study Program at the Vocational School of IPB University, totaling 300 students. From the results of this study, it shows that there was an increase in the value of the pretest and posttest. The average pretest score is 61, while the average posttest score is 80. From this process, it is known that the pretest can be used as a learning control tool. Lecturers can see that the learning techniques used can increase students' understanding of English. In addition, from the interview process, it is known that the pretest and posttest can be used by lecturers to find out students who have weak abilities and students who have high abilities.

Abstract

Tourist visits are an important aspect of maintaining the existence of tourist destinations, including in the Garut Regency area. This district has great potential in developing village ecotourism. Sindangkasih Tourism Village, one of the tourist villages in Garut Regency, has great potential for developing village ecotourism. The research aims to identify ecotourism resources and identify tourist satisfaction and preferences using a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-7 from 30 tourist respondents. Data collection was carried out over three months, from April to June 2022. wild fauna as well as the seven elements of culture. The results of the tourist assessment regarding satisfaction with the highest score on natural attractions, namely river landscapes and natural scenery, and cultural attractions, namely art. Tourists rate very satisfied with transportation to tourist villages and tourist routes. Tourists at a general rate are satisfied with the facilities and infrastructure in the village, besides that they are very satisfied with the tourism activities carried out at the Ngagogo pond, playing in the river and enjoying the natural scenery. The highest preference for tourism activities is enjoying natural scenery and playing traditional games during holidays taking into account the existence of the attractions provided.

Abstract

This report investigates the integration of interactive educational games aimed at enhancing English language learning in elementary level. Conducted at SDN Ciheuleut 2 in Bogor City, the study focused on three games—"Shout Out Loud," "Guess the Animal," and "Stack the Blocks"—specifically designed for vocabulary and language development. Employing pre-test/post-test assessments, the study aimed to uncover their impact on student proficiency levels. The results showed an increase in students’ test scores following the integration of these games, showing a 20.65% rise in overall test scores. Classroom observations also noted heightened student enthusiasm during class activities. These findings highlight the positive relationship between educational games and students’ language development, establishing an engaging learning atmosphere crucial for young learners' language acquisition.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates cultural and linguistic challenges faced by 45 junior cadets in global maritime education, focusing on English usage. Through interviews and focus group discussions, diverse English proficiency levels were identified among participants, highlighting the need for tailored language training programs. Communication challenges, particularly in understanding technical terminology and navigating cultural differences, emphasize the importance of targeted language instruction and cross-cultural training initiatives. Aligning with the International Maritime Organization's Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW), the study emphasizes the significance of linguistic competence and cultural awareness in ensuring safety and efficiency within maritime crews. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating language training initiatives into maritime education curriculum and fostering a culture of inclusivity and professionalism within the maritime industry.
