Abstract

Background: Today, many teenagers in Indonesia are using braces not as orthodontic appliances for the treatment of malocclusion but only as a ‘fashion’ . Dental treatment that carried out by incompetent operators can actually cause far greater dangers and losses. The impact that can occur due to the use of braces by dental technicians can arise from tooth decay, plaque accumulation, root resorption, bone resorption, inflammation of the supporting tissues of the teeth, to disorders of the temporomandibular joint. Method: The solution to the problem is carried out by educating the community, one of them are in Margasari, Tegal. Dental Health Education is carried out using poster media to make it more interactive, effective and efficient. Evaluation of the implementation is done by using a questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire were tabulated using SPSS with the Wilcoxon non-parametric test method. Result: wilcoxon signed rank shows that there are 0 negative ranks, 24 positive ranks, and 1 ties. Z value based on negative ranks are -4.322 Conclusion: There is an increase in knowledge of respondents after being given education.

Abstract

Background: Oral health is an important part of an individual's overall health. The presence of disorders of the oral cavity can significantly affect a person's life. One of the problems that often arise is loose teeth. Loose teeth can be caused by disease or injury to the gums and the supporting tissues of the teeth. The most common factor that causes loose teeth is the buildup of plaque or tartar. This condition can cause damage to the bone that supports the teeth and the periodontal ligament which causes the teeth to become loose. In addition, a person's systemic conditions such as diabetes mellitus also aggravate the condition of tooth mobility. Method: This community service is carried out by counseling, distributing leaflets, poster, quiz, and giving door prizes. The audience's level of knowledge related to dental and oral health, especially periodontal tissue was evaluated using a questionnaire Result: 1 respondent (3.33%) had low oral hygiene habits, 24 respondents (83.3%) had moderate oral hygiene habits, and 4 respondents (13.3%) had very good/high oral hygiene habits. Conclusion: Dental and oral health education in the community can effectively improve oral hygiene

Abstract

Background: Caries is a chronic disease of the dental hard tissue. The main cause of this disease is plaque bacteria, starting with the formation of white spot lesions due to the dissolving of minerals in tooth enamel caused by acids from the metabolism of bacterial carbohydrates. Caries often occurs in elementary school children because they tend to consume a lot of cariogenic food. The prevalence of caries can be reduced by preventive efforts. Several preventive efforts can be made by providing sufficient information, reducing cariogenic food consumption, always maintaining oral and dental hygiene and preventive dentistry actions. Method: This community service located at SD N Margasari 07. The counseling activity uses phantom and video animation followed by DMF-T/def-t data collection. Result: It was found that 41.8% of students had high category DMF-T/def-t index Conclusion: It is necessary to have a sustainable program to increase children's knowledge and awareness in maintaining dental and oral hygiene including promotive, preventive and curative efforts.

Abstract

Background: Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years and over. Along with aging, a person experiences various changes both in physical and mental and social conditions. One of the changes that often occur in the elderly is tooth loss. Based on RISKESDAS 2018 data, 79.8% of the population aged 65 years experienced tooth loss with 9% of the elderly experiencing loss of more than 28 teeth. One of the treatments that can be done in conditions of tooth loss is the use of dentures. Changes that occur in the elderly cause most of the elderly to experience physical decline which causes limited movement and lack of motivation in maintaining denture hygiene. This community service is intended to provide education related to denture hygiene so that the elderly can maintain and pay attention to the dentures used. \Method: This type of research is an experimental research conducted directly to Margasari Village. Efforts were made to include a survey of the prevalence of denture users in the work area of the Margasari Health Center, counseling and training on cleaning dentures, as well as follow-up and evaluation to see the ability of the elderly in the community service area to clean dentures after the program implementation. Result: the initial knowledge before the extension was carried out the value was 40% and after the counseling it increased to 70%. Before the counseling was carried out, the skills obtained were 10% and after the counseling was done it became 85%. The result of the p-value is 0.000, which means that there is a difference before and after counseling. Conclusion: Counseling about maintenance of denture users for the people of Margasari Village is very important. This can be seen from the level of knowledge and skills before from 40% and 10% to 70% and 85%.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction : Mandibular angle fractures frequently result from trauma and are often complicated by the presence of impacted third molars, which can increase the risk of infection. Case(s) : This case report presents 2 cases of mandibular angle fractures involving the third molar. In the first case, the tooth was not extracted during the previous surgery, and an infection occurred during 6 months post-ORIF. The second case, ORIF was performed along with the extraction of the third molar followed by inter-maxillary fixation, resulting in satisfactory outcomes. Conclusion: Tooth involved in fractures line can increase infection risk. Extraction of impacted third molars within the fracture line can help reduce infection risk and promote healing.

Abstract

Graphical Abstract Highlight Research 1. The saltwater fish powder is rich in omega3, vitamin D, and calcium which helps tooth amelogenesis. 2. LC50 Toxicity Test was carried out using zebrafish larvae (Danio rerio) with negative control, positive control using 3,4-dichloroanilin, and treatment groups with saltwater fish powder solution in 6 different concentration. 3. No signs of zebrafish embryo mortality or developmental abnormalities on treatment group from the lowest (125μg/ml) nor highest concentration (4000μg/ml). 4. Saltwater fish powder has proven lack of toxicity. Abstract Many nutrients found in saltwater fish are thought to promote amelogenesis in ameloblast cells during tooth development. Although its toxicity is uncertain, saltwater fish powder provided benefits for amelogenesis. Zebrafish embryos have complex metabolic pathways and comprehensive physiological reactions. The LC50 toxicity of saltwater fish powder on zebrafish embryos was investigated in this study. The aim of the of the study is to determine the effect of LC50 toxicity on saltwater fish powder on zebrafish embryos. The experimental research method was a post-test-only control group design, consisting of eight groups, namely the negative control and the internal group using embryo media, the positive control using 3,4-dichloroanillin, and the treatment group 125μg / ml, 250μg / ml, 500μg / ml, 1000μg / ml, 2000μg / ml, and 4000μg / ml using 384 zebrafish embryos. Saltwater fish powder is diluted and observed for 96 hours, controlled every 24 hours. It was found that saltwater fish powder was not toxic because there were no dead zebrafish embryos from various concentrations, negative control, and internal control.
