Abstract

Knowledge about sexual and reproductive health such as sexually transmitted infections has a huge influence all over the world. Seeing cases related to reproductive health in indonesia is still relatively high both among men and women. This study was conducted to see how different levels of knowledge in the field of reproductive health in students of the FK, FH and FE. This study uses descriptive Analytical Study type with cross sectional method. Data collection was done by using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability, after that univariate analysis and data processing with computerization. This study obtained the results for, the level of knowledge of students of the FK is good 97.7%, students of the FH is good knowledge of 75.5%, while students of the FE are 55.4%. It can be concluded that there is a difference in the level of knowledge between the students of the FK, FH, and FE, where it can be seen that the best level of knowledge is the students of the FK, followed by students of the FH, and sufficient level of knowledge is the students of the FE.

Abstract

Cholesterol can be attacked by CCl4 by increasing lipid peroxidation, where CCl4 causes an increase in acetate transport into the liver, resulting in an increase in substrate (acetate) which causes cholesterol synthesis to also increase. Based on previous research, the kalakai plant (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm.F) Bedd) has good antioxidants to ward off free radicals. Objective: To determine the potential of kalakai leaf infusion to prevent the increase in total cholesterol levels induced by CCl4. Method: True experimental research with a post test only control group design, using 24 white male Wistar rats weighing 200-250 g, divided into three treatment groups and a negative (-) group induced by CCl4. Treatment groups I, II, II were given kalakai leaf infusion at a dose of 300 mg/kgBW, 400 mg/kgBW, 500 mg/kgBW. This research was conducted for 15 days. Research Results: In the normality and homogeneity test, the sig>0.05 value was obtained, so it can be concluded that the data is normally and homogeneously distributed. Then the data can be continued for Oneway ANOVA hypothesis testing, and a value of sig>0.05 is obtained. Based on the research results, there was no effect from the kalakai leaf infusion and the hypothesis was rejected.

Abstract

Technological advancements, particularly gadget use, offer benefits but increase myopia risk. Myopia prevalence is rising globally, including in Indonesia, especially among adolescents and young adults. Factors like viewing distance, usage duration, room light intensity, screen brightness, and posture contribute to this trend. This study aims to determine the relationship between gadget usage and myopia among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Palangka Raya, Class of 2023. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 85 respondents. Data were collected via questionnaires and eye examinations, analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. Significant relationships were found between usage duration, room light intensity, screen brightness, and viewing distance with myopia. Posture during gadget use showed no significant relationship. Gadget usage activities are significantly associated with myopia incidence among respondents.

Abstract

Pregnant women are vulnerable to COVID-19 due to the physiological adaptive changes and immunosuppressive state during pregnancy. Various studies on COVID-19 patients have shown the prognostic value of elevated D-dimer. Pregnant women with COVID-19 experience hypercoagulability and hyperfibrinolysis, as indicated by the increased D-dimer levels that exceed normal limits during pregnancy. This study aims to determine the comparison of D-dimer levels based on the COVID-19 severity degree in third-trimester pregnant women at dr. Doris Sylvanus Hospital Palangka Raya. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. It used the medical record data of third-trimester pregnant women confirmed positive for COVID-19 who underwent D-dimer examination at dr. Doris Sylvanus Hospital, Palangka Raya, during November 2020–October 2021, and limited to be generalized to places that has similarity with this hospital. Descriptive analysis in this study used the Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney test. There is a significant difference in D-dimer levels based on the severity of COVID-19 with mild and moderate severity as indicated by the p=0.000 value. In mild and severe severity, the value of p=0.001 means that there is a significant difference, whereas in moderate and severe severity showed a value of p=0.101 which means there was no significant difference. Mild severity has median 1.21, Moderate 2.71 and Severe 4.20. D-dimer and SpO2 data showed non-normally distributed data. It is an important topic to be studied because D-dimer levels can be the parameter for patients with COVID-19 severity status.
