Abstract

This study discusses the use of digital instructional media to improve students' speaking skills in teaching speaking skills. Student’s problem in speaking is having limited vocabulary and shy to speak English. The TALK application is an application that can be used in teaching speaking. This aims to improve students' understanding of vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar. This article will discuss the impact of teaching speaking skills through the implementation of the TALK application on teaching speaking and provide learning media that are useful in improving students' speaking skills. The method used in this study is descriptive research. Participants in this study consisted of 40 students from Sport Study Program who took English courses. The results of this study found that the use of the TALK application is efficient to be taught in teaching speaking skills

Abstract

Speaking has the important role in life. All of students also need to know the importance of English speaking skill. By having good speaking skill, the students will be able to communicate each other and develop them to be wise speakers both in the class and daily life. There are many kinds of strategies applied by teacher in teaching speaking. But the teacher might select the strategy that appropriate with the students need. The strategy for teaching greatly affects the students’ understanding in a process of learning. The main purposes of this research what strategies teachers use in developing speaking skills and the reasons why students find it difficult to learn speaking. Researchers conduct the data by using observation and interview methods. From this study, researcher found that that the strategies used in learning speaking were role-play, group discussion and doing creative task

Abstract

This research focuses on developing podcasts in teaching speaking which is done through needs analysis. This research is the initial stage of the ADDIE model research development, namely the needs analysis stage. Stages of needs analysis is done by survey method which is done by interview and distributing questionnaires. Interviews and questionnaires were used as data collection techniques. Interviews were conducted to dig deeper into information related to students' difficulties in interacting in speaking classes and to analyze needs for podcast development. Questionnaires were used to obtain quantitative data regarding students' needs for podcast development.

Abstract

Metode Total Physical Response adalah salah satu pendekatan terbaik untuk pengajaran bahasa pada siswa sekolah dasar karena melibatkan koordinasi perintah, ucapan, dan gerak. Dengan demikian, metode ini membantu siswa sekolah dasar khususnya di kelas rendah lebih mudah mempelajari bahasa Inggris. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah ini adalah untuk mengimplementasikan pendekatan TPR untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris kepada siswa SDIT Adzkia Bangkinang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan wawancara kepada siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa menunjukkan respons tidak hanya dengan gerakan fisik atau non-verbal, tetapi juga dengan respons ucapan atau verbal ketika metode TPR diterapkan. Dengan menggunakan metode TPR tidak hanya terbatas pada materi yang diberikan selama pelajaran bahasa Inggris namun juga berguna untuk berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi dengan siswa di luar kelas dan membantu siswa memahami bahasa Inggris
