Abstract

People living with HIV (PLWH) have a complex problem with their disease including stigma and psychological problems. This research focused on measuring level of self-esteem, perceived human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) stigma, social support, and quality of live (QOL) among PLWH in Surabaya, Indonesia. Comparing part of social support which were by family and by friends would be explained. Our study used a cross-sectional correlation design. Variable self-esteem was measured using State Self-Esteem Scale by Heatherton and perceived HIV stigma by The Berger Scale, the social support was the multidimensional scale of social support by Zimet and WHOQOL-HIV instrument was by WHO. Univariate analyses and multiple regression analyses examine between predictors. The existence of moderate level of perceived HIV stigma was observed (mean: 95.67). There were significantly positive relationships between self-esteem and QOL (p < .01; r = .642); social support and QOL (p < .01; r = .592). In contrast, perceived HIV stigma showed a negative correlation with QOL (p < .05; r = -.222). In self-esteem (p < .01), social support by family (p < .01), and that by friends (p < .01) were shown to be significant predictors of higher QOL level. Self-esteem and support by family and friends were considered possible promoting factor of QOL of PLWH.

Abstract

Family psychoeducation provides in-depth information about schizophrenia, enabling families to better understand the patient's condition while alleviating their emotional distress. This intervention benefits not only patients but also their families by enhancing their understanding and skills in supporting the treatment process. Objective: To identify and summarize key findings from studies examining the effectiveness of family psychoeducation as an intervention for schizophrenia patients. Methods: This review employed a literature review methodology, with data collected from databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. The search utilized relevant keywords, and the extracted data were analysed using the PICO framework, focusing on study characteristics, types of interventions, and outcomes. Reporting adhered to the PRISMA-SR guidelines. Included studies were English language randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that specifically addressed family psychoeducation for caregivers of schizophrenia patients and reported outcomes such as reduced caregiver burden, improved caregiving knowledge, and skills. Results: There were 17 articles containing 8 types of psychoeducational program that can be caried out on families of schizophrenia patients, namely Multifamily Psychoeducational Program, WeChat-based integrative family intervention program, Telehealth-Based Psychoeducation for Caregivers, Behavioral Family Psychoeducational Program, Mindfulness-Based Psychoeducation, Structured Psychoeducation, Family Psychoeducation, Group Psychoeducation. The intervention was given for a minimum of 4 sessions, and a maximum of 16 sessions. Conclusion: Family psychoeducation is an effective approach for improving family understanding, caregiving skills, and the quality of life for patients and families.

Abstract

Objective: This paper aims to provide a literature review evaluating treatment strategies for acute ankle sprain. Methods: This article The method of search articles through electronic-based databases, Science Direct, Pubmed, and Web of Sciences. Articles collected have been for publication between 2014 - 2024 and selected based on quantitative research, and topic treatment of ankle sprain compatibility with keywords. The eligibility of the studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines, and the PRISMA diagram was employed to organize the search results Results: A total of ten studies met the inclusion criteria, all of which had experimental designs. Various types of interventions were identified from the collected literature. A multidisciplinary approach that integrates manual techniques, physical therapy, medical care, and preventive education provides optimal results in the management of ankle injuries. Proper management treatment and rehabilitation to heal correctly and minimize the risk of re-injury Conclusion: Future research should define comprehensive treatment acute ankle sprain to enhance short and long term care and clinical outcomes in nursing context.
