Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that cannot be cured until now and requires sufferers to undergo long-term treatment. Prolonged physical problems experienced by people with type 2 diabetes mellitus and loss of self-control due to the absence of significant changes to heal make individuals feel helpless. Powerlessness if not overcome will lead to a psychosocial crisis that affects more severe psychiatric problems. This study aims to carry out nursing care for diabetes mellitus patients with helplessness at the South Ponorogo Health Center. This research is descriptive in the form of a case study. Powerlessness can be measured using a powerlessness questionnaire. The subject used was one respondent at the age of 54 years, suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus since 6 years ago, moderate helplessness score, and cooperative. The results of this study showed that the main intervention was positive affirmation and autogenic relaxation therapy was performed on the first day, a score of 8 (moderate powerlessness) was obtained, while on the fourth day a score (low powerlessness) was obtained. Positive affirmation intervention and autogenic relaxation therapy is a combination that can help patients with diabetes mellitus reduce stress and improve the patient's mental well-being. The synergy of the two implementations that are carried out at each meeting, negative thoughts are changed through positive affirmations and autogenic relaxation therapy is effective in helping patients overcome the anxiety experienced by patients.

Abstract

Stroke is a neurological deficit that disrupts the blood supply to the brain can occur due to several pathological conditions including atherosclerosis. Diabetes mellitus is one of the causes of stroke where high blood glucose levels can accelerate atherosclerosis. One of the signs of stroke symptoms is a decrease in muscle strength which can lead to impaired physical mobility. One of the efforts to overcome is to train ROM. The purpose of the study was to determine how nursing care for stroke patients with a history of diabetes mellitus with impaired physical mobility.az The case study design in this study uses qualitative descriptive research with a case study approach. After carrying out nursing care for 7 days, the results of research on physical mobility disorders in Mr. P were obtained. P has improved as evidenced by using the MMT instrument on muscle strength, namely from scale 2 to scale 4 (mild physical mobility impairment). For the range of motion has increased, namely a scale of 25 to 46, which is from a range of motion enough to good. ROM training is very important because it affects muscle contraction and relaxation so that it can facilitate blood flow so as to increase muscle strength. Suggestions for stroke patients with a history of diabetes mellitus are expected to routinely do ROM exercises and do health checks, namely blood pressure and glucose levels.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease requiring long-term care, often affecting the quality of life of patients and their families. This study aims to empower families of DM patients through education and five-finger hypnosis relaxation training to reduce the stress associated with caregiving. This community service program was conducted in Sukosari Village, Ponorogo, involving 12 families of DM patients selected through purposive sampling. The program utilized methods such as health education, simulation, and hands-on practice, carried out in three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge from 66% (low category) to 83% (good category) after the health education sessions. Furthermore, the five-finger hypnosis relaxation technique significantly reduced family stress levels, from 83% (moderate stress) to 75% (mild stress). As a relaxation technique based on positive memories, the five-finger hypnosis method proved effective in reducing physical and emotional tension, supporting psychosocial comfort, and enhancing families' ability to handle the challenges of caring for DM patients. This program highlights the importance of family empowerment in supporting DM patient care, both physically and emotionally. These findings are expected to serve as a foundation for developing similar interventions that focus on increasing family capacity and reducing stress in managing chronic illness care. Family involvement in supporting DM patients plays a significant role in the physical and mental care of the patients. Continuous support from healthcare providers and the community is essential for program sustainability.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus type II is a condition of increased blood glucose caused by disturbances in insulin resistance and insulin secretion that causes metabolic disorders of the body, is a silent killer disease. Living with DM causes stress in a person because most of the patient's time is spent on treatment. It is estimated that around 1.6 million deaths are caused by diabetes globally. Decreased quality of life often occurs in patients with chronic diseases, one of which is DM which has an impact on stress and resilience. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Diabetes Exercises on the level of stress and resilience of DM sufferers. This study used a Quasy Experimental design (pre- and post-test), involving 20 intervention groups and 20 control groups taken with purposive sampling techniques. The paired sample t-test results showed a p-value of 0.448 which means there was no difference before and after DM Exercise to stress and resilience. DM Exercise indirectly does not affect the resilience and stress of DM sufferers, it contributes to reducing the stress of DM patients. In future studies, it is expected that Diabetes Resilience Training and Mindfulness actions in DM patients to improve their quality of life
