Abstract

Based on the results of initial observations, student learning outcomes in English subjects are still not optimal. This can be seen from the acquisition of an average student score of 67, which is still below the predetermined KKM of 70. This problem tends to be influenced by the lack of learning motivation that students have during the learning process, which has an impact on learning English outcomes. This research uses mixed methods. There are 2 types of data analysis tests, simple correlation tests, and descriptive analysis. Based on the results of research and discussion, the conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) The learning motivation of the tenth graders of SMAN 2 Sungai Lilin is good. This is evident from the acquisition of an assessment score of 80.21% in English learning motivation, which is in the good category. Thus, students' motivation in learning English has increased and is categorized as "good," because students' motivation must always be improved so that the learning objectives in each teaching and learning activity are achieved optimally. 2) Student learning outcomes in English lessons in this study are only limited to the cognitive and psychomotor domains, which include knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, and synthesis by emphasizing the aspects of knowledge and understanding that are adjusted to the level of development of the research subject students and motor skills and manipulation of materials or objects. 3) The effect of student learning motivation on student learning outcomes in class X SMAN 2 Sungai Lilin based on the calculation results obtained t-count of 0.821 and t-table of 0.320 at 0.50 and dk = (n-2) = (40-2) = 38. Thus, t-count (0.821) > t-table (0.320), then the hypothesis is accepted. This shows that "student learning motivation affects English learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how parents can motivate their children to learn English. This is referred to as "case study research." This research was conducted in the Ganesha Course tutoring class with five students and five parents as subjects. The data collection method used a learning motivation scale and interviews. The data analysis technique used descriptive and qualitative data analysis. Subject One demonstrated high learning motivation, and the role of parents was important in motivating children to learn English. Subject two has low motivation to learn; the role of parents is high in motivating students to learn English. Subject three has medium learning motivation and a strong parental role in motivating children to learn English. Subject four has a high motivation to learn, and the role of parents is important in motivating the learning of English. Subject five has low learning motivation; the role of their parents is to motivate her. As a result, it was determined that the role of parents in motivating learning subjects 1, 2, 3, 4 and our five low-level subjects was significant

Abstract

Professional growth is seen as an overall developmental process that takes place during one’s career and lifespan and understood as an umbrella term, and an overlapping term, to other related concepts. Furthermore, we argue that professional growth is dependent on the social and institutional contexts as well as personal attributes and circumstances. Following this, a model containing three dimensions related to learning in professional contexts (formal–informal, situated–unsituated and individual–social learning) is presented. The model is formed to illustrate that promotion of professional growth in workplaces is connected to formal and informal practices, versatility of working environments, as well as social relations. The chapter concludes with discussion and future research suggestions related to conceptual issues with regards of professional growth and contemporary challenges of in working life.

Abstract

This scientific essay examines the value of English language educating young children. Along with a nation's progress, English education is essential. As a result, Students are exposed to English as an international language as early as possible, before they reach 12 years of age. Young children are when a child is in the age range of the ideal time for language learning is between the ages of two and seven. They have the capacity to acquire native-like speech. They remain in a pre-operational cognitive development state, meaning they do not comprehend abstract concepts; they only comprehend symbols and think pre-logically. As a result, teaching English to children needs the use of appropriate and effective methods and procedures, such as singing, music, and giving physical education priority. This approach is regarded as effective and appropriate for learning English in young children. Developing this method also requires the involvement of teachers and parents learning English as a second language

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the English language training program applied to hotel and resort staff in Pagaralam, South Sumatra. English language proficiency is critical in the hospitality and tourism industry, allowing Staff to provide high-quality services to international guests. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and observations of 50 staff participating in the three-month training program. The results showed a significant improvement in the English language skills of Staff after participating in the training program, with the average score increasing by 30%. Interactive learning methods and the use of language learning apps have proven to be effective in improving English language skills. While there are limited time constraints for Staff to participate in training, using technology helps to overcome this problem. Staff with better English skills can communicate more effectively with international guests, which positively impacts guest satisfaction and the hotel's reputation. This study concludes that structured and relevant English language training programs are very effective in improving the English language skills of hotel and resort staff in Pagaralam. Management support and investment in continuous training are essential to maintain and enhance employee competencies. This finding has significant implications for developing human resources and the attractiveness of tourist destinations in Pagaralam. Practical recommendations include increased flexibility of training schedules and collaboration with educational institutions for more comprehensive training programs.

Abstract

Masih terdapat masalah yang dihadapi mahasiswa di Politeknik Darussalam terkait dengan pengelolaan data, kebanyakan mahasiswa mengelola data dengan menggunakan alat bantu Software Microsoft excel. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dapat menggunakan SPSS (Statistical Product for Service Solutions. Target luaran yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan ini secara umum adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Politeknik Darussalam mahir menggunakan media SPSS (Statistical Product for Service Solutions) sebagai media mengolah data. Secara khusus, target luaran kegiatan adalah sebagai berikut: (1). Mahasiswa mampu menggunakan data sesuai dengan desain penelitian yang telah ditentukan dengan tepat, benar dan jujur; (2). mampu mengolah data sesuai dengan desain penelitian yang telah ditentukan dengan tepat, benar dan jujur; (3). dapat mengolah data penelitian dengan waktu yang cepat dan benar. Program PKM ini terlaksana dengan baik dan lancar sesuai rencana, dan sebagian besar peserta mampu menerima materi dengan baik. Peserta antusias dengan kegiatan yang ditunjukkan dengan keaktifan peserta dalam proses kegiatan.
