Abstract

Urbanization is one factor influencing poverty in Indonesia’s major cities. Urbanization in Indonesia is characterized by migration of residents from villages to cities to improve their standard of living and try their luck in the city. However, many urbanized people who move from villages to cities need more education and specific skills. As a result, they need help to find easier and more decent jobs, even though cities provide more jobs. This condition causes many urbanized people to end up as underprivileged, such as street people busking at red lights and on the streets. This research aimed to examine the challenges and opportunities faced by underprivileged urbanized people in accessing education. The research used a qualitative case study approach. The participants in this study are urbanized people who move from villages to cities but end up being underprivileged in the cities they attend. Furthermore, the researchers used an interactive data analysis by Morse (1994), comprehending, synthesizing, theorizing and recontextualizing. The findings of this study are expected to provide a true picture of urbanized people and underprivileged people’s education. The results showed that the underprivileged urbanized people in Liu village, Depok face several challenges in fulfilling their education, such as difficulty enrolling their children in public school and paying school fees. Besides their opportunities to access education, they are already aware of government assistance, such as KIP and KDS programs, which allow them to pay their children’s tuition fees with LKS money.

Abstract

Behind the success of the government programs, various educational phenomena in Depok City must still be resolved, one of which is education for marginalized communities. “Marginalized people” is a more accurate description of the urban poor. Consequently, the paramount task for the government is to harness the potential of these underprivileged individuals through the promotion of inclusive education. The Masjid Terminal School (Master School) is one of the schools in Depok that provides inclusive education. A qualitative method with a case study approach is used in this study. Semi-structured interviews, classroom observations and post-observation interviews were conducted to collect the data. The findings of this study revealed that the challenges faced by students at Master School differ significantly from those encountered at other schools. Given that Master School is tailored for underprivileged students, economic hardships emerge as one of their most formidable obstacles. Nevertheless, students at Master School are afforded opportunities to enhance their capacities and skills while enrolled, as the school not only provides tuition-free lessons but also offers a variety of extracurricular activities open to all students. Furthermore, teachers and staff at Master School actively support students with a strong desire to pursue higher education, with many students having secured scholarships to study abroad.

Abstract

This study aims to undertake a comprehensive analysis addressing the extent, growth patterns, and geographical spread, of journals, authors, and articles that have demonstrated the most significant impact in terms of relevance. The methodology entails the use of visualization techniques and bibliometric analysis as quantitative tools and the adoption of an evaluative and descriptive approach to depict the research analysis. The data sourced from the reputable Scopus database have led to the identification of a total of 850 publications, encompassing various formats such as repositories, books, book chapters, journal articles, and proceedings. In the analysis of these publications, the study delves into the years 1926-2023, employing the R Studio and VOS Viewer software. The finding shows that North America and Europe are well-represented among the top contributors. The article's production over time highlights diverse trajectories among countries like Spain, the United Kingdom, the USA, Indonesia, and Canada. However, it's noteworthy that high productivity doesn't guarantee a similar level of citation impact. The relationship between productivity and relevance, is intricate, reflecting the dynamic nature of research impact in the academic domain. Furthermore, the analysis reveals a noticeable upward trend in the frequency of key categories such as leadership, human, article, education, and others over the specified period. Furthermore, the persistence of these trends from 2021 to 2023 signifies the enduring relevance and evolution of participative leadership research. The exploration of correlations with traditionally less associated dimensions reflects the field's adaptability and responsiveness to contemporary issues.

Abstract

The MASTER School (terminal mosque) is a free school founded by community representatives focusing on inclusive schools for marginalized people from low-income families in the Depok area, West Java. This school is considered to support the government's strategic plan to provide education for all. However, realizing the lack of the government's role in equalizing access to education, this paper attempts to answer the question: What factors are initiatives for MASTER schools to consider when developing inclusive education for marginalized groups through community-based education? How does MASTER school develop inclusive education for marginalized groups through community-based education? The method in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. The data was collected from interviews and observations of schools and classes, as well as from relevant journals and articles, sist research analysis. The findings of this paper show that several factors contributed to the establishment of the MASTER school, including social awareness, which is generated by self-designed school founders motivated by the surrounding social environment. In addition, the inclusive education implemented at the MASTER school is based on a narrow understanding of the differences between children in the same room and pro. It provides education without the support of adequate facilities and teachers. In addition, there still needs to be more understanding of educational inclusion, which is also a challenge for its implementation.

This research used a systematic literature review from 34 highly regarded global and national indexes and computerized databases accessible via Scopus Dimension accounts. Data analysis in this paper entails the process of inspecting, filtering, and modeling data to discover useful information, draw conclusions, and support decision-making. The finding shows the diffusion of innovation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum adopted from Roger’s theory (2003). The main challenges are curriculum adjustment, funding, and partnership exploration. Abstract

This research explores the relationship between green finance and Maqasid Shariah through a study of the development of green sukuk in Indonesia. Green sukuk, as a Shariah-compliant financing instrument aimed at environmentally friendly projects, philosophically aligns with Maqasid Shariah, which emphasizes the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. This study employs a qualitative method based on literature review to analyze the development of green sukuk since its first issuance in 2018. The findings indicate that green sukuk in Indonesia has shown significant growth, with an increase in issuances and funded projects, such as renewable energy and sustainable transportation. The implications of this research suggest that green sukuk not only contributes to sustainable financing but also strengthens the principles of Shariah within the context of modern Islamic finance. This study recommends an expanded green economic model based on Maqasid Shariah to support sustainable development policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate differences and correlations in engagement levels within university organizations among PMII members across Islamic State and private higher education institutions in Cirebon, as well as differences in their self-actualization. The research employs a quantitative approach with systematic random sampling. A sample of 285 participants was selected from a population of 1070 PMII members at these institutions with analysis techniques involving the Mann-Whitney U test for the first and second research questions, and Spearman’s correlation for the third. Results indicated a statistically significant difference in engagement levels within organizations between Islamic state and private higher education (U = 7193.500, z = -2.263, p = .024), suggesting higher engagement among Islamic state students. However, no significant difference was found in self-actualization levels between these groups (U = 5128, z = -.166, p = .868). Moreover, a strong positive correlation was observed between engagement levels within organizations and self-actualization among PMII members in both Islamic state and private institutions (rs = .525, p < .001).

Abstract

The problem of child marriage in Indonesia is complex. There are many factors affecting the incidence of child marriage, such as poverty, lack of education, religious belief, social pressure, and limited employment opportunities. This paper aims to understand the complexities of child marriage in Indramayu, West Java. The Indonesian government has tried to eliminate child marriage, such as by amending the Law on the minimum age of marriage from 16 to 19 years old for girls. This paper argues that due to the complex problems of child marriage, eliminating child marriage requires many efforts to address the causes of child marriage, not only by amending the Law. This research is feminist research, which combines knowledge production with activism. It does not merely produce "knowledge what" but also "knowledge for" by encouraging girls to continue their studies to prevent child marriage. The finding shows that most women regretted marrying underage because they were financially unprepared. This implies that child marriage can result in economic insecurity, leading to a cycle of poverty in society.
