Abstract

Among international students in Indonesia, shopping activity is one of their favorites outside of study. This is because many promotion periods attract international students purchasing intention, such as Ramdhan, Eid, year-end sales, Independence Day Celebration, etc. This study aimed to analyze International students' perceptions of adopters of online shopping in terms of demographic profile, expectations of online stores, advantages, and problems related to online purchases. Moreover, the reasons for using or avoiding online shopping and the types of preferred online shops were studied. The research provides fascinating insights into online consumer behavior. Qualitative analysis was used to analyze the data. This study has collected sixty questionnaires through zoom interviews and online, deployed to international students who have already made an online purchase. Besides offline purchases, online purchasing also has many interests among international students, especially those who are always connected to the internet and technology in every aspect of life. International students prefer online shopping because of its convenience, lower price, many choices, time-saving, and ease of access anywhere and anytime. Based on their experiences, this study reveals that online shopping is cheaper than offline shopping. Moreover, it is also more efficient for them because they have many classes to attend.

Abstract

This study digs into the complex interplay between renewable energy market development and Indonesian economic trends. Our rigorous study aims to investigate the impact of crucial economic indicators, including gross domestic product (GDP), exchange rates, inflation, real interest rates, net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), and urbanisation, on the renewable energy landscape in Indonesia between 1973 and 2022. This study provides a novel insight by investigating both symmetric and asymmetric impacts in the context of Indonesia. While previous studies have limited scope with linear relationships, this study fills a gap by capturing the dynamic interplay between renewables and economic indicators. By employing a robust econometric model, we reveal interesting patterns highlighting the multidimensional nature of the renewable energy market's responses to economic trends and find that there is a long-term interplay among the variables under linear and non-linear models. We found empirical evidence indicating that the nexus is asymmetric. However, in the long term, GDP exhibits an asymmetric positive impact on renewable energy consumption in the linear model. This shows that economic growth positively correlates with Indonesia's adoption of sustainable renewable energy sources. Similarly, urbanisation shows a positive response, with expanding cities boosting demand for cleaner and greener energy. Surprisingly, exchange rates show an asymmetric response, demonstrating that depreciation of local currency has a disproportionate negative impact on renewable energy investment during economic downturns. Inflation also exhibits a negative asymmetric response due to eroding purchasing power that reduces investment in renewables. Meanwhile, net inflow of FDI emerges as a critical driver in favourable economic conditions, dramatically amplifying renewable energy capacities. Therefore, during economic recessions, FDI’s impact diminishes and emphasises the significant importance of tailored interventions. Based on the findings of this study, which demonstrate the profound interplay of how the Indonesian economy shapes and is affected by the renewable energy market, we encourage the adoption of policies that promote sustainable energy development while increasing economic resilience. We recommend that policymakers support renewable energy diversification to lessen the vulnerability of exchange rate fluctuations. Attracting FDI is also crucial, as policies can help strengthen the investment climate and bolster the renewable energy sector. Inflation-indexed incentives can help maintain confidence and foster economic growth.

Abstract

The MASTER School (terminal mosque) is a free school founded by community representatives focusing on inclusive schools for marginalized people from low-income families in the Depok area, West Java. This school is considered to support the government's strategic plan to provide education for all. However, realizing the lack of the government's role in equalizing access to education, this paper attempts to answer the question: What factors are initiatives for MASTER schools to consider when developing inclusive education for marginalized groups through community-based education? How does MASTER school develop inclusive education for marginalized groups through community-based education? The method in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. The data was collected from interviews and observations of schools and classes, as well as from relevant journals and articles, sist research analysis. The findings of this paper show that several factors contributed to the establishment of the MASTER school, including social awareness, which is generated by self-designed school founders motivated by the surrounding social environment. In addition, the inclusive education implemented at the MASTER school is based on a narrow understanding of the differences between children in the same room and pro. It provides education without the support of adequate facilities and teachers. In addition, there still needs to be more understanding of educational inclusion, which is also a challenge for its implementation.

Abstract

Research Originality: Indonesia is one of the leading producers of biodiesel globally. Despite this progress, the country surprisingly still experiences significant volatility in biodiesel prices. This phenomenon raises a critical question about the factors driving these fluctuations, which the existing literature still does not address adequately.Research Objectives: This study delves into the dynamic relationships between biodiesel prices and various potential determinants.Research Methods: The Vector Autoregressive model was employed, given its robustness in capturing dynamic interdependencies between multiple time series. The analysis utilized monthly data spanning Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2022 collected from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia.Empirical Results: The VAR analysis reveals the nuanced influences of these variables on biodiesel prices. It suggests that an increase in the prices of CPO, crude glycerine, catalyst, and PFAD positively affects biodiesel prices, while price shocks in gasoil and methanol inversely impact them.Implications: The findings highlight the necessity for a multi-factor approach to formulating pricing strategies. They inform policy decisions to foster price stability and drive the growth of the biodiesel sector.JEL Classification: Q2, Q3, Q4, P28How to Cite:Junejo, S., Wibert, J., Hasundungan, V., & Wicaksono, T. Abstract

The climate is changing and the earth is getting hotter. Cutting down rainforests, burning fossil fuels, and farming livestock all contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Human economy and the natural world are closely connected. This study evaluates the relationship between environmental performance and economic growth using panel data for Asian member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the years 2020 to 2022. Data on Environmental Performance Index and Gross Domestic Product growth were collected from the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy and the World Bank. Panel data regression was used by selecting the best parameter estimates from three panel data regression models: Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM). The study findings are anticipated to enhance nations' consciousness regarding environmental concerns and to enhance their focus on ecologically sustainable economic growth and development trajectories.

Abstract

Food waste is a major environmental issue. Sustainable Halal food manufacturing reduces its environmental impact. This theoretical framework examines the pros and cons of greening Pakistani halal food. To maintain long-term profitability and market competitiveness, it stresses a Green Halal Supply Chain, a sustainable and environmentally responsible strategy. This framework shows how Pakistani enterprises may transform the halal food market by combining sustainability, halal certification, and supply chain management. Pakistan will benefit because other countries will accept Pakistani Halal standards as safe, clean, and environmentally friendly. Thus, the global Halal center relies on the green Halal supply chain. In response to these needs, the goals of this study are: first, to find out what green practices are used to manage the Halal food supply chain in collaboration with the supplier and customer; second, to find out what sustainable performance results from using green practices; and third, to find out if supplier-customer collaboration lessens the effect of green practices on sustainable performance. The goals of this study will be met through a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. Overall, this study is supposed to develop a model that gives a complete picture of the Green Halal supply chain regarding how suppliers and customers work together to implement green practices. The model can help the business world and policymakers determine what green practices they can work together on and their pros and cons. Pakistan can build its reputation as the world's top Halal hub by joining the Green Halal supply chain.

Abstract

The engagement of Sufism on Pakistani social media has sparked many concerns over the inclusivity of religious manifestations and the interpretation of the Qur'an. This research seeks to examine the historical development and objectives of Sufism in order to analyse the impact of Sufi activities in the digital domain, specifically focusing on the emergence of religious aberrations. The research was carried out utilizing qualitative methodologies by examining ancient Sufi literature and subsequently comparing it with Sufi practices in the digital domain. The findings demonstrate that internet platforms have fundamentally transformed the availability and dissemination of Sufi teachings, allowing an unparalleled avenue for dialogue and cultural manifestation that was before unachievable. Nevertheless, there are deficiencies in their attitude to community, instructional methods, and the impact of technology on their individual activities. The concept of Digital Sufism demonstrates the integration of traditional practices into the online world, resulting in both opportunities and challenges in the modern day.

Abstract

Madrassas in Pakistan serve as vital institutions for religious education, providing free teaching and accommodation to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. However, several Madrassa graduates face financial challenges upon entering the job market as a result of the rapidly changing technological environment. The majority of these graduates get employment in low-wage roles such as mosque management, madrassa instruction, or labour jobs in profit-oriented enterprises. Madrassas do not include non-religious subjects or technical education in its curriculum, and the government has shown little inclination to support these institutions. An investigation was carried out in the Khairpur area, whereby a sample of 250 Madrassa graduates was selected at random and subjected to a survey in order to analyse these issues. Based on the survey findings, these graduates had difficulties in providing financial assistance for their families. To improve their quality of life, it is recommended that the government provide scholarships and recognise the value of their degrees by granting them credit. The report also indicates that Madrassa graduates should engage in vocational training programmes to facilitate their successful integration into the labour market. In summary, the research highlights the economic challenges that Madrassa graduates in Pakistan encounter and proposes strategies to improve their prospects for the future.
