Abstract

Rendahnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai gizi merupakan salah satu penyebab munculnya persoalan gizi dan kesehatan, selain itu minimnya akses terhadap pangan yang sehat dan bergizi juga juga menjadi salah satu pemicu yang ikut andil dalam menambah kompleksitas persoalan gizi di masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan sekaligus memberdayakan masyarakat melalui kebun sayur bersama sehingga mereka memiliki akses yang lebih baik terhadap pangan yang sehat dan bergizi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah penyuluhan dengan ceramah disertai diskusi sementara untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat dilakukan dengan menginisiasi kebun sayur. Kegiatan ini dipandang sebagai solusi yang efektif untuk mengatasi persoalan rendahnya pengetahuan dan minimnya akses terhadap pangan sehat. Kegiatan penyuluhan gizi yang dilakukan berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai gizi hal dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan gizi setelah dilakukan edukasi, dimana sebelum edukasi mayoritas peserta masih berpengetahuan kurang dan setelah dilakukan edukasi terdapat 26 peserta (87%) yang pengetahuannya meningkat menjadi baik, sementara untuk kebun sayur bersama yang diinisiasi oleh tim pengabdian berhasil sudah dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Kebun sayur bersama ini diharapkan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pangan keluarga, mendatangkan lebih banyak manfaat ekonomi dan sekaligus menjadi kebun percontohan bagi masyarakat yang ada di Desa Tanah Putih. Low public knowledge and understanding of nutrition is one of the causes of the emergence of nutrition and health problems, apart from that, the lack of access to healthy and nutritious food is also one of the triggers that contributes to increasing the complexity of nutritional problems in society. The aim of this service activity is to increase knowledge while empowering the community through community vegetable gardens so that they have better access to healthy and nutritious food. The method used in this service is outreach with lectures accompanied by discussions, while community empowerment is carried out by initiating vegetable gardens. This activity is seen as an effective solution to overcome the problem of low knowledge and minimal access to healthy food. The nutrition education activities carried out succeeded in increasing public knowledge regarding nutrition, which was proven by an increase in nutritional knowledge after the education was carried out, where before the education the majority of participants still had poor knowledge and after the education there were 26 participants (87%) whose knowledge increased to good, while for gardens The shared vegetables initiated by the community service team have been put to good use. It is hoped that this joint vegetable garden can fulfill the family's food needs, bring more economic benefits and at the same time become a demonstration garden for the community in Tanah Putih Village.

Abstract

Worms are one of the most common infectious diseases in children. Worm disease is transmitted through food, especially food that has been contaminated with worm eggs. The community service activities are aimed at increasing the knowledge and understanding of school children, as part of an effort to prevent and reduce the prevalence of intestinal worms in children. The service activity begins with distributing pre-test sheets to be filled in by students, this is done to determine the level of students' initial knowledge and understanding of the material to be delivered. Health education efforts are carried out by providing counseling to students regarding clean and healthy lifestyles as well as intestinal worms and prevention efforts. After the counseling was carried out, the team then carried out a post test, to measure students' understanding regarding the material for a clean and healthy lifestyle and intestinal worms. The results of the post test conducted showed an increase in students' knowledge.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition in which a toddler has a body length or height that is lacking or not appropriate when compared to age. Data on stunting cases at the Oekabiti Health Center from year to year in succession from 2020 and 2021 are 24.8% and 20.5%. Although the incidence of stunting has decreased, it is still a health problem that must be addressed. Objectives: This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of stunting in the working area of ​​the Oekabiti Health Center, Kupang Regency in 2022. Methods: This type of research is an analytical survey, with a case-control design. The sample consisted of 142 toddlers consisting of 71 case samples and 71 control samples. Case and control samples were taken using simple random sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observations, filling out questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. Results: The results of the multivariate analysis showed a relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.005), history of LBW (p-value = 0.000) and maternal knowledge (p-value = 0.001). Conclusions: The history of LBW is the most related variable and has the greatest risk of stunting. It is hoped that the community, especially women of childbearing age (WUS), will know and prepare nutrition before planning a pregnancy and be more active in going to the integrated health post to get information about nutrition and also to monitor the nutritional status of toddlers.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan pertumbuhan yang terhambat, dan merupakan salah satu masalah gizi yang perlu mendapat perhatian. Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) merupakan Provinsi dengan prevalensi stunting tertinggi di Indonesia, Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) menjadi kabupaten penyumbang stunting di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Puskemas Nulle adalah salah satu Puskesmas di wilayah Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan, Kecamatan Amanuban Barat yang memiliki jumlah kasus stunting tertinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan pola asuh dengan kejadian stunting pada balita di wilayah kerja puskesmas Nulle tahun 2024. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian epidemilogi analitik dengan metode kuantitatif dan rancangan case control. Besar sampel pada penelitian ini 170 balita yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil uji chi-square diperoleh nilai ρ-value= 0,001 yang menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pemberian ASI-eksklusif dengan kejadian stunting pada balita. Hasil perhitungan (OR) diperoleh nilai OR= 5,661, hal ini berarti balita yang tidak mendapatkan ASI-eksklusif memiliki peluang risiko terjadinya stunting sebesar 5,661 kali dibandingkan dengan balita yang tidak stunting. Hasil ini menunjukan adanya hubungan pola asuh ibu terhadap kejadian stunting pada balita di Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan. Penulis berharap penelitian ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman ibu terkait hubungan faktor risiko yang dapat mempengaruhi kejadian stunting pada balita.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin (Hb) level in the blood is lower than normal. Anemia can cause fatigue, decreased concentration, which can affect learning achievement. Objectives: This study aims to determine the factors that influence anemia status and its effect on learning achievement of female students of SMA Negeri 1 Rote Barat Daya. Methods: The type of research used is descriptive analytic research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were female students in grades 11 and 12 of SMA Negeri 1 Rote Barat Daya as many as 402 people. Data analysis used in this study was simple logistic regression and multiple logistic regression. Results:  statistical tests with simple logistic regression showed that there was a relationship between nutritional intake and diet to anemia status with a value of (ρ-value=0,000). However, there was no relationship between history of illness and anemia status (ρ-value=0,936) and no relationship between anemia status and learning achievement (ρ-value=0,247). The results of the analysis using multiple logistic regression showed that there was an influence between diet and anemia status (95%CI value = 1,656-158,389); there was an influence between nutritional intake and anemia status (95%CI value = 2,075-69,601). Conclusions: that schools should often hold socialization about the causes and symptoms of anemia, as well as its impact on health, especially for female students. Female students should avoid the habit of consuming foods or drinks containing caffeine or tea in large quantities, because it can inhibit iron absorption.

Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers greatly affects their health, growth, and development, because toddlerhood is a crucial age when growth and development occur rapidly. Therefore, nutritional deficiencies during this period can lead to malnutrition in toddlers. This study aims to determine the relationship between family food income, basic immunization status, medical history, history of exclusive breastfeeding, food, and nutritional status in toddlers in the working area of Manulai II Village, Alak District, Kupang City. The sample was determined using the Lemeshow formula with a sample size of 80 respondents. Statistical tests used Chi-square analysis with a=0.05. The results showed that the variables of Family Food Income (p-value=0.266), Basic Immunization Status (p-value=0.158), Medical History (p-value=0.461), and History of Exclusive Breastfeeding (p-value 0.101) were not related to the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of Manulai II Village, Alak District, Kupang City. It is hoped that mothers of toddlers will pay attention to and increase their family food income, pay attention to the basic immunization status of their toddlers every day, and increase their knowledge about the importance of medical history and exclusive breastfeeding in order to prevent malnutrition in toddlers.
