Abstract

The teaching material is an important element in the learning process because it has a variety of crucial functions. First, the material allows the student to learn independently without the presence of a teacher or a friend. Second, the student can study anywhere and at any time according to their wishes. Third, it helps the student become an independent learner. Lastly, it serves as a guide that guides the student's learning activity. As a result of interviews with instructors in the field of Electrical Equipment, it is known that the material module of the Solar Power Plant does not support learning. Therefore, the aim of this study is to create a learning module about electrical devices that can be used as a learning support in the classroom for students in class XI of Electric Power Plant Engineering at SMK. Using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), this is a development module that has four chapters: solar energy, general PLTS descriptions, components, and PLTS operations. The results of the study showed that the generator learning module created was highly valid, with an average of 93.40% of all tests. Validity of expert 1 reached 95.07% with highly valid category, validity of specialist 2 reached 95.83%, and validity test of small and large groups reached 89.22% with very valid categories, respectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Comprehension of concepts plays a crucial role in the learning journey. The utilization of various learning models can influence students' grasp of these concepts. (1) It has been found that there is a correlation between student participation rates and concept understanding when using two different learning models, (2) it has been found that when using a Problem Based H learning model, classes with high and low activity levels showed the most significant difference in understanding concepts. The study involved students of the TPTL expertise program at Brantas Karangkates SMK. This is a real experimental research. The study sample consists of two groups. In this research, the data underwent analysis through descriptive methods, preliminary tests, and hypothesis testing utilizing SPSS statistical software. Findings indicated that the hybrid STEAM-based PBL learning model, the STEAM-based learning model, and the conventional STEAM learning model demonstrated varying levels of concept comprehension across highly active and moderately low active classes.

Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of the STEAM-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving Vocational High School (SMK) students' understanding of basic electrical concepts. Through a literature review of 12 articles published since 2020, the study synthesizes findings on the integration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into PBL to promote deeper conceptual understanding and practical skills. The results show that the STEAM-based PBL model enhances student engagement, collaboration, and problem-solving skills by linking theory to real-life applications. This approach not only improves knowledge retention but also fosters the development of critical thinking and teamwork, which are essential for vocational students' success. The study concludes that this model is highly effective for vocational education, recommending its broader implementation to better prepare students for future challenges in technical fields. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on the combined application of STEAM and PBL in vocational education, providing a comprehensive approach to both theoretical and practical learning.
