Abstract

ABSTRACTNitrogen is a basic compound in the chemical industry. Nitrogen is an inert gas compound so it is suitable for various applications covering various aspects of manufacturing, processing, handling and shipping chemicals. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of impurities, pressure and air flow rate on the purity of nitrogen gas products produced using the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) method, then carry out a comparison or simulation of actual field data with Aspen Adsorption V.10. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, the data in this research is field operational data and data collection techniques are carried out periodically through data log sheets. From the research results, it was found that Purity in October to November 2023 on October 5 and 27 was 99.98%, with a flow of 52.2 Nm3/h, while for November there was 98.01% (purity) with flow 105.0 Nm3/h. And after carrying out simulations using Aspen Adsorption V.10 and varying the input data, Purity was obtained at 99.98%, 99.97%, 99.91% with a flow of 100 Nm3/h, 150 Nm3/h, 200 Nm3/h or 0, 4461 kmol/s, 0.6692 kmol/s, 0.8992 kmol/s in Aspen Adsorption V.10 applications.Keywords: Nitrogen, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Aspen Adsorption, Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS)

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study discusses the analysis of coagulant needs and operational costs in the water purification process on the clarifier (Z-9451) in the utility unit of PT Perta Arun Gas on a laboratory scale using the jar test method. This research is expected to provide benefits in improving the efficiency of chemical use, producing water quality that meets standards and estimating operational costs. This study aims to test the effectiveness of coagulants using jartest on clarifier inlet water samples at PT Perta Arun Gas. The parameters tested include pH, turbidity, and conductivity. Experiments were carried out with variations in the doses of coagulants and polymers. The results of the experiment will be used to determine the optimal dose of coagulant for raw water treatment. The best efficiency In the first week of November 7, 2023, the results of the analysis of the clarifier feed raw water (Z-9451) were obtained, namely a decrease in turbidity of 98.74%. In the second week of November 14, 2023, the decrease in turbidity was 98.42%, in the third week of November 21, 2023, the decrease in turbidity was 98.33%, and in the last week of November 28, 2023, the decrease in turbidity was 98.50%. The results showed the best efficiency in the first week with a concentration of aluminum sulfate of 24 ppm and polymer 0.20 ppm. The use of this concentration is able to produce good water quality and save the company's operational costs. However, weather conditions can affect the quality of raw water, so further research is needed to obtain the optimal conditions for the addition of aluminum sulfate and polymer. It is recommended to conduct a weekly Jartes analysis in order to provide recommendations on the use of aluminum sulfate and polymers as coagulants in utility units. Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dilakukan pada mitra masyarakat ekonomi produktif pengahasil bawang goreng kemasan di desa Mon Geuddong Kota Lhokseumawe Kecamatan Banda Sakti Provinsi Aceh. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah pada bidang produksi dimana proses pengrajangan bawang menggunakan pisau iris membutuhkan waktu yang lama dan kapasitas produksi maksimum hanya 0,5 kg/jam atau 8 kg/hari. Sehingga kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk memecahkan permasalahan  produksi dengan ketidaksiapan mitra dalam memenuhi permintaan konsumen adalah dengan mengimplementasikan mesin perajang bawang segar otomatis berbahan stainless steel foodgrade dapat dioperasikan dengan cepat, praktis, ekonomis, dan  menghasilkan bawang rajang yang seragam.  Pelaksanaan PKM dilakukan di lokasi mitra dimulai dengan observasi tim pelaksana PKM ke lokasi mitra, pembekalan materi, perancangan mesin pengrajang bawang, demonstrasi, pengoperasian, dan perawatan.   Hasil implementasi mesin rajang terbukti dapat meningkatkan kapasitas produksi bawang rajang dari 0,5 kg/jam menjadi 12 kg/jam atau meningkatkan kapasitas bawang goreng dari 3,5 kg/hari menjadi 35 kg/hari

Abstract

Penerapan teknologi peniris minyak (Spinner) telah dilakukan kepada pelakuusaha bawang goreng kemasan. Penerapan mesin spinner diharapkan dapatmemecahkan permasalahan pelaku usaha terhadap bidang produksi. Pelakuusaha bawang goreng kemasan dalam kegiatan penerapan Iptek Masyarakatadalah UMKM Bawang Goreng Lima Dara berlokasi di Desa Mon GeudongKota Lhokseumawe Kecamatan Banda Sakti. UMKM Bawang Gorengmemiliki legalitas resmi dari Pemerintah Republik Indonesia dengan NomorInduk Berusaha (NIB) 1255000710424 dan Izin Usaha Mikro Kecil (IUMK)diterbitkan pada tanggal 02 Juli 2021. Selama ini bawnag goreng yangdihasilkan sudah banyak digemari masyarakat hanya saja muncul permaslahanpada dasar kemasan terendapkannya minyak, sehingga bawang goreng limadara tidak dapat disimpan dalam waktu yang lama. Mesin spinner dirancangberbahan stainless steel food grade sehingga aman digunakan untuk produkmakanan. Hasil demonstrasi menunjukkan bahwa dalam waktu 2 (dua) menitmesin spinner mampu memisahkan 87,5% minyak dari bawang goreng.Bawang goreng telah diuji kualitas berdasarkan parameter kadar air dan kadarminyak. Hasil yang diperoleh kadar air bawang goreng 4,9% dan kadar lemak28%, memenuhi SNI 7713:2013 tentang standar kualitas bawang goreng.Penerapan teknologi spinner terbukti meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitasbawang goreng teruji secara laboratorium.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of candlenut oil (Aleurites moluccanus L) and stearic acid ratios, along with mixing temperatures, on the quality of shampoo bars. A total of 25 formulations were prepared using five ratios of candlenut oil to stearic acid (6:30%, 11:25%, 16:20%, 21:15%, and 26:10%) and five mixing temperatures (70℃, 75℃, 80℃, 85℃, and 90℃). Constant ingredients included sodium cocoyl isethionate 41%, methyl ester sulfonate 13%, cetyl alcohol 5%, cocoa butter 1.9%, essential oil 1%, citric acid 0.1%, lexgard natural 1%, and colorant 1%. Quality evaluation referred to SNI 06-2692-1992 standards, covering pH, moisture content, foam stability, antibacterial activity, and organoleptic properties (color, aroma, texture). Results indicated that both the oil–acid ratio and mixing temperature significantly affected shampoo bar characteristics. The optimal formulation was obtained at a candlenut oil to stearic acid ratio of 6:30% with a mixing temperature of 70℃. This formula produced a pH of 6.47, stable foam with only 2.77% loss, low moisture content of 1.87%, and antibacterial activity of 100%. Organoleptic evaluation also showed high panelist acceptance for its color, aroma, and texture, indicating good consumer preference and product stability. Keywords: Shampoo Bar, Candlenut Oil, Stearic Acid, Mixing Temperature, Antibacterial

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nitrogen merupakan senyawa pokok dalam industri kimia. Nitrogen merupakan senyawa inert gas sehingga cocok digunakan untuk berbagai aplikasi yang mencakup berbagai aspek pembuatan, pengolahan, penanganan dan pengiriman bahan kimia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh impurities, tekanan dan laju alir udara terhadap kemurnian produk gas nitrogen yang dihasilkan dengan metode Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), kemudian melakukan komparasi atau perbandingan simulasi data actual lapangan dengan Aspen Adsorption V.10. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, data dalam penelitian ini adalah data operasional lapangan dan teknik pengambilan data dilakukan secara berkala melalui data loogsheet. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan Purity (kemurnian) pada bulan Oktober s/d November 2023 pada tanggal 05 dan 27 oktober yaitu 99,98 %, dengan flow 52,2 Nm3/h, sedangkan untuk bulan November terdapat 98,01 % (purity) dengan flow 105,0 Nm3/h. Dan setelah dilakukan simulasi menggunakan Aspen Adsorption V.10 dan menvariasikan data input didapat Purity sebesar 99,98 %, 99,97 %, 99,91 % dengan flow 100 Nm3/h, 150 Nm3/h, 200 Nm3/h atau 0,4461 kmol/s, 0,6692 kmol/s, 0,8992 kmol/s dalam aplikasi Aspen Adsorption V.10.Kata Kunci : Nitrogen, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Aspen Adsorption, Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS)
