Abstract

The ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict has garnered attention from Indonesian netizens, particularly on Twitter. Indonesian users actively express their support for Palestine, reflecting a commitment to sustainable development goals, notably human rights advocacy. This defense is evident in historical posts and comments on Twitter, portraying declarative illocutionary speech acts. Employing qualitative descriptive methods, this research analyzes the data to unveil the form and function of these speech acts. The pragmatic approach involves classifying context and cotext, providing a comprehensive understanding of the speech acts' nuances and functions in the given discourse. This study contributes to the exploration of Indonesian netizens' reactions and activism concerning global issues.

Abstract

Literary works are social reflections that are created from the union between reality and imagination. To obtain a picture of reality in a literary work, an in-depth study of the literary work is needed. The focus of this study is to investigate the periodization of the punk community and the ideology of punk freedom contained in the novel Akar by Dewi Lestari. The study, which was initiated using a qualitative approach, relies on Alan Swingewood's literary sociology paradigm. The main data source of this research is the novel Akar by Dewi Lestari. The data in this study are in the form of narratives, dialogs, or monologues that allegedly record traces of the punk community and represent the ideology of freedom of the punk community. The data is collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results showed that the periodization of the punk community depicted in the novel was in 1996-2001 as evidenced by the beginning of concern for socio-political issues. The existence of the punk community is also supported by the ideology of physical and psychological freedom of the characters. Physical freedom is illustrated in the storytelling of characters who tend to be different from the general public such as hairstyles (spike, and baldy), clothing styles and tattoos on the body. Psychic freedom is reflected in the narratives that describe the thinking style of characters such as Bong who chooses not to be bound to any institution and decision-making on each of Bodhi's journeys of self-discovery.

Abstract

Halal cullinare has become a necessity, especially in tourist areas. Therefore, halal certification is required, especially in locations with a majority non-Muslim population. Besides ensuring halal status, halal certification also serves as a means to promote local cullinare promising economic growth for the local community while preserving the rich culinary heritage. This community service project focuses on three villages on the slopes of Mount Bromo, namely Ngadiwono Village, Tlogosari, and Mojorejo. The program took place on June 25-26, 2023, with a primary focus on the Tosari Village rest area, in collaboration with the Baladaun community, local tourism communities (Pokdarwis), women's organizations (ibu-ibu PKK), and local SMEs (UMKM). Several activities have already been carried out, including the dissemination and education about halal certification, with experts and halal certification consultants from Brawijaya University invited to provide guidance. As a follow-up, the community service team will compile a halal certification guidebook containing instructions on administrative preparation, applying for halal certification through the Ministry of Religious Affairs' provided application, and providing assistance in preparing the necessary documentation for submission through the application.
