Abstract

The main issue for the elderly is the loss and damage of many teeth, leading to difficulties in chewing food. The most common cause of tooth loss is poor oral health, particularly dental caries and periodontitis. Elderly individuals often neglect oral hygiene and frequently complain of dental issues such as loose teeth, cavities, or swollen gums. The purpose of empowering communities through capacity building was to increase awareness of the importance of maintaining overall health, dental and oral health, and to assess the level of knowledge and the status of dental and oral health among the residents of Kedung Winong. The proposed solution to the problem is to increase residents' awareness of maintaining dental and oral health, enhance their knowledge of proper tooth brushing techniques, promote the habit of brushing teeth at appropriate times, and raise awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups as a preventive measure against chronic diseases. Methods of oral health counseling and examinations was chosen to solve the problems. The counseling and examination activities for the community in the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah branches in Kedungwinong, Nguter, Sukoharjo, were successfully implemented, with enthusiastic and cooperative participation. The activities effectively raised awareness about the importance of dental and oral health.

Abstract

Program pencegahan kekerasan terhadap anak dan perempuan yang dilaksanakan di Desa Oyom, Kecamatan Lampasio, Kabupaten Tolitoli.melalui Program pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 03 Agustus 2024. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang kekerasan, konsekuensinya, dan strategi pencegahan yang efektif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi diskusi tatap muka, ceramah dan simulasi kasus untuk melibatkan peserta secara aktif. Untuk memudahkan pemahaman, kami menyediakan materi edukasi seperti poster dan brosur. Metode pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, tanya jawab, dan dokumentasi untuk menilai perubahan pengetahuan dan sikap peserta. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran sosial, pencegah kekerasan pada  anak-anak dan perempuan serta memberi acuan upaya pencegahan kekerasan di masa depan.

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological research examined the role of parents and teachers in supporting the development of public speaking soft skills of fourth grade students of SDN Malulu, Tolitoli Regency.The study found two problems: students' lack of confidence in expressing their opinions and the lack of family support in communication.The study involved five participants: one homeroom teacher, two students (male and female), and two parents. The data were collected through various means, including observation, interviews, and documentation. These data were then analyzed using a variety of methods, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.The results of the study indicated that parents and teachers have important and complementary roles in supporting the development of public speaking soft skills in fourth grade students. Specifically, the findings showed that parents play a crucial role in fostering students' confidence and communication skills within the home environment. In contrast, teachers have a pivotal role in developing these skills through structured learning activities in the classroom.The collaboration between parents and teachers is found to be highly effective in nurturing students who possess both confidence and proficiency in public speaking. The comprehensive analysis of interviews and observations yielded a nuanced understanding of the contributions of parental and teacher support to students' development of social and public speaking skills.The findings of this study demonstrate the efficacy of parental and teacher support in fostering students' public speaking abilities, underscoring the significance of collaborative efforts in educational settings Keywords: Public Speaking, Teacher, The Role of Parents

Abstract

Dental caries is a chronic disease caused by damage to tooth enamel. The epidemiology of the prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia is 88.80%. Some cases are detected in more severe conditions that involve pulp damage. L-arginine is one of the substances that can prevent and inhibit the progression of dental caries pathogenesis. However, few studies have discussed the role of L-arginine. This literature review aims to evaluate the potential role of L-arginine in preventing dental caries. The research uses a systematic review approach on various databases, namely PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science published in the range of 2021 – 2025. Results: After the selection, as well as the screening of articles, 5 RCT articles were found, and 4 review articles were found in accordance with the research objectives. Most studies had observational analysis outputs less 1 year so they did not show long-term results, as well as side effects of L-arginine use. L-arginine can inhibit the progression of pathogenesis of dental caries disease, as well as reduce sensitivity symptoms in the oral cavity. DOI : 10.54052/jhds.v5n2.p151-162

Abstract

Tugas perkembangan remaja yang paling utama yaitu mampu menerima diri sendiri dan menemukan identitas dirinya. self esteem yang dimiliki oleh diri sendiri akan menjadi cermin bagaimana seseorang melihat atau memandang dirinya sebagai manusia. Tujuan pemberian psikoedukasi ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai cara meningkatkan self esteem. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam bentuk psikoedukasi tanpa pelatihan kepada siswa kelas X dan XI SMA IT Darul Fikri Makassar. Teknik Analisis data menggunakan software Microsoft Excel. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas X dan XI SMA IT Darul Fikri Makassar. Adapun jumlah partisipan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 41 siswa dengan usia 15-17 tahun. Hasil dari nilai pre-test sebesar 2,25 atau 3,3%, dan nilai rata-rata post-test sebesar 67 atau 96,7% menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan. Siswa menjadi lebih memahami self esteem dan menumbuhkan kesadaran untuk lebih peduli dan menyayangi dirinya sendiri.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to provide a systematic and evidence-based understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of integrating ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbot, in an educational context. Research Design & Methods This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a SWOT analysis framework to evaluate the strategic aspects of using ChatGPT in the teaching and learning process. Data were collected through a literature review and observation of the practice of using AI in education. Findings: The analysis shows that ChatGPT has strengths in generating logical and relevant responses, providing real-time feedback, and supporting personalized learning. However, there are weaknesses such as limited depth of understanding, potential bias, and inability to accurately assess cultural context and academic relevance. Opportunities include facilitating access to information and simplifying teaching activities, while threats include the risk of plagiarism, academic ethical challenges, and perpetuating discrimination in the learning process. Implications & Recommendations: This study recommends developing a holistic approach that integrates AI into instructional design while emphasizing the importance of strengthening critical thinking skills and digital literacy. In addition, clear ethical guidelines are needed to ensure fair and responsible use of ChatGPT. Contribution & Value Added: This study contributes by offering a SWOT-based evaluative framework to understand the impact of ChatGPT in education and provides direction for further research related to optimizing AI-based learning and developing ethical policies in academic writing.

Abstract

Introduction: Pulp necrosis is a pathological condition of the dental pulp that requires root canal treatment. Post-endodontic restoration is required to support the success of the root canal treatment, restore dental function, and improve aesthetics. In this case, the final restoration employed was a direct composite onlay with fiber reinforcement. Case: A 30-year-old female patient presented to the Dental Hospital of Soelastri, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), with a chief complaint of a carious tooth on the upper right jaw, which had been present for the past year. The diagnosis was established based on subjective, objective, and supplementary examinations. The diagnosis was pulp necrosis with apical periodontitis in tooth 14. Case Management: The patient underwent root canal treatment in accordance with the principles of the endodontic triad. Subsequently, the final restoration was placed as a direct composite onlay with fiber reinforcement. Discussion: A direct composite onlay with fiber reinforcement is a restoration that can be utilized following root canal treatment. The advantages of this restoration include its resistance to masticatory forces, favorable aesthetics, and color resemblance to dentin. Conclusion and Suggestions: Restoration after root canal treatment is crucial to ensure the success of the endodontic therapy. The use of a direct composite onlay with fiber reinforcement represents one of the options for the final restoration following root canal treatment.
