Abstract

Implementing guidance and counseling in schools aims to help students actualize themselves. In self-actualization, students need to get to know and understand themselves. In reality, in the service process, students often find it difficult to convey thoughts, experiences, and feelings directly. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the benefits of communication metaphors for students in providing guidance and counseling services, especially in exploring students' needs. Through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research design, relevant literature is collected, identified, studied, evaluated, and interpreted. The number of journals studied consisted of seven journals, which were journals that met the inclusion criteria. The results of the research concluded that metaphors in services can help students who have difficulty describing difficult experiences, and expressing thoughts and feelings through techniques such as writing and interviews. The results of the worsening metaphor also lead to changes in behavior for the better. The results of the study have implications as material for study in the field of guidance and counseling related to efforts to help students channel their needs, convey difficulties, and learn new behaviors to achieve optimal development.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' self-confidence at Nusantara Raya Junior High School through group guidance services with cognitive restructuring techniques. The method used in this research is mixed methods with explanatory sequential design, which combines quantitative and qualitative research. Data collection techniques for quantitative research were carried out through distributing questionnaires that had been validated by experts, while qualitative data were collected through observations and interviews with counseling teachers and three seventh grade students. This research was conducted at Nusantara Raya Junior High School with 14 seventh grade students divided into two groups: 7 students for the experimental group and 7 students for the control group. The results showed an increase in students' self-confidence through the application of group guidance services with cognitive restructuring techniques, with a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.002 <0.05, which indicates that H1 is accepted. This means that group guidance services with cognitive restructuring techniques are effective in increasing students' self-confidence at Nusantara Raya Junior High School.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan eksplorasi potensi diri melalui asesmen berbasis artificial intelligence (AI) pada peserta didik kelas 12 MAN Kota Cimahi. Latar belakang kegiatan ini didasarkan pada kebutuhan akan layanan perencanaan karier yang lebih personal dan merata, terutama di tengah keterbatasan jumlah guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (BK). Dengan rasio lima guru BK untuk 842 peserta didik, layanan perencanaan karier belum dapat menjangkau seluruh siswa secara optimal. Akibatnya, banyak peserta didik belum memahami potensi dirinya secara menyeluruh dan mengalami kesulitan dalam merancang rencana karier yang sesuai. Pemanfaatan asesmen berbasis AI menjadi solusi alternatif yang menjanjikan karena dapat membantu peserta didik mengevaluasi minat, kepribadian, dan kompetensinya secara mandiri, cepat, dan akurat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui serangkaian sesi pelatihan yang mencakup materi tentang pentingnya perencanaan karier, pemilihan jurusan berbasis AI, dan pengintegrasian teknologi AI dalam eksplorasi diri. Peserta pelatihan berjumlah 85 siswa kelas 12 di MAN Kota Cimahi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan jumlah peserta didik yang memiliki rencana karier, dari 17 menjadi 68 orang. Melalui pengenalan aplikasi seperti ChatGPT dan rencanamu.id, peserta menjadi lebih percaya diri dalam merencanakan karier di era Society 5.0.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine how students at SMA Negeri 1 Rongga prepare for their careers by using group guidance and problem solving techniques. The method used is Mixed Methods with the Explanatory Sequential Design design. The data obtained was normally distributed and homogeneous, then data analysis was carried out using parametric statistics via the t-test. The results of the t test and N-Gain test in the experimental group show that the significance value is 0.000. The significance value is less than a = 0.5, indicating that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest data from the experimental group. This shows that high school students' career planning using group guidance and problem solving techniques produces effective results.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to mental health problems due to rapid biological, psychological, and social changes. Addressing these issues requires effective and systemic interventions, one of which is family counseling. Objective: This study aims to review the role and effectiveness of family counseling in improving adolescent mental health. Method: A systematic literature review (SLR) method was used to analyze relevant studies and provide a comprehensive understanding applicable to clinical and policy settings. Results: The findings reveal that family counseling is effective in treating anxiety, depression (including Major Depressive Disorder), eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, internet gaming disorder, suicidal ideation, and self-harm behaviors. It also enhances parental support, improves communication and relationships within families, strengthens family functioning, and fosters a healthier home environment. Furthermore, it supports better emotional regulation, adaptability, positive coping strategies, and school adjustment in adolescents. Conclusion: Family counseling offers a holistic approach to adolescent mental health. Contribution: This study contributes theoretically and practically to the understanding of family-based mental health interventions for youth.

Abstract

Background: Losing a spouse is one of life’s most devastating experiences, particularly when the loss occurs suddenly or through violence. The mode of death can significantly shape the bereavement process and emotional recovery. Objective: This study aimed to examine differences in grief and trauma responses among bereaved partners who experienced either sudden or violent spousal loss. Method: The research employed a descriptive survey design and was conducted in Anambra State, Nigeria, with 67 purposively selected participants aged 18 and above. Data were collected via a structured online questionnaire that included demographic items and standardized grief and trauma measures (reliability coefficients α = 0.87 and α = 0.89, respectively). The analysis utilized SPSS v25, including descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and MANOVA, with a 0.05 significance level. Results: Individuals who experienced violent spousal loss reported significantly higher levels of grief, including emotional numbness (M = 3.40), a sense of life being meaningless (M = 3.70), and social isolation (M = 3.30) compared to those who experienced sudden loss, t(65) = -2.15, p = .036. However, trauma levels did not differ significantly between the groups (p = .577). Distinct patterns emerged: violent loss was associated with emotional detachment and concentration difficulties, while sudden loss was linked to more frequent unwanted memories. Conclusion: The study concludes that the nature of spousal loss has a greater impact on grief than trauma. These findings suggest that grief responses vary significantly depending on whether the loss was sudden or violent. Contribution: The findings contribute to the development of more effective emotional care strategies for the bereaved, ensuring that interventions are better suited to the emotional needs of individuals experiencing different types of spousal loss.
