Abstract

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one of the spice plants used for cooking or traditional medicine in Indonesia. Ginger variations are highly diverse in the Garut region, hence there is a need for the characterization of ginger plants to identify the germplasm present in the Garut area. This research was conducted at several points in the Garut region by observing the morphological characteristics of ginger based on Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants. The morphological characteristics observed include overall plant morphology, including stem, leaves, and rhizomes. After the data were collected based on predetermined criteria according to descriptors, the data were processed using NTSYS 2.1 to determine the relatedness of the ginger varieties found. Based on the analysis of the dendrogram results, it is shown that among the red ginger varieties (A1 and A5), there is a coefficient value of 0.65, indicating a high similarity in properties. Elephant ginger (A3, A2) and emprit ginger (A6) have a coefficient value of 0.45, indicating a close relatedness between elephant ginger and red ginger, while elephant ginger (A4 and A7) has a coefficient value of 0.50, indicating close relatedness.

Abstract

Coastal areas are border areas between land and sea areas. One of the phenomena that occurs in coastal areas is abrasion and sedimentation. Sedimentation results in the formation of raised soil in areas near the estuary. This research aims to identify the formation of emergent soil through continuous observation of Google Earth satellite images. The research was conducted at the mouth of the Ciwulan River, Karangnunggal District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. The research was carried out in April – June 2023. The method used in this research was a comparison of each satellite each year. Based on observations of satellite imagery from year to year, it is observed that the volume of water in the Ciwulan River has increased, causing the area of emerging land to start to decrease from year to year in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The decrease in emerging land is due to abrasion at the mouth of the river, so the emerging land has disappeared because it was submerged by the high volume of river water.

Abstract

Budidaya seperti sayuran di lahan perkotaan salah satunya dapat dilakukan dengan metode hidroponik. Instalasi hidroponik yang tidak terlalu memakan tempat adalah dengan tower hidroponik dan aqua-aeroponik. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan hidroponik tipe tower-aeroponik dan aqua-aeroponik untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat di sekitar Kelurahan Pataruman, khususnya di perumahan Pataruman Indah, Tarogong Kidul - Garut. Pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini diikuti oleh ibu-ibu PKK Pataruman dan pejabat setempat yang dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2023, serta akan bekerja sama berkelanjutan untuk kegiatan program MBKM Fakultas Pertanian UNIGA kedepannya. Kegiatan meliputi proses pengenalan alat dan cara operasinya, pembibitan untuk tower-aeroponik dan jadwal serta komposisi pemberian makan lele pada aqua-aeroponic. Adanya aqua-aeroponik dapat menjadi solusi bagi sampah sisa sayuran di rumah tangga, dan menjadi salah satu alternatif budidaya sayuran di lahan perkotaan. Metode yang dilakukan untuk melihat keberhasilan acara adalah dengan melakukan pre test dan post test. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian, para peserta sangat antusias dengan pengenalan inovasi hidroponik dengan metode tower-aeroponik dan Aqua-aeroponik ini. Hasil pre test dan post test menunjukkan peserta mendapatkan wawasan baru dalam proses pengelolaan dan menambah keterampilan yang kedepannya diharapkan dapat berkelanjutan untuk membudidayakan sayuran organik di daerah perkotaan.
