Abstract

The results of the 2018 Riskesdas stated that 93% of young children have dental caries. One of the reasons is provision of food and drinks that cause caries. A mother has a major role in caring of children, such as teach healthy habits because children often imitate the adults. This education can help reduce the risk of dental caries in the family and increase awareness about the important role of food in dental health. This activity was carried out at RPTRA Harapan Mulia, Central Jakarta, with the aim of increasing mothers' knowledge about foods with low caries risk. The methods used include counseling using educational books about foods and drinks that are good for teeth, toothbrushes, and oral dental examinations. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference P <0.05 regarding knowledge before and after being given education. Educational books make it easier for participants to catch information.

Abstract

Introduction. Adolescents are unique individuals who are in transition to adulthood. At this time, adolescents have a desire to have an attractive appearance. Teenagers also tend to have a habit of smoking, drinking coffee or tea. These habits can reduce the beauty of teeth due to tooth discolouration. The study was conducted by pre-test and post-test on the respondents who had been divided into control group (poster) and intervention group (video).Results. There was an increase in the percentage of adolescents who had good perceptions and knowledge about teeth whitening treatment after being given education. There was no difference in perception before and after the intervention but there was a significant increase in knowledge in the provision of education with audiovisual media. Conclusion. Abstract

Background: Temporomandibular joint disorder is a chronic pain caused by various factors including trauma, occlusal condition, and stress. This case report will explain about TMD case in prosthodontic which is treated with a single denture. Methods: A 50-year-old woman came to the dental clinic with aches and pains in the jaw and muscles around the head and neck. She has been using a removable denture since two months ago, but she feels uncomfortable with it. We made a new denture with an appropriate vertical dimension for the patient, with the tooth arrangement as close to the compensating curves as possible. We also trained her to do some exercises for the head and neck muscle. Results: After wearing the new denture and doing a series of muscle therapy, the patient begins to feel that the aches and pains are starting to decrease. She can more easily open and close her mouth and her lower jaw no longer feels so vibrating. Conclusion: Based on the results of clinical and subjective examinations, apart from tooth loss, all the conditions experienced by the patient also seem to be related to emotional stress due to the problems encountered.
