Abstract

This is an empirical study on the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic welfare, and foreign direct investment in 6 ASEAN countries over period 2005-2019 using Panel-Vector Error Correction Model. Specifically, the unit root test, cointegration test, Granger causality test, and vector error correction model are imployed for the estimations. Empirical results do not confirm feedback causality between renewable energy consumption and gross domestic product per capita. The empirical results indicate that there is causality, short-term and long-term relationship between renewable energy consumption, gross domestic product per capita, and foreign direct investment. Furthermore, the result for long run causality from renewable energy consumption have negative effect to gross domestic product per capita. Additionally, short- run causality from renewable energy consumption and gross domestic product per capita have positive effect to foreign direct investment. On the other hand, short-run causality from foreign direct investment have negative effect to gross domestic product per capita.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Modal Berkah program organized by OK OCE Indonesia on the sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jakarta. The evaluation is conducted using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product) to assess the background of the program implementation, availability of resources, conduct of activities, and the results achieved. This study employs a mixed-method approach with data collection through questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Respondents in this study consist of MSME actors who are participants in the program as well as the organizers. The results show that the Modal Berkah program is quite effective in providing access to capital and basic entrepreneurship training. However, there are still shortcomings in the aspects of ongoing assistance and sustainability evaluation of the businesses. Therefore, this program is considered to have a positive impact on the sustainability of MSMEs. However, there needs to be an enhancement in the process and follow-up to ensure that the program results can be optimally sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and government expenditure on foreign direct investment (FDI) in the ASEAN region. Utilizing secondary data from 2010-2023 sourced from UNCTAD, Transparency International, and the World Bank, this research applies a panel data regression method using the Random Effect Model (REM). The primary findings reveal contrasting outcomes. On a partial basis, the CPI was found to have no significant effect on FDI inflows. Conversely, government expenditure demonstrated a significant positive influence. This result implies that for foreign investors in the ASEAN region during the study period, government spending allocation was a more dominant consideration than the perception of corruption levels.
