Abstract

This study aims to examine the innovation of digital-based Arabic learning models, particularly regarding Human Resource (HR) innovations and the utilization of digital facilities at three Islamic Higher Education (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/PTKI) Institutions in Southeast Sulawesi. This qualitative research employs a phenomenological approach, with data collected from primary and secondary sources through observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and document studies. The data was analyzed using categorization, description, and synthesis techniques, with data validity tested through triangulation. The findings of this article indicate that the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Kendari, the Islamic College (STAI) YPIQ Baubau, and the Islamic Institute (IAI) Al-Mawaddah Warahmah Kolaka have implemented innovations in digital-based Arabic learning models. The creativity of human resources (lecturers, students, and administrative staff) shows different adaptation styles in utilizing digital facilities. These innovations have facilitated Arabic language learning but have not been fully supported by the digital competence of human resources at these three institutions. In terms of digital facilities meeting standard requirements, the three Islamic Higher Education Institutions exhibit varying levels of innovation in digital-based Arabic learning models, especially in operational digital formats, HR competence readiness, and availability of facilities. The digital-based Arabic learning model innovations at these institutions offer advantages, compatibility, and religious complexity. These innovations are implemented with a commitment to enhancing HR creativity and providing representative digital facilities based on needs.

Abstract

Data security has become very important to protect data from threats such as theft and manipulation in this digital era. This research investigates how the hybrid Caesar-Vigenere Cipher method that combines Caesar Cipher and Vigenere Cipher algorithms protects text data with double encryption. This method uses the Three-Pass Protocol, which allows the sender and receiver to exchange messages without sharing keys, increasing the complexity of the ciphertext and improving the defense against brute force attacks. The results show that the hybrid algorithm improves the security of text data better than the single encryption method, especially for small to medium-sized applications. This research offers a practical solution to the problem of data security in the digital era.

Abstract

This study originates from the increasing use of artificial intelligence-based translation tools such as Google Translate and Chat-GPT in translating culturally embedded texts like Indonesian proverbs. The research focuses on the comparative analysis of translation outputs from both tools, particularly in the context of translating 26 selected Indonesian proverbs into Arabic. The objective is to evaluate how well each tool captures both the structural and semantic aspects of these culturally nuanced expressions. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the translations were analyzed through the lens of structural and semantic linguistics. The analysis revealed that while Google Translate tends to render literal translations that often fail to convey idiomatic or metaphorical meanings accurately, Chat-GPT demonstrates a higher capability in interpreting and contextualizing the intended meanings of the proverbs. The findings highlight a significant difference in the depth of linguistic and cultural understanding between the two tools, with Chat-GPT showing greater effectiveness in semantic adaptation. This suggests that AI-powered conversational models can provide more contextually appropriate translations, particularly for texts rich in cultural values. The study concludes that linguistic intelligence, especially in semantic interpretation, is crucial in achieving meaningful cross-lingual translation of idiomatic expressions.

Abstract

Non-test assessment is an evaluation method that focuses on students’ processes and performance in real contexts without relying on written examinations. This study aims to analyze the implementation of non-test assessment in the mahārah kalām (speaking skills) course at three higher education institutions: STAI Masjid Syuhada (STAIMS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta (UIN Suka). Employing a multi-site case study with a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory classroom observations, and analysis of assessment documents and student outputs. The findings reveal diverse strategies tailored to each institution’s characteristics. STAIMS applies a project-based assessment by producing Arabic-language vlogs to enhance communication, creativity, and digital literacy. UMY adopts a process-based approach through simulations and role-play, enabling gradual skill development with direct feedback. UIN Suka relies on intensive muḥādathah and khiṭābah minbarīyah practices to refine fluency and formal rhetoric. All three models are grounded in authentic and performance-based assessment principles, evaluating competence contextually, applicatively, and holistically. This study underscores that diverse approaches can complement one another in developing Arabic speaking proficiency, offering comparative insights into locally adapted pedagogical innovations aligned with learners’ needs and learning contexts.
