Abstract

Pembentukan sumberdaya manusia untuk memiliki pengetahuan Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa internasional sangat bermanfaat untuk promosi Wisata daerah. Hal ini melatarbelakangi pelatihan Bahasa Inggris terhadap Santri Markazul Quran Nurul Huda Panyalaian. Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Sumatera Barat melaksanakan kegiatan studi wisata terhadapan Santri Markazul Quran ke kota wisata Bukittinggi. Focus pelatihan adalah pengumpulan kosakata tentang objek wisata berupa bangunan, lapangan, monument, market, kuliner, cendramata, margasatwa dan benda budaya oleh para santri. Metode yang digunakan pada pengumpulan kosakata oleh para santri adalah metode kooperatif dalam kerja kelompok dengan Teknik observasi dan pencatatan. Pada saat pelatihan pengucapan terhadap para santri, tim menggunakan Teknik Repetition dan drill. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah antusias para santri dalam bentuk laporan catatan dan persentasi kosakata bahasa Inggris mengenai objek wisata di kota Bukittinggi. Pelatihan ini dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan santri akan pentingnya wisata kota Bukittinggi yang memiliki banyak nilai Sejarah dan budaya. Pengetahuan ini dapat mereka promosikan kepada wisatawan dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris yang dimulai dengan pengayaan kosakata bertema wisata.

Abstract

Penerapan teknologi dalam dunia Pendidikan sudah menjadi kebutuhan utama. Teknologi digunakan untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran dan membantu meningkatkan proses penyerapan ilmu secara signifikan oleh pembelajar. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat oleh dosen Universitas Sumatera Barat ini menerapkan teknologi Augmented Reality dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk Mahasiswa Kebidanan Universitas Sumatera Barat. Hal ini bertujuan menghilangkan kecemasan dan kebosanan mahasiswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Teknologi Augmented reality menghadirkan animasi gambar 3 dimensi seolah-olah menjadi gambar yang nyata pada tampilannya. Dengan menampilkan animasi gambar nyata dengan penjelasan teks berserta audionya dapat memberi pemahaman yang mendalam untuk mahasiswa. Hasil pelaksanaan pelatihan bahasa Inggris dengan media Augmented Reality ini sangat membuat mahasiswa tertarik dan antusias dalam kegiatan. Penyerapan materi bahasa Inggris berupa kosakata dan tatabahasa pun mudah dipahami oleh mahasiswa. Diakhir kegiatan,  tim memberikan game interaktif agar dapat memberikan refleksi terhadap materi yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa.

Abstract

The author conducted a systematic review of the published literature on the use of social media in learning English to answer two questions. These research questions are (1) How do the results of the intervention using social media affect learning achievement and outcomes such as learning motivation, interest, understanding, attitudes and skills for English language learners? (2) What are the obstacles and benefits of implementing social media by teachers? This study uses a systematic review method with the PICO technique in searching for articles to be reviewed. Reviews were written according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reporting and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). The author also uses the Publish or Perish application and VOSviewer to determine research gaps. The author is looking for articles that discuss social media interventions in learning English as a foreign language. The results obtained were fourteen pieces of literature that met the inclusion criteria. Interventions that use social media are associated with the effectiveness and success of achieving learning outcomes (test scores) and English language skills, and attitudes (cooperation, collaborative and cooperative). The conclusion is that social media interventions in learning English can improve students’ language skills as seen in the form of values, skills, motivational attitudes, self-confidence, ability to communicate and collaborate, critical thinking and self-efficacy in English. Benefits for teachers, social media can help promote teaching, motivate students, support and build teaching.

Abstract

Pentingnya penguasaan kemampuan Berbahasa Inggris mahasiswa secara Internasional sering diuji dengan TOEFL. Hal ini menjadi salah satu matakuliah wajib mahasiswa S1 Kebidanan Universitas Sumatera Barat (UNISBAR). Namun, proses pembelajarannya mengalami tantangan yang cukup sulit oleh mahasiswa karena adanya persepsi sulit dan membosankan. Oleh karena itu tim pengabdian melaksanakan pelatihan TOEFL diluar jam mata kuliah TOEFL. Pelatihan ini menggunakan media Quizizz untuk meningkatkan minat dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah participatory training dan gamification. Tim melakukan pre-test untuk mengukur kemampuan awal mahasiswa dan melaksanakan post-test untuk mendapatkan hasil dari pelatihan. Hasil yang didapatkan terjadinya peningkatan nilai score TOEFL mahasiswa dan mendapatkan persepsi positif terhadap pembelajaran TOEFL. Pelatihan ini sangat membantu semangat dosen untuk mengembangkan media interaktif dan inovatif dalam pembelajaran TOEFL. Bagi mahasiswa, pelatihan ini menjadi wadah penumbuh partisipasi aktif serta menumbuhkan ketertarikan dan pemahaman terhadap materi TOEFL.

Abstract

Grammar understanding is the main point to get the English skill. This study explores the development of a website-based English learning application aimed at enhancing grammar understanding, utilizing Google Sites as the platform. The application was developed following the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Waterfall Model, encompassing phases of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The primary objective was to create an accessible, user-friendly platform that provides comprehensive grammar tutorials, interactive exercises, and quizzes to reinforce learning. During the development process, key user needs were identified, leading to the design of a structured and responsive website. The implementation phase focused on integrating multimedia content and interactive elements to engage learners and facilitate effective grammar practice. Testing involved both functionality and user experience assessments, with feedback indicating that the application successfully supported grammar learning, though some improvements were recommended for clarity and content breadth. The study concludes that using Google Sites for educational purposes offers a practical solution for creating accessible learning tools. The application demonstrated significant potential in enhancing grammar understanding among users, with future improvements suggested to expand the range of topics and interactive features. This project provides a foundation for further exploration of web-based language learning applications using low-cost, widely available platforms.

Abstract

To create midwifery student professionalism in the topic of learning Midwifery Services, lecturers need a structured learning design. The form of learning in Midwifery services is very suitable using the Experiential learning method. This Experiential learning method has four cycles of phases in shaping the experience of becoming professional in students. The method used in this research is Research and Development. The research subjects were Midwifery students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Barat. The research object is a Midwifery Service learning topic with learning materials Offering Services, Giving Direction and Persuade. The results obtained are in the form of a Learning Design which contains the learning flow of Midwifery Services in English in the Experiential Learning model. The circular phases are Active Experimentation (Students carry out oral conversation practice based on the theme of conditions experienced every day and Midwifery Services), Concrete Experience (Students are asked to demonstrate the expressions of offering service, giving direction, and persuading in Indonesian Language. The teacher plays video/audio expressions offering service, giving direction, and persuading), Reflective Observation (Learners compare functions, language structures in the utterances heard and compare with English conversation in Midwifery Services), Abstract Conceptualization (Students arrange and make conversations based on the function and structure of linguistic rules using various expressions. Students are given the opportunity to make conversations based on the theme of the conditions experienced in the practice of midwifery services).
