Abstract

enelitian ini di latar belakangi permasalahan yaitu masih rendahnya kemampuan membaca siswa karena siswa kurang Siswa juga masih kesulitan dalam menulis yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya penguasaan kosakata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan hubungan Penguasaan Kosakata dengan Kemampuan menulis teks berita pada Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Tebo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian korerasi. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Tebo yang terdaftar pada tahun 2022/2023. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X yang berjumlah 58 orang. Data penelitian ini adalah tes objektif penguasaan kosakatadan skor kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Tebo. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan sebagai berikut. Pertama, penguasaan kosa kata siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Tebo diperoleh nilai rata-rata 88,71 berada pada rentangan 86-95% pada skala 10, dengan kualifikasi baik (B). Kedua, kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Tebo diperoleh nilai rata-rata hitung 78,33 berada pada rentangan 76-85% pada skala 10, dengan kualifikasi Baik (B). Ketiga, terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dengan kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP N 30 Tebo . Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan kosa kata mempengaruhi siswa dalam menulis teks berita . Hal ini terlihat dari hasil pengujian yang membuktikan bahwa thitung > dari ttabel yaitu 2,39 1,70.

Abstract

Strong speaking skills are an essential component of pharmaceutical practice, particularly when delivering medication information with appropriate professionalism and empathy toward patients. However, oral communication training in pharmacist professional education often remains overlooked. In response to this gap, this community engagement program aimed to enhance the speaking abilities of students in the Apothecary Professional Program at Universitas Perintis Indonesia through the use of the role play technique. Ten students participated in the training, which was conducted in two sessions: a theoretical session and a practical session focusing on speaking skills related to pharmaceutical issues through role play. During the practice session, eight pharmacist–patient communication scenarios were designed and enacted by the participants. Evaluation was carried out using an observation checklist covering five main indicators: sentence structure, diction, intonation, therapeutic messaging, and patient responsiveness. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the students’ ability to convey information orally in a more communicative, clear, and empathetic manner. The role play technique proved effective not only in enhancing technical speaking skills but also in fostering students’ awareness of the importance of humanistic and professional communication in pharmacy practice. Consequently, integrating this method into the curriculum emerges as a strategic approach to preparing future pharmacists who are both clinically competent and sensitive to patients’ needs.

Abstract

Grammar understanding is the main point to get the English skill. This study explores the development of a website-based English learning application aimed at enhancing grammar understanding, utilizing Google Sites as the platform. The application was developed following the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Waterfall Model, encompassing phases of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The primary objective was to create an accessible, user-friendly platform that provides comprehensive grammar tutorials, interactive exercises, and quizzes to reinforce learning. During the development process, key user needs were identified, leading to the design of a structured and responsive website. The implementation phase focused on integrating multimedia content and interactive elements to engage learners and facilitate effective grammar practice. Testing involved both functionality and user experience assessments, with feedback indicating that the application successfully supported grammar learning, though some improvements were recommended for clarity and content breadth. The study concludes that using Google Sites for educational purposes offers a practical solution for creating accessible learning tools. The application demonstrated significant potential in enhancing grammar understanding among users, with future improvements suggested to expand the range of topics and interactive features. This project provides a foundation for further exploration of web-based language learning applications using low-cost, widely available platforms.

Abstract

Metacognitive knowledge is an important aspect that can help students achieve success in writing. Success in writing is greatly influenced by metacognitive knowledge bases such as personal, task, and strategy. Therefore, this study aims to determine students' metacognitive awareness in writing procedural texts of grade XI Phase F students of SMKN 1 Solok Selatan. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive methods. The sample in this study was 95 grade XI students at SMKN 1 Solok Selatan. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis was carried out in two ways, namely descriptive analysis for questionnaire data and content analysis for interview results. The results of this study show two things, namely: First, the level of metacognitive awareness and metacognitive strategies in writing procedural texts of students is classified as very high with a percentage of 80.78%. In terms of increasing awareness, students have knowledge that is classified as high with a percentage of 74.63%. In terms of monitoring and evaluation which is classified as very high with a percentage of 85.28%, and in terms of control and regulation it is also classified as very high with a percentage of 82.43%. Second, the metacognitive strategies used by students in writing involve several stages: planning, which involves selecting a topic, understanding the concept of the material, and gathering relevant information. The next stage is development, which involves developing ideas and identifying any obstacles encountered. Finally, evaluation involves summarizing the text to ensure it adheres to linguistic rules and structure. Keywords: Metacognitive Awareness, Writing, Procedural Text

Abstract

Speaking is a core competency in language learning that students often struggle to master due to a lack of confidence and limited oral expression. The Snowball Throwing model, as a cooperative learning strategy, offers an interactive approach to address this challenge. Through a literature review, this article examines the theoretical basis, implementation steps, benefits, and challenges of the Snowball Throwing model in improving students' speaking skills, based on academic literature. The purpose of this study is to improve students' speaking skills using the Snowball Throwing learning model and to determine students' responses to the Snowball Throwing learning model in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing importance of public speaking in improving the quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in the era of Society 5.0. The development of Society 5.0 requires the education sector to possess more adaptive communication skills that align with technological advancements and the demands of 21st-century competencies. In this context, public speaking becomes a crucial skill that needs to be strengthened to ensure learning processes are more effective and relevant. This research aims to examine the urgency of public speaking skills in enhancing the quality of education in Indonesia during the Society 5.0 era. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach by reviewing various literature related to public speaking, modern competencies, and educational transformation. The findings indicate that public speaking skills help clarify communication between teachers and students, enhance students’ self-confidence, and support collaborative and project-based learning. Moreover, this skill contributes to the integration of technology in education, such as digital presentations, educational videos, and virtual discussions. The study also finds that strengthening public speaking fosters an active and communicative learning environment, which positively impacts learning outcomes. Overall, public speaking is identified as an essential competency that must be systematically integrated into educational practices to support the development of high-quality and competitive education in the Society 5.0 era.
