Abstract

Background: Namnam (Cynometra cauliflora L.) has been reported to contain bioactive compounds that are beneficial as being antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant. Namnam fruit (Cynometra cauliflora L.) is a herbal plant that has antibacterial properties because it contains chemicals in the form of tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. Purpose: To determine the content of phytochemical compounds contained in them and their activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Eshcerichia coli. Method: The method used in this study was agar diffusion using blank disks and the measurement of the inhibition of the test bacteria. Result: The results showed that Namnam fruit juice (Cynometra cauliflora L.) was proven to contain alkaloids, phenol, flavonoid, and saponin phytochemicals. The results of the inhibition zone measurement for S. aureus bacteria at a 100% concentration showed 6 mm and for E. coli bacteria at a 100% concentration showed 7.33 mm, which means that the inhibition zone of the two bacteria was quite intense. It meant that the higher the concentration, the greater the inhibition zone and the stronger the antibacterial activity produced. Namnam fruit juice activity in inhibiting the growth of E. coli bacteria was more substantial when compared to S. aureus bacteria. Conclusion: The result of this study concluded that Namnam fruit juice had the potential to be an antibacterial agent.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: How to improve students' narrative writing skills using serial picture media for class IV SD Negeri Bontoramba 1 Makassar City. This type of research uses classroom action research (CAR). The research subjects were fourth grade students at SD Negeri Bontoramba 1 Makassar. Data collection techniques are observation, tests and documentation. The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive quantitative statistical analysis. The results of the research carried out showed that the improvement in students' narrative writing skills using serial picture media increased as seen from teacher and student observations as well as test results where cycle I showed that the percentage of students whose scores were above the KKM only reached 30% so that the student scores above the KKM increased to 85%. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that using serial image media can improve students' narrative writing skills. at SD Negeri Bontoramba 1 Makassar.

Abstract

Ekstrak kulit buah Balangkasua (Lepisanthes alata) berpotensi digunakan sebagai pewarna alami pengganti eosin 2% pada pemeriksaan telur cacing Ascaris lumbricoides. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas ekstrak etanol kulit buah Balangkasua dalam memberikan kontras warna dan kejelasan struktur mikroskopis telur cacing dibandingkan eosin 2%. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan metode quasi-eksperimental menggunakan sampel feses positif telur Ascaris lumbricoides. Simplisia kering kulit buah Balangkasua dimaserasi dengan etanol 96% dan diuji fitokimia untuk identifikasi antosianin. Preparat feses diwarnai dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak (20–100%) dan dibandingkan dengan kontrol eosin 2%. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kontras warna telur, kejelasan cangkang, detail morfologi internal, bentuk dan ukuran, serta kontras latar belakang. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Balangkasua positif mengandung antosianin, namun kualitas pewarnaan pada semua konsentrasi masih lebih rendah dibandingkan eosin 2% (skor 1–3 vs. 4). Uji Kruskal–Wallis menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada seluruh parameter (p < 0,05). Kesimpulannya, meskipun ekstrak kulit buah Balangkasua memiliki potensi sebagai pewarna alami ramah lingkungan, efektivitasnya masih belum sebanding dengan eosin 2% sehingga perlu optimasi lebih lanjut.
