Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of the principal in developing student character at TKIT Az-Zahra Demak, especially in implementing the Independent Curriculum. The focus of this research is to understand the strategies, challenges and impact of school principal leadership on strengthening the character of early childhood. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The research results show that school principals have a strategic role in integrating character values ​​into learning activities and school culture. The school principal acts as a learning leader, facilitator and motivator for teachers and provides support in developing character-based programs. In addition, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum provides flexibility in designing contextual and meaningful learning for students. However, there are challenges in terms of developing teacher competency and collaboration with parents. This research concludes that the success of character development at TKIT Az-Zahra Demak is very dependent on the commitment of the school principal, collaboration between parties, and support from the school environment. The recommendations of this research include the need for continuous training for teachers and strengthening synergy between schools and families in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

The enforcement of discipline at school environment is important to create a condusive learning atmosphere. Howeverit sometimes faces child protection regulation poin 35 of 2014 about child’s protection. This study aims to examine the conflict appear between the implementation of disciplinary enforcement by the school and the legal limitations ruled in the child protection law, especially in SMA N 1 Kembang Jepara. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques and interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The result of the study showed there is dilemma faced by teachers and school stake holders in deciding strict action for students who break the rules for there is consideration of violating the children rights. This conflict appears because of lack of balanced understanding between legal protection for children and need for discipline in the education. The study recommends the need for special training for educators regarding legal limitations in enforcing discipline. As well as the importance of preparing national standart procedures (SOP)for discipline that are in line with statutory regulations. Effective communication could be done by the stake holders to minimize the different perception that triggers the emerged conflict.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi implikasi dari penerapan pembelajaran sistem Among yang dipadukan dengan konsep kodrat zaman dalam konteks pendidikan di Indonesia. Sistem Among, yang dicetuskan oleh Ki Hajar Dewantara, menekankan pentingnya kebebasan individu dan pembimbingan sesuai dengan potensi setiap siswa. Sedangkan kodrat zaman mengacu pada adaptasi metode dan materi pembelajaran yang relevan dengan kondisi dan tantangan era modern. Metodologi penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kasus di lembaga yang telah mengimplementasikan sistem Among. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan kepala sekolah dan guru kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan sistem Among  meningkatkan kemandirian, kreativitas, dan karakter siswa. Siswa yang belajar dengan sistem Among menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterlibatan yang lebih tinggi dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun, penelitian juga mengidentifikasi beberapa tantangan dalam implementasi dan resistensi dari beberapa pihak terhadap perubahan metode pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kombinasi sistem Among dengan adaptasi terhadap kodrat zaman dapat menghasilkan lingkungan belajar yang lebih dinamis dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan siswa di era digital.
