Abstract

Buya Hamka, or Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah, is a revolutionary figure in Islamic education in Indonesia. His progressive thoughts blend traditional Islamic values with modern ideas, creating a new educational paradigm relevant to contemporary developments. This study examines the influence of Buya Hamka's thoughts and interpretations of educational verses in the Quran on the development of Islamic education in Indonesia. Through "Tafsir Al-Azhar," Buya Hamka offers contextual interpretations that integrate traditional Islamic values with modern thought, establishing an educational paradigm pertinent to the times. This research employs qualitative analysis methods with book research for data collection. The findings reveal several implications of Hamka's interpretations for Islamic education in Indonesia, including implications for the nature of education, which is not merely focused on the transfer of knowledge, character education theory, and the ultimate goals of education. Additionally, the study identifies implications for Indonesian educational policies, methods of educational application that encompass both cognitive and psychomotor aspects, and the implications for educational institutions he founded.

Abstract

Abstract

Zakat is a key Islamic institution designed to promote social welfare, as mandated in the Qur’an and Sunnah. However, in contemporary practice, zakat has not yet effectively addressed economic disparities within the Muslim community. Fazlur Rahman, a leading modern Islamic scholar, reinterprets zakat using the Double Movement method, aligning its objectives with present socio-economic realities and advocating its integration into fiscal policies, including its potential role as an Islamic tax system. Through library research on Rahman’s works and secondary sources, this study finds that zakat is fundamentally a divine mandate aimed at transforming mustahik (recipients) into muzakki (givers) through productive means, fostering economic self-sufficiency. Rahman views zakat as evolving from a purely spiritual obligation into a mechanism of social empowerment, historically administered from the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW to today as a tool for economic redistribution and justice. The study highlights the ideal moral implications of zakat in enhancing productivity and social welfare. Key aspects include effective zakat management, equitable distribution, timing, and measurement, which can be adapted to modern economic conditions. By implementing these principles, zakat can function as a sustainable instrument for economic empowerment, ensuring both spiritual and material prosperity within the Muslim community

Abstract

The study of Qur'anic verses in the classification of qath'iy and zhanniy is known to be not a new discourse. Muslim scientists in the classical era have initiated the discussion of qath'iy and zhanniy within the framework of ijtihad in understanding texts in the contemporary era, the issue of qath'iy and zhanniy, even though their discussion has been preceded in the classical era, it is realized that they still leave room for discussion related to their contextualism rather than simply its dogmative doctrine. From the perspective of scientific authority, for example, there is a view that suggests that the issue of qath'iy and zhanniy is more appropriate to be a discourse on ushul fiqh rather than 'ulum Al-QurÄn and was not one of the subjects of discussion for muftassirin in the process of interpretation. Other than that, According to Imam As-Syatibi, the categorization of Qur'anic verses into qathiy and zhanniy is the ulama's ijtihad which does not have to be viewed dogmatically. So that in terms and applications qathiy and zhanniy must be understood in a more dynamic sense.

Abstract

Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia encounter ongoing obstacles in securing formal education for their children. These barriers stem primarily from unresolved citizenship status and insufficient documentation. While Community Learning Centers (CLCs) offer basic education for children aged eight and above, early childhood development support remains inadequate. Limited parental knowledge and mothers' demanding work schedules further compound these challenges. This community service program aims to strengthen parenting skills among migrant worker parents, empowering them to better support their children's development. The initiative encompasses structured parenting workshops and play-based learning sessions designed to enhance parent-child interactions while fostering children's self-confidence and learning motivation. The program's primary beneficiaries are migrant worker parents and their children enrolled at the Gombak Utara Community Learning Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The intervention employs the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, emphasizing active community participation and collaborative problem-solving. Findings demonstrate enhanced maternal understanding of quality parenting practices through nurturing interactions, play activities, supportive home learning environments, appropriate parenting approaches, and Islamic values integration. Participants exhibited notable shifts in parenting attitudes, evidenced by heightened awareness in evaluating their previously employed parenting methods.

Abstract

The interpretator's background influences the style and characteristics of the interpretation he writes. Likewise, the interpretation products in Indonesia will be very different from the interpretations from the Middle East. From this background, the researcher will reveal the uniqueness and characteristics of interpretation in Indonesia through the methodological principles used in its interpretation. The object of this research is Tafsir Al-Misbah by Quraish Shihab and Tafsir Al-Azhar by Hamka. From this study, it was found that there are several specific methodological principles carried out by Quraish Shihab and Hamka, including taking many sources of interpretation from other tafsirs and in their interpretation, it was found that both opinions were very thick with Indonesian culture.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas profesional guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) MGMP Kabupaten Bandung Barat melalui tiga program utama, yaitu peningkatan kompetensi administrasi dan keuangan digital, penguatan karakter siswa, dan penguasaan tafsir digital. Permasalahan mitra meliputi lemahnya tata kelola administrasi, terbatasnya strategi pembelajaran karakter yang kontekstual, serta minimnya literasi digital dalam pemanfaatan sumber tafsir Al-Qur’an. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui sosialisasi, workshop, praktik, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Hasil menunjukkan lebih dari 70% peserta mampu mengoperasikan aplikasi administrasi dan keuangan, merancang pembelajaran karakter berbasis media digital, serta menggunakan aplikasi tafsir secara mandiri. Dengan demikian, PKM ini berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan digital, memperkuat profesionalisme guru, serta mendukung terwujudnya pembelajaran PAI yang modern, akuntabel, dan kontekstual di sekolah.

Abstract

This study investigates the meaning of repentance as articulated by Imam Ghazali and its semantic representation in the Qur'an. By analyzing Imam Ghazali's interpretation of "taubat," the research delves into the spiritual, ethical, and psych thological dimensions of repentance in Islamic teachings. The study uses analysis descriptive as the method and it’s further conducts a semantic analysis of relevant Qur'anic verses to elucidate the concept's theological implications, including divine mercy, forgiveness, and justice. This comprehensive examination aims to bridge classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary semantic analysis, offering a nuanced understanding of repentance's role and significance in Islam. The findings contribute to Islamic studies, religious studies, and theological scholarship, providing valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of repentance or "taubat" and its contemporary relevance.
