Abstract

Globalization able to make the language of region extinct, it is because nowadays every people expecially youth generation more comfortable using English language than local language. Youth generation think local language is considered lacking. Language shift also supported by social media. That is way government and every people need cooperation in preserving the language of the region. Like using local language as a subject in every school, using local language on the public street billboard or any airport in the major cities. Or also duplicating the flogger or youtuber to preserve the language of the region, because today is social media time. Ths research focuses on the area of Bali, where Bali is a tourist area. It is very strong for the preservation of the language region.

Abstract

 Penguasaan bahasa Inggris kontekstual merupakan kebutuhan penting dalam mempersiapkan peserta didik menghadapi persaingan global, terutama dalam aspek listening, speaking, dan reading. Namun, masih banyak peserta didik yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menguasai keterampilan tersebut. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris peserta didik melalui pendekatan terpadu berbasis TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication). Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 7 Februari 2025 dan diikuti oleh 77 peserta dari berbagai tingkat kemampuan. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup penyampaian materi interaktif, latihan berbasis audio, simulasi TOEIC, dan evaluasi hasil. Tahapan kegiatan terdiri atas presentasi materi, latihan mendengarkan, praktik berbicara, membaca teks panjang, serta simulasi ujian TOEIC. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 88% peserta menyatakan materi mudah dipahami dan relevan, serta 75% merasa lebih percaya diri dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Temuan ini mendukung efektivitas pendekatan berbasis kebutuhan dunia kerja dan metode interaktif. Kesimpulannya, pendekatan terpadu berbasis TOEIC terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan bahasa Inggris peserta dan relevan untuk mempersiapkan peserta didik memasuki dunia kerja global. Kata Kunci : Penguasaan bahasa Inggris; TOEIC; keterampilan listening; pembelajaran kontekstual; pemberdayaan peserta didik.

Abstract

Using descriptive qualitative research, this study investigates the perlocutionary acts found in the film script of the 2017 film Kingsman: The Golden Circle by  Matthew Vaughn. The objectives of this study are to explain the types and the context of the perlocutionary acts found in the dialogues of the film script. Pragmatic approach is applied and a total sum of 10 data in form of dialogues were found, which were categorised based on Searle™s 1969 Speech Act theory. Furthermore, the context of situation of all the data were explained with the basis of pragmatic approach supported by Yule™s theory 1996. Miles & Huberman™s theory (1994) is assigned in analyzing the data. Thus, this study concluded that the five types of Perlocutionary Acts appear in the film script, with Directives acts to appear most often, followed by Assertives, and finally Commissives, Expressives and Declaratives. However, the reader must have a deep understanding in context of situation to understand the meaning of the text. This study contributes to give a new insight in perlocutionary acts based on context of situation. Authors suggest to futher researcher to analyze perlocutionary act in gender context and to apply context of situation in avoiding misinterpretation and misact.

Abstract

The purposes of this study to find out the kinds of social conflicts exist Hidden Figures Novel and to describe how the impact of the social  conflicts on characters such as Dorothy Voughan, Marry Jackson, Katherine Jhonson, Christina Darden and the other black people character in this novel. The data in this research  part of the novel that is related to the social conflict. The source of data comes from the novel Hidden Figures. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative research. By using the Soerjono Soekanto’s theories (2017). He stated there are five kinds of social conflict. The five social conflict are conflict of an International Nature, Political conflicts, conflicts between social classes, Racial conflicts, and Personal conflict. Then there are five impacts of social conflict in his theory.
