Abstract

This article aims to explore effective communication strategies implemented by social workers in urban environments through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. The research employs a qualitative method alongside the SLR approach. Primary sources for this study are articles specifically concerning the theme, while secondary sources include supporting articles, books, and reports. The data collection technique used in this research is document analysis and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that communication technology plays a vital role in enhancing interactions between social workers and their clients. The success of communication also heavily relies on cultural sensitivity and the social workers' ability to tailor their messages to the diverse needs and contexts of their clients. Challenges such as building trust and adapting to rapid changes, especially under pandemic conditions, are the primary focus of the discussion. The discussion in this article reveals that effective communication in urban social work involves more than the mere transfer of information; it also encompasses relationship building, client empowerment, and strategy adaptation in response to crises. Successful strategies are those that combine the use of technology with a humanity-based approach to support client autonomy and activate their potential for positive social change.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of digital literacy training in preventing cyberbullying and fostering virtual harmonization among students of Jabal Noor Integrated Islamic Junior High School. Using a quantitative pretest–posttest one-group design, the research involved 33 students from grades VII–IX who participated in a digital literacy training program. Data were collected through validated questionnaires measuring awareness of cyberbullying prevention and skills in maintaining ethical communication in virtual spaces. The results showed a significant increase in the average score from 64.33 (pretest) to 73.82 (posttest), with a mean difference of 9.49 points. A paired sample t-test yielded t = 20.06, p < 0.001, indicating a highly significant effect. The findings demonstrate that digital literacy training not only enhances students’ understanding of online ethics but also reduces the tendency to engage in cyberbullying while promoting inclusive and harmonious digital interactions

Abstract

This study examines the role of organizational communication in shaping the identity of female cadres within Kohati HMI Medan Branch, grounded in the value of #KohatiBerprinsip. Utilizing interviews with cadres at both branch and commissariat levels, the findings show that organizational communication operates through three main channels: structural communication, cultural communication, and digital communication. These interconnected channels form an ecosystem that facilitates the internalization of Islamic, intellectual, and women-oriented values. The value of #KohatiBerprinsip functions not merely as a slogan but as an identity framework embedded through formal training curricula, leadership communication practices, and narrative-based interactions in informal forums. The study also highlights several challenges, including uneven information flow, variations in value interpretation, and digital information fatigue. Overall, organizational communication in Kohati plays a strategic role in strengthening the identity of female cadres as principled, empowered Muslim women prepared to engage in public spaces. However, stronger internal communication design and more consistent value-based narratives are required to optimize identity formation processes.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of character assassination through cyberbullying on Twitter as an increasingly prominent social phenomenon in the digital era. As social media becomes a central space for public communication, individual reputations can be rapidly constructed or damaged. Character assassination on social media constitutes a form of digital violence that poses serious risks to victims’ psychological well-being and social standing. Employing a qualitative approach, this research analyzes patterns of attacks, perpetrators’ motivations, and victims’ experiences through content analysis of tweets and in-depth interviews with individuals affected by cyberbullying. The findings indicate that cyberbullying on platform X is reinforced by key features of a network society, including anonymity, rapid information circulation, and global visibility. These factors intensify psychological harm such as stress and depression, while also undermining victims’ social reputation and digital identity. Additionally, platform algorithms may unintentionally amplify negative content by prioritizing highly engaging posts. Addressing this issue requires collaborative efforts among social media platforms, government institutions, and communities through improved moderation systems, effective reporting mechanisms, and victim support services.

Abstract

Public trust in political institutions has become a critical issue in emerging democracies, particularly in Southeast Asia. This study examines how organizational communication contributes to building public trust in political institutions through a comparative literature review of Indonesia and Malaysia. Using a systematic comparative review design, this research synthesizes 38 peer-reviewed studies published between 2014 and 2025. The analysis identifies thematic patterns related to communication structure, message consistency, digital engagement, and trust formation mechanisms. Findings indicate that Indonesia demonstrates relatively strong transparency and participatory openness but faces challenges in inter-agency coordination and message alignment. Conversely, Malaysia exhibits centralized communication coherence yet encounters limitations in dialogical engagement and public responsiveness. The study proposes an Alignment–Responsiveness Framework, suggesting that sustainable public trust emerges from the interaction between internal communication coherence and external responsiveness. This framework contributes to political organizational communication scholarship and offers strategic implications for designing trust-oriented public communication strategies in developing democracies

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of internal organizational communication and conflict management at Pesantren Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah in Medan. Using a qualitative approach, the research explores how communication patterns among teaching staff function in maintaining coordination and resolving workplace conflicts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three informants representing different organizational levels: the Vice Director, a senior teacher, and a newly appointed teacher. The findings reveal that internal communication in the pesantren is characterized by structured vertical communication reinforced by intensive horizontal interactions among teachers. Conflicts that arise are generally triggered by differences in perception, miscommunication, and coordination issues rather than deep personal disputes. The study also demonstrates that Islamic values such as musyawarah, tabayyun, ukhuwah, tasamuh, and amanah play a significant role as normative frameworks guiding communication and conflict resolution. These values shape a distinctive conflict management model that combines dialogue, mediation, and leadership authority to maintain organizational harmony and institutional stability.
