Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance in improving student learning motivation at SMP Negeri 24 Surabaya. The background of this study is based on the low learning motivation of some eighth-grade students identified through initial questionnaires and teacher observations. This low motivation has an impact on a lack of enthusiasm for learning, decreased concentration, and suboptimal learning outcomes. Therefore, an intervention is needed in the form of group guidance services that are believed to facilitate students to share experiences, obtain social support, and foster a positive attitude towards learning activities. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach implemented in two cycles. The research subjects were eighth-grade students who have low levels of learning motivation. Data collection was carried out through learning motivation questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively by comparing motivation scores before and after treatment and observing changes in student attitudes in learning activities. The results showed a significant increase in learning motivation questionnaire scores after participating in group guidance, accompanied by changes in behavior that are more active and enthusiastic in participating in learning. The contribution of this research confirms that group guidance is an effective and applicable service to help increase students' learning motivation in secondary schools.

Abstract

Bancar District is one of the strategic areas in the Tuban Regency Spatial Plan i.e. as the Minapolitan strategic area. Since 2019, in the Bancar District area, precisely in Boncong Village, there has been a silica sand washing area which its waste directly dumped into the river and resulted in many negative impacts. This study aims to calculating the environmental cost due to sand washing activity in Boncong area. The environmental cost in this study was calculated through cost based approach. The results of the study show that the losses incurred due to silica sand washing activity in Boncong reach IDR 508,600,000.00 per year, i.e. IDR 496,000,000.00 per year for maintenance of fisher’s ship and additional costs for aquaculture water treatment are IDR 12,600,000.00 per year. Economic approach, and also an ecological approach, has potentially large implications for policy-making of mitigation the impact of sand washing activity.

Abstract

Tidal floods are inundations of water on the coastal plain due to high tide. Tidal floods are caused by tidal phenomena and excessive sea water intrusion due to rain. The level of resilience of coastal communities needs to be studied in order to minimize the impact and obtain recommendations for increasing the resilience of coastal communities to the threat of disasters. The aim of this research is to determine the level of community resilience to tidal floods in Karangagung Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency, East Java. The level of community resilience to tidal floods was analyzed using the Coastal Community Resilience (CCR) method. The results of the level of community resilience in facing tidal floods in Karangagung Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency have a value of 3.96 in the high category.

Abstract

HOTS merupakan proses berpikir pada level kognitif yang meliputi kemampuan pemecahan masalah, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, berpikir kritis, kemampuan berargumen, dan kemampuan mengambil keputusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal IPA tipe HOTS. Mahasiswa dalam menghadapi berbagai perkembangan di era abad 21 tentunya dibutuhkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau HOTS. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif, yang bersifat deskriptif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survey selain itu jenis penelitian ini bersifat ex-post facto. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes. Subjek penelitian yaitu mahasiswa UAD yang sedang menempuh matakuliah IPA. Populasi dari penelitian yaitu mahasiswa PGSD UAD yang sedang menempuh matakuliah IPA. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu mahasiswa semester 1 dan mahasiswa semester 5, Jumlah sampel yang digunakan yaitu 154. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa semester 1 mencapai 38,67% dan masuk pada kategori sedang. Mahasiswa semester 1 dalam mengerjakan soal kemampuan analisis mencapai 37,33% masuk pada kategori rendah dan persentase dalam pengerjaan soal tipe evaluasi masuk dalam kategori sedang. Secara umum mahasiswa semester 5 kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa masuk dalam kategori sedang, dengan persentase 38,67%. Mahasiswa semester 5 dala mengerjakan tipe soal analisis mencapai 41,77% masuk dalam kategori tinggi, dan tipe soal evaluasi sebesar 32,91% masuk dalam kateori sedang. Demikian dapat diketahui bahwa mahasiswa PGSD dalam menyelesaikan soal IPA tipe HOTS perlu ditingkatkan lagi khususnya pada tingkat evaluasi (C5).

Abstract

This study utilizes Twinkl.com (Twinkl Educational Publishing), an educational platform, to empower teachers and students by providing materials and resources, especially English for your learners (EYL). The methodology follows a service-learning (SL) approach, involving needs assessment, community engagement, curriculum development, teacher training, interactive student sessions, ongoing support, and monitoring. Research findings indicate initial unfamiliarity among teachers with Twinkl.com, but all find it convenient. Successes include increased teacher confidence and student enthusiasm, while challenges involve language English teachers and students' limitations with materials available in English. Overall, these findings show the positive impact of Twinkl.com on early childhood education, promising an enriched and dynamic English learning experience for young learners in preschool and kindergarten.
