Abstract

The phenomenon of riots between pencak silat schools in various regions, particularly in East Java, reflects a moral crisis among the younger generation. The rise in violence, brawls, bullying, and sexual harassment indicates that the moral values and social norms taught in educational institutions are beginning to be neglected. This situation necessitates strategic efforts to instill strong and moderate character in the younger generation through activities based on cultural and spiritual values, such as those conducted at the Segoro Geni Gempol Pasuruan Padepokan. This study aims to describe the implementation of Pagar Nusa activities and the process of developing moderate character education values within the padepokan. The study used a descriptive qualitative method from February to July 2024, with Pagar Nusa trainers and students as subjects, as well as the Head of the Sub-District and the coordinator of instructors as key informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions through triangulation of sources and methods. The research results show that the Pagar Nusa program begins with a tawassul recitation, prayer, warm-up, core exercises, and a closing ceremony. Moderate character values developed include tolerance, national commitment, non-violence, and respect for local culture. The character-building process involves advice, habituation, role modeling, and educational punishment.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests on social acceptance of racial justice principles in the United States. The protests became one of the largest social movements in modern American history, but normative analysis of their long-term influence on social structures and legal norms is limited. This study uses a normative qualitative method with a literature study approach, legal document analysis, and evaluation of secondary data from social media. The results of the study show that BLM protests have succeeded in raising public awareness of issues of racism, systemic discrimination, and the importance of social justice values. However, the level of social acceptance of anti-racism principles is still fragmented and influenced by people's social, economic, and political backgrounds. These findings underscore the importance of establishing more inclusive legal norms based on the value of racial equality as the foundation for sustainable social change in the United States.

Abstract

Mondoluku Village is a village in Wringinanom District, Gresik Regency, East Java Province. The majority of the people work as turmeric farmers as their daily activities. Turmeric is not a staple food, so every time panin arrives, the panin produce is immediately sold for daily needs. There is no creation yet to produce and market it in powder form, for example, to gain more profit. They live in harmony even with different religions. In mondoluku, Hinduism is a religion followed by their ancestors and forefathers. This religion has existed since the time of the Majapahit kingdom before Islam entered. Since the collapse of Majapahit and the spread of Islam began to develop, things began to turn around. Islam in Mondoluku became the majority religion, even Hinduism was almost destroyed and no longer exists. Until 2012, at first the temple only looked like a gate, now it is starting to grow little by little. In 2022, the temple building looks magnificent, big, with a large yard. This shows the existence of Hindu adherents to bring back past history.
