Abstract

The 2024 election in Indonesia faces significant challenges related to political ambitions and legal defeats, which have impacted the integrity and implementation of the election process. Political ambitions from candidates and political parties often lead to violations of election rules, including the spread of misleading information and manipulation of voting results. Legal defeats, such as violations of campaign rules and the inability of law enforcement to handle these cases, undermine public trust in the democratic system and law enforcement institutions. This article examines the impact of these legal defeats and provides recommendations for reforms in election regulations, increased law enforcement, transparency, and political education. Comprehensive reform efforts are needed to ensure fair elections and increase public trust in the democratic process in the future

Abstract

Protection of press freedom in countries experiencing armed conflict is a critical issue to ensure transparent and accurate access to information during a crisis. Although international legal instruments exist, such as the Geneva Conventions and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, their implementation often faces challenges, including physical violence against journalists, restrictions on access to information, and intimidation. This study evaluates the effectiveness of international legal protections and identifies key challenges faced by journalists in the field. In addition, the study makes recommendations for strengthening international law enforcement, support for international organizations, national legal reform, and journalist training. These efforts are expected to improve the protection of press freedom and ensure that critical information remains accessible during times of conflict

Abstract

The KPPU's decision in the case of alleged delay in the acquisition of shares of PT Lestari Gemilang Intisawit in PT Nabati Agro Subur (number: 05/KPPU-M/2022) emphasizes the importance of notifying shareholders regarding the takeover of shares in accordance with Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning Monopoly Practices and Business Competition Against the Law. Good. After reviewing the decision, it was decided that PT Gemilang Lestari Intisawit had an obligation to notify the KPPU regarding the takeover as a subsidiary. However, even though this transaction increases the asset value and sales value of the parent company, there is a disparity between activities that are detrimental to other business actors and the fine imposed is only 1 billion rupiah. This shows the need for further evaluation of this decision to ensure fairness in law enforcement regarding fair business competition and protecting market interests

Abstract

This study analyzes the interests of legal protection for victims of criminal acts of defamation committed by debt collectors. Indonesian laws and regulations, such as the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), provide a legal basis for protecting victims, but significant challenges remain in law enforcement. Difficulties in providing evidence, lengthy legal processes, and a lack of understanding of legal rights reduce the effectiveness of existing protections. Inconsistent law enforcement is also a major obstacle. This study recommends simplifying the legal process, increasing access to legal aid, increasing legal awareness, and strengthening law enforcement to improve legal protection for victims
