Abstract

Padang Beach Tourism Area is one of the vital areas in the Adaptation of New Habits period because it has the potential to cause many people to gather in the same place. Based on preliminary studies, there were many workers who do not wear masks and keep their distance. Efforts were needed to increase worker compliance with health protocols and the Adaptation of New Habits in preventing Covid-19. The aim of this activity was to increase the knowledge of workers in the Padang Coast tourist area regarding the implementation of Adaptation to New Habits after the Covid-19 pandemic. The community service method used was health education. The participants in the counseling were 2 employees of the Padang City Tourism Office as well as 19 cleaners and a SAR team who worked at Padang Beach. The activity phase begins with preparation, implementation of counseling and evaluation. The counseling held at the Cimpago Beach parking lot, Padang City. Result of the activity, an increase in participants' knowledge about new habits after the Covid-19 pandemic was obtained based on an increase in pre-test and post-test scores. Apart from that, there was a commitment from the Padang City Tourism Office to ensure that officers working at Padang Beach were able to be examples in implementing new habits at tourist locations. To ensure this, posters and leaflets were given on how to wash hands, how to wear masks, and how to behave in a healthy and clean manner outside and inside the house. It can be concluded that outreach activities are able to increase participants' knowledge about new habits after the Covid-19 pandemic. It is hoped that outreach participants can convey the information they have obtained to business actors and visitors in the Padang Beach tourist area.

Abstract

Tourist destinations are one of the vulnerable places for the spread of Covid-19, as they allow interactions with visitors and food business operators around the tourism locations. Based on data from 2021, it was found that the public's compliance with health protocols in tourist areas in Kota Padang is still low, which poses a risk of increasing Covid-19 cases. Implementing health protocols by following the 5M Movement (maintaining distance, wearing masks, handwashing, avoiding crowds, and reducing travel) at tourist spots such as Pantai Padang is a necessary step for both visitors and business operators in the vicinity of tourist areas to protect themselves and minimize the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this activity is to educate tourism stakeholders about the importance of implementing health protocols at tourist locations. The implementation method to improve discipline and compliance in the application of health protocols at tourist sites includes conducting location surveys and coordination with partners, educating visitors and tourism stakeholders on health protocol implementation, and conducting evaluations. This activity also provides health promotion materials and distributes masks to visitors and provides handwashing facilities for food business operators. The results of the activity include an increase in participants' knowledge of health protocol implementation in tourist areas, from 13.28 to 13.89, with an average increase of 2.11 points. It is hoped that the Tourism Department will continue to monitor and enhance awareness among tourism stakeholders about the importance of implementing health protocols at tourist destinations.

Abstract

The transition of children to adulthood through adolescence tends to be more daring to take risks so that it has an impact on reproductive health problems such as promiscuity leading to premarital sex, abortion, and the emergence of HIV-AIDS. So far, the government has carried out prevention through the Youth Care Health Service (PKPR) and has been implemented throughout Indonesia, including the city of Padang. However, the scope of services provided is still low. This study was conducted to examine the knowledge of high school students in the use of PKPR in Padang City in 2020. It was carried out through a cross-sectional approach at Padang City High School in March – October 2020. 145 students were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there was a significant average difference between knowledge on the use of PKPR. For the use of PKPR to be increased and maximized, and educational promotion program is needed about the use of PKPR for adolescents by stakeholders and the government considering that knowledge and utilization of PKPR by adolescents is still low.

Abstract

The main risk factor for cervical cancer is Human Pappiloma Virus (HPV) infection. One of the primary prevention efforts that can be done is HPV vaccination, which has been proven effective in reducing the risk of women being exposed to HPV infection. In Indonesia, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer. West Sumatra Province has the highest prevalence of cervical cancer, which is ranked second in Indonesia at 2.47 per 1000 population. The government has made it mandatory to provide free HPV vaccination for school children to prevent cervical cancer in the future, but the vaccination coverage is still low due to various anti-vaccine stigmas, many refusals from parents for vaccines. The existence of this rejection and stigma is a lack of information to the public about the effectiveness of the HPV vaccine. Therefore, it is necessary to socialize and educate the target of HPV vaccination to elementary school children in grades 5 and 6. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of school students about cervical cancer and its prevention with health education. The activity was held at SDN 44 Kalumbuk, Padang. The method in service begins with situation analysis, preparation and planning of activities, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the activity were an increase in the average knowledge of participants from 62.5 to 76.3 with an average increase of 13.8 points. This educational activity can increase participants' knowledge about cancer.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors that influence and barriers to the utilization of JKN for informal sector workers in West Sumatra Province. Methods: The study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. The data used are secondary data from the 2022 Susenas. The population of this study consisted of informal workers aged 15-64 years, comprising approximately 10,909 people. The sample consisted of informal workers with health complaints and a history of outpatient care, specifically 4,606 individuals. This study uses JKN utilization as the dependent variable. Meanwhile, there are several independent variables: JKN ownership, age, gender, economic status, region of residence, education, and employment. Data were analyzed using the STATA application in univariate, bivariate analyses with the Chi-Squared test, and multivariate analyses with binary logistic regression. Results: The results showed that most respondents (59.12%) did not use JKN due to various barriers, including a preference for self-medication (76%), lack of knowledge on how to use JKN (10%), and difficulties with procedures (5%). The productive age group was significantly more likely to use JKN (OR 4.653; 95% CI 1.837 - 11.784). The poor are more likely to use JKN than those in the lower-middle income groups (OR 6.955; 95% CI 1.444-33.497). Conclusion: The wealth status and age had a significant influence on the use of JKN. Expand access to affordable health services for low-income individuals and older adults. Barriers to using JKN are practical and require policy interventions. Insurance subsidies, development of mobile-based services, and strategies for the dissemination of information and benefits of JKN.

Abstract

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and cancer are the leading causes of death in Indonesia. Preventive efforts through health screening remain low, especially among adolescents who are increasingly exposed to unhealthy lifestyles. This community service activity aimed to optimize self-screening practices among high school students through health education on NCDs and a simulation of the Mobile JKN application. The program was conducted at SMAN 8 Padang from September 6 to 20, 2024, involving 40 tenth-grade students. The intervention included planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. Activities consisted of health education sessions, distribution of educational materials (leaflets and screening guidebooks), and a simulation of digital self-screening. Evaluation was carried out through oral surveys of five randomly selected students. All students demonstrated an understanding of the material and were able to perform the screening simulation correctly. They also expressed commitment to becoming health ambassadors in their families and communities. This initiative aligns with the Health Belief Model and school-based health promotion approaches, while also supporting Indonesia's national digital health transformation through the SATU SEHAT policy. The activity proved effective in increasing students’ awareness of early detection and prevention of NCDs. It is recommended that this program be replicated in other schools and further developed by involving teachers and providing digital learning media for sustainable impact.

Abstract

This program aims to increase the elderly's knowledge about TB prevention and control through the “Market TB” (Let's Recognize and Treat TB) outreach activity. The activity was carried out at the Belimbing Community Health Centre’s elderly health post. The method used was a lecture using posters, accompanied by pre-tests and post-tests to measure the increase in knowledge. Interactive discussions were held to reinforce participants' understanding. Educational posters were also displayed in strategic locations to expand the reach of information. The results showed an increase in the average post-test score (8.11) from the pre-test score (5.05). The outreach activities were carried out successfully, as evidenced by the active participation of the target audience and a 3.06-point increase in knowledge scores after the intervention. Posters and participatory outreach methods proved effective in conveying health information to the elderly. The Belimbing Community Health Centre is expected to continue providing regular education on tuberculosis to the elderly using visual approaches and simple language that is easy to understand. In addition, youth posts can be utilized as an educational medium by providing health information that is easily accessible to the community. Posyandu cadres also need to be actively involved as an extension of health workers in disseminating community-based health information, so that education can reach a wider audience and be sustainable.
