Abstract

This research aims to examine the escalation of communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal) of Biology students through the implementation of a combination of the gallery walk and flipped classroom collaborative learning method in Grade XI Science Program 3 of SMAN 13 Makassar for the academic year 2022/2023. This study adopts collaborative classroom action research and is conducted over two research cycles. The research design follows a gradual lesson study approach from one cycle to the next. The stages within one cycle include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques involve observation sheets and documentation to observe students' communication skills during the learning process. Three observers were involved in the study. The collected data is analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The average cumulative communication skills at the beginning of the cycle were 64.83%, which increased to 77.21% by the end of the first cycle and further improved to 89.96% by the end of the second cycle. The overall improvement from the intervention until the end of the second cycle amounted to 25.13%. The findings of this research indicate that the implementation of a combination of the gallery walk and flipped classroom collaborative learning method effectively enhances the communication skills of students in Grade XI Science Program 3 of SMAN 13 Makassar for the academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat keterampilan kolaborasi siswa dalam belajar Biologi terkhusus pada materi Virus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan kolaborasi siswa kelas X4 di sekolah SMAN 13 Makassar melalui penerapan model PjBL. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Kolaboratif yang berlangsung selama dua siklus penelitian. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 36 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan ialah angket keterampilan kolaborasi pada setiap tahapan siklus, analisis data yang digunakan ialah analisis deskriptif kuantitatif, pre-test dan post-test siswa untuk mengetahui eskalasi output belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Model PjBL mampu meningkatan keterampilan kolaborasi dan hasil belajar siswa di kelas X4. Hal ini ditunjukkan pada tahap pra-siklus yang memperoleh persentase 59% pada Aspek Komitmen, 48% pada Aspek Menghormati Orang Lain, 51% Aspek Musyawarah, 55% Aspek Partisipasi. Tahap Siklus I terjadi peningkatan pada empat aspek yaitu 83%, 73%, 84%, dan 80%. Pada Siklus II terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan pada keempat Aspek yaitu 95%, 83%, 96%, dan 93%. Adapun eskalasi hasil belajar siswa kelas X4 yaitu pada persentase ketuntasan Siklus I sebesar 72,2% dan Siklus II terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan sebesar 94,4% pada ketuntasan belajar siswa kelas X4.
