Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the essential skills that students must have in the 21st century. However, students' critical thinking skills in physics learning are still not optimally empowered. One of the efforts to improve it is through the use of digital teaching materials in the form of E-Books based on local Aceh wisdom that connect physics concepts with phenomena in the environment around students. This study aims to analyze the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of E-Books based on Acehnese local wisdom in improving students' critical thinking skills. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The subjects of the study were grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe which consisted of a control class of 25 students and an experimental class of 25 students. Data was obtained through validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and critical thinking ability tests. The results showed that the E-Book obtained a media validation score of 84% and material validation of 85.8%, both of which are categorized as very valid. The teacher's response reached 83%, while the students' response to the small-scale and large-scale trials was 83% and 85% respectively with the category of very practical. The results of the N-Gain test showed a value of 0.39 in the control class and 0.47 in the experimental class with a medium category. Thus, the E-Book based on Acehnese local wisdom is declared valid, practical, and effective to support the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in physics learning.
