Abstract

This article addresses the paradigmatic tension between capitalism and socialism in the quest for economic and social justice, with a specific focus on critiquing financial capitalism from an Islamic perspective. Using a literature review methodology, this study explores the theoretical foundations of these paradigms and highlights Islam’s distinct approach. The findings reveal that Islam critiques the financial theories underpinning capitalism, particularly its emphasis on the unrestricted pursuit of profit, accumulation of capital, and reliance on mechanisms like interest (riba) and speculative activities (gharar) that exacerbate economic inequality and social injustice. Islam does not align with the profit-driven individualism of capitalism or the state-centric control of socialism. Instead, it presents a transformative paradigm rooted in Islamic theology, advocating principles such as zakāt to ensure equitable wealth distribution, the prohibition of riba to prevent exploitative financial practices, and the prioritization of shared welfare over material accumulation. This paradigm, referred to as Transformative Islam, critiques the structural inequities of financial capitalism while emphasizing the moral imperative for justice, communal well-being, and sustainable economic systems. By integrating theological principles with practical methodologies, Transformative Islam offers a comprehensive and just alternative to exploitative financial systems.

Abstract

This systematic literature review critically synthesizes the expanding body of scholarship on critical leadership, focusing on power dynamics, ideological critique, social justice, and transformative practices within organizational and community contexts. Moving beyond traditional leadership paradigms that emphasize individual traits and hierarchical effectiveness, critical leadership theory interrogates leadership as a contested socio-political process embedded in structures of power and domination. This review maps key theoretical frameworks, methodological trends, and empirical applications spanning indigenous governance, educational reform, grassroots activism, and corporate sustainability. The analysis reveals enduring tensions between transformative aspirations and institutional constraints, highlighting the complex interplay of identity, discourse, and collective agency. Notably, the review identifies significant gaps in geographic representation, methodological pluralism, and thematic coverage, particularly in crisis leadership, media discourse, and intersectional minority experiences. Emerging opportunities call for integrative, context-sensitive, and interdisciplinary approaches that enhance critical leadership’s capacity to address systemic inequities and foster emancipatory social change. By offering a comprehensive synthesis of conceptual, empirical, and methodological insights, this review advances theoretical clarity and practical relevance, positioning critical leadership as a vital framework for ethical and socially responsive leadership in an increasingly complex global landscape.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of human resource management and transformational leadership on innovation behavior in MSMEs in West Sumatra with organizational culture as a mediating variable. The research was conducted by taking a sample of 400 respondents who are MSMEs in West Sumatra. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire. The data obtained was processed with the SEM PLS (Structure Equation Modeling Partial Least Square) analysis technique using the SmartPLS 3.0 program. The results of this study explain that there is a positive and significant effect of HR Management variables on innovative behavior, there is a positive and significant effect of transformational leadership variables on innovative behavior, there is a positive and significant effect of HR Management variables on organizational culture, there is a positive and significant effect of transformational leadership variables on organizational culture, there is a positive and significant effect of organizational culture variables on innovative behavior, there is a positive and significant effect of HR Management on innovative behavior through organizational culture and there is a positive and significant effect of transformational leadership on innovative behavior through organizational culture.

Abstract

Digital leadership is increasingly recognized as a strategic capability essential for guiding organizations through rapid technological transformation. It is particularly associated with enhanced agility, performance, and the integration of emerging technologies across sectors such as SMEs, manufacturing, education, and public administration. Despite growing interest, existing literature remains fragmented and lacks a coherent synthesis that reflects the multidimensional role of digital leadership across varying organizational and contextual settings. Moreover, limited attention has been given to the mechanisms through which digital leadership drives innovation under diverse ecological, geographic, and structural conditions. To address this gap, we conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 guidelines and the SPAR-4-SLR framework, analyzing 43 peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed articles published between 2015 and 2025. Through thematic synthesis, bibliometric mapping, and theoretical classification, we identify key patterns, conceptual structures, and research trends. The findings highlight the dominance of Dynamic Capability Theory (DCT) and Resource-Based View (RBV), with survey-based SEM methodologies prevailing. Notable gaps include conceptual ambiguity, methodological uniformity, and limited longitudinal and cross-cultural insights. This review offers a future research agenda grounded in the Theory–Context–Method (TCM) framework, advocating for broader theoretical integration and contextual diversity to better understand digital leadership’s role in fostering sustainable innovation.
