Abstract

This study examines human resource (HR) planning in non-profit organisations, focusing on mission-driven approaches to address the sector’s unique challenges. Non-profits often operate under budget constraints, face high turnover, and depend heavily on volunteer labour, necessitating HR strategies that move beyond conventional models. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), we analysed 47 peer-reviewed studies published between 2014 and 2024, identified through the Scopus database. A PRISMA-based screening process guided the selection, ensuring transparency and replicability. The synthesis of the literature reveals five key themes: (1) integration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into HRM, (2) the role of social economy and innovation in public services, (3) welfare-focused leadership, (4) ethical engagement to foster commitment, and (5) volunteer performance management. Quantitative mapping also shows diverse geographic distributions and methodological approaches across the studies. The findings highlight the importance of aligning HRM strategies with organisational values to sustain workforce motivation and maximise social impact. The study contributes by offering a holistic HR planning framework tailored to non-profits, providing both theoretical insights and practical guidance for enhancing sustainability and advancing the sector’s mission.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of human capital, economic freedom, and capital formation on Islamic economic development in the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Using a quantitative approach with panel data from nine OIC countries over the period 2002–2023, the study employs a multi-method panel regression model, including Pooled OLS, Fixed Effect, Random Effect, PCSE, and System GMM. The Human Development Index (HDI) is used as a proxy for Islamic economic development, while the independent variables include dimensions of human capital (MYS and LE), economic freedom (LABF, MONF, TRAF, INVF, FINF), and capital formation (GCF). The analysis results show that variables such as Life expectancy, Gross capital formation, Monetary freedom, and Financial freedom consistently have a significant positive effect on HDI in most models, while variables such as Trade Freedom, Investment Freedom, and Mean Years of Schooling show inconsistent or insignificant effects. This study highlights the importance of synergy between human investment policies, macroeconomic stability, and the Islamic financial system in fostering sustainable and socially just economic growth in the Islamic world. The policy implications of these findings encourage strengthening the health sector, spiritually oriented education, and inclusive Islamic financial governance to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in OIC countries.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the relationship between Islamic financial regulation, Islamic financial literacy, and financial inclusion in the ASEAN region. Utilizing articles from three ASEAN countries—Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam—this study employs a Systematic Literature Review methodology. With the growing interest in Islamic finance in ASEAN, a deeper understanding of these three components has become crucial. The research collects and analyzes relevant articles, journals, and reports from 2016 to 2024, employing strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review results indicate that effective Islamic financial regulation contributes to an increase in Islamic financial literacy, which in turn positively impacts the level of financial inclusion in ASEAN countries. Additionally, the study identifies the challenges faced in the implementation of regulations and strategies to enhance financial literacy among the population. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and financial practitioners to formulate policies that support the growth of sharia-compliant inclusive finance in ASEAN. The research emphasizes the need for collaboration among stakeholders to maximize the potential of Islamic finance in enhancing the economic welfare of the community.
