Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen character management and leadership among students (santri) at Pondok Pesantren Wasilatul Abror. Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in shaping generations who are not only intellectually competent but also disciplined, ethical, and capable of leadership. However, the challenges of globalization demand more structured character and leadership development so that students can adapt to social changes while upholding Islamic values. The program was held on at the Wasilatul Abror Islamic Boarding School Hall, involving students from elementary to secondary levels. The methods applied included interactive lectures, sharing sessions, mentoring, and leadership games based on experiential learning. The results showed high enthusiasm among students, active participation in discussions, and improvement in discipline, responsibility, and teamwork skills. The activity effectively enhanced students’ awareness of self-management and integrity-based leadership. It is recommended that similar programs be conducted regularly to ensure the sustainability of character and leadership development within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

Academic self-efficacy is an important factor that influences students’ academic success, persistence, and professional competency development in higher education. However, previous studies have mainly focused on academic achievement and motivation, while limited studies have discussed its contribution to human resource development using the integration of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of academic self-efficacy in supporting academic achievement, student persistence, and human resource development among higher education students. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review by analyzing previous studies from books, journal articles, and academic publications. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify major themes and relationships among previous findings. The results showed that academic self-efficacy positively influences motivation, learning engagement, academic persistence, career readiness, adaptability, and employability skills. The novelty of this study lies in integrating SCT, SCCT, and Human Resource Development (HRD) perspectives to explain the broader role of academic self-efficacy in preparing adaptive and competitive human resources in higher education.

Abstract

Abstract

The transition from higher education to employment has become increasingly challenging due to rapid technological change, global competition, and evolving workforce demands. This study aims to explore the role of self-efficacy and coping strategies in enhancing career readiness among university students from a Human Resource Management (HRM) perspective. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review methodology. Relevant studies were collected from academic databases and analyzed thematically to identify patterns and relationships among self-efficacy, coping strategies, and career readiness. The findings reveal that self-efficacy is a key predictor of career readiness, influencing students’ confidence, career planning, decision-making, and employability perceptions. Adaptive coping strategies also contribute to resilience and psychological adaptability, enabling students to manage career-related stress and uncertainty more effectively. Furthermore, the literature indicates a strong relationship between self-efficacy and coping strategies, suggesting that both factors jointly support successful career transitions. From an HRM perspective, these psychological resources represent important components of human capital that enhance graduates’ employability and workforce readiness. The study concludes that strengthening self-efficacy and adaptive coping strategies can improve career readiness among university students. Therefore, universities should integrate psychological development into career preparation programs to better prepare graduates for dynamic labor market conditions.

Abstract

The issues of low self-confidence and insufficient learning motivation among junior high school students in rural contexts represent significant challenges for character development and educational achievement. This condition is particularly evident at SMP Tanwirul Qulub, Central Lombok, where the majority of students come from farming families with limited socio-economic backgrounds. In response, this community engagement program was designed to enhance students’ self-confidence, foster learning motivation, and improve social competencies through outbound activities grounded in experiential learning. The intervention was structured using Kolb’s Experiential Learning Model, which consists of four sequential stages: Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation. The program was implemented in three sessions, including ice breaking, core games (Seven Boom and Group Vampire), and reflective discussions. The participants comprised 18 students aged 12–15 years. The findings revealed noticeable improvements, as demonstrated by students’ greater involvement in discussions, increased willingness to express opinions, and enhanced awareness of the value of education. These outcomes suggest that outbound-based experiential learning can serve as a strategic and transformative approach for character formation and motivation enhancement in educational settings with limited resources.
