Abstract

AbstractThe study aims to determine the students’ problem-solving ability of class X in SMK Hidayatul Mubtadi'ien on straight motion material. The study used a survey method involving 23 students of class X. The students’ problem-solving ability was measured using a test instrument of 5 description questions. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the average percentage of students' problem-solving abilities in aspect A, namely the ability to process problems, was 21.52% (less category), the percentage in aspect B, namely the ability to describe problems, was 36.74% (less category), the percentage in aspect C, namely the ability to plan solutions by 29.35% (poor category). Then, the percentage in aspect D, namely the ability to implement solution plans, 25.87% (poor category), the percentage in aspect E, namely the ability to evaluate solutions, is 7.83% (very poor category). Thus, the overall percentage of students' problem-solving abilities is 24.26% (less category). In the independent t-test results obtained Asym.sig 2-Tailed of 0.377 (> 0.05), it was concluded that there had not been any significant difference in problemsolving ability between male and female students. The study is expected to be used as a reference in improving students' problem-solving abilities in straight motion material.Keywords: Gender, Problem-solving Ability, Straight Motion

Abstract

Abstrak This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes on vibration and wave material by applying the Make A Match model. The form of the study is a pre-experimental design with a group pre-test post-test. This study is conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya that involved 32 students in the VIII G class. Data collection instrument in the form of 10 multiple choice questions and 4 essay questions. The result shows that the increase of students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the Make A Match model, it is proven from the acquisition of the average score of each material indicator with an increment of 22.74%. Wilcoxon Test results obtained an Asymp.sig score of 0,000 <0.05, thus Ha is accepted, which means there are differences in students’ learning outcomes before and after the Make A Match model is applied. The application of the Make A Match model is effective for improving students’ learning outcomes related to the vibrations and waves with 1.47 value (relatively high). The Make A Match learning model is expected to be used as an alternative in efforts to improve student learning outcomes. Keyword : Application, Learning Outcomes, Make A Match, Vibration and Waves

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine whether student’s misconceptions remediation using the 7E learning cycle model effective to reduce the number of student’s who exprecience misconceptions on simple machines in Junior High School 9 Pontianak. The method that used in this study is experiment study method with type Pre-Experimental Design study with plan model One Group Pretest-Posttest Design study. The technology removal of the example that used in this study is intact group technique and it is obtained at VIII C class that consist of 39 students. The instrument of this study is diagnostic test that consist of 9 multiple choice questions. Based on the data analysis, mean percentage descent numbers of the student's misconceptions is about 79,16%. The result of the statistic test Mc Nemar with dk = 1 and α = 5% showed > this result of test Mc Nemar show that have happened conceptual change on the students significantly. Cost of the normalised gain 7E learning cycle model in remediate student’s misconceptions is 0,78 (high category). Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to identify comic-based learning media in an effort to increase students interest and learning outcomes in hydrostatic pressure material. This study uses the use of a technology-based application called Pixtoon that researchers use to develop the creation of science learning comilk on hydrostatic pressure material in class VIII A1 SMP Negeri 4 Selakau. In the learning process, researchers applied a cooperative learning model with nht (numbered head together) type. Based on the analysis of data, it concluded that the tests developed are worth using to improve the learning outcomes of learners, namely: 1) have a higher validity than the validity of the table, 2) The average results of the student questionnaire before using comic learning media is 1.84. And the average result after using comic learning media is 3.40, so it can be stated that the interest of learners in comic-based learning can increase the learning interest of learners.. 3) pretest value reached 21.18 while postest reached 72.94 so that the difference score was 51.76, 4) the result of the response of students to comic-based learning media is 3.09 with the category "very good", 5) the effectiveness of media feasibility value is 3.23 with high criteria. So that this comicbased learning media is worth using and effective to increase the interest and learning outcomes of learners.Keywords: learning media, hydrostatic pressure, comic

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of online learning perceptions on the ability of students to solve problems of elasticity and Hooke's law at Madrasah Aliyah Yasti Sekura. This study used the Ex Post Facto method which involved 21 students of class XI science. The test in this study used a closed perception questionnaire totaling 20 items, and the questions were in the form of description questions with each question consisting of five questions representing each indicator. Based on data analysis, it was found that the average percentage of students' perceptions of the difficult category was 33.3%, the medium category was 42.9% and the easy category was 23.8%. And based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the average ability of students to solve problems was in the low category 19.0%, the medium category 66.7% and the high category 14.3%. In addition, there are differences in the ability to solve problems of elasticity and Hooke's law after online learning in terms of differences in perception (difficult, medium and easy) the results of the analysis are 0.048 <0.05. Students who have easy perceptions of the online learning process tend to be able to solve problems, so there is an effect of better learning outcomes than students who have difficult perceptions of online learning. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research was to improve students’ performance in electrostatic to year-12 of SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak in the academic 2019/2020 through discovery learning that aided by using PhET simulation. The methods and forms of research those are experimental and quasi experimental nonequivalent control group. The sample was students XII IPA 3 as an experimental class and XII IPA 4 was the control class which drawn by using intact group random sampling technique. The instrument used 10 multiple choice questions, 4 essay questions, and 20 students attitude questionnaires. The result showed that students’ score in experimental class at pretest and posttest had average of 22.97 and 59.06, while in control class are 23.17 and 53.51. There was a significant difference between students’ learning outcome in experimental class and conventional class (t=2.16, P < 0.05), after learning activities; (3) The effectiveness discovery learning with PhET simulations is ES=0,51 (medium classified) of increased learning outcome compared with conventional learning; (4) Student attitudes towards discovery learning with PhET simulations was 78,50% (good category). Discovery learning with PhET simulations is expected to be used as an alternative to improve on students’ learning outcome especially in other physics lessons.Keywords: Discovery Learning, Electrostatic, Learning Outcome, PhET Simulations

Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted to improve the learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Putussibau on Archimedes law through the application of a pictorial riddle-assisted inquiry model. The form of this research was quasy experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design, which involved 24 students of class VIII C (control class) and 24 students of class VIII D (experimental class) of SMP Negeri 2 Putussibau. Learning outcome data obtained through 10 essay test questions and analyzed using independent samples test with a significance level of 5% preceded by analysis prerequisite tests, obtained sig values. (0.012 <0.05) these results indicated that there were differences in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Improved learning outcomes in the experimental class were analyzed using the N-Gain score and an increase of 0.47 (moderate category) was obtained. This research is expected to be an alternative for teachers to improve learning outcomes in science-physics learning, especially in conceptual material. Keywords: Archimedes Law, Learning Outcomes, Pictorial Riddle-Assisted   Inquiry Model

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to determine the students multi-representation ability in working on questions about Accelerated Linear Motion in State Senior High School 7 in Pontianak. This study untilized a survey method involving 130 10th grade students from the school. The research test was in the form of 10 questions regarding multi-representation as well as 10 test to measure learning outcomes. The average percentage of multi-representation abilities of students was included in the “medium” category by a rate of 62,22%. The capability of students multi-representation to compose mathematic representation with percentage 93,68% and the lowest capability of students multi-representation from sketch representation with percentage 23,16%. Furthermore, there were differences in multi-representation abilities based on gender which were confirmed from the Mann-whitney test result (P<0,05) with the result of analysis showing that female students are superior in all types of representation than male students. This investigation also found that there was correlation of multi-representation ability of students in working on the problem with students learning outcomes which was shown from the results of the Product Moment Correlation Test (Rcount 0,573>Rtable 0,213), so learning involving multi-representation demanded to improve learning outcomes in physics. Future studies are expected to be able to develop physics learning strategies to enhance multi-representation capabilities and student learning outcomes. Keywords: Gender, Learning Outcomes, Multi-representation Ability

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to improve student learning outcomes on elasticity and Hooke's law by applying the learning cycle learning 7E model. The design of this study was in the form of a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. This study involved students of class XI MIA 3 and class XI MIA 4 in SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak, who were selected using a random sampling method with an intact group. Data collection tools used in the form of a test form consisting of 5 questions with a reliability level of 0.56. Based on the results of the Mann Whitney U test obtained Zcount by -4.71 and Ztable by -1.96 (-1.96 > -4.71). Thus there are differences in student learning outcomes between the group taught with the applied model, and the group taught with the conventional learning model. The effectiveness of the applied learning model was calculated using the Cohen effect size formula with the result of 1.53 and a high category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the learning cycle 7E model can improve student learning outcomes on the material of elasticity and Hooke's law. Keywords: Elasticity & Hooke’s Law, Learning Cycle 7E model, Learning Outcomes.

Abstract

 AbstractThis study aims to improve students learning outcomes, through the application of the Direct Instruction model to the heat and displacement material. The design of this study was in the form of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design which involved 32 students at SMPN 1 Sungai Raya. Data collection includes tests of students learning outcomes in the form of pretest and posttest consisting of 5 multiple choice questions and 3 essay questions. The average achievement results were 30.62 and 79.68 posttest. Wilcoxon test results show that there are significant differences in students learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the Direct Instruction model in the teaching and learning process and the effect size of this research model is 4.60 with a high category, it can be concluded that the application of the Direct Instruction model can improve students learning outcomes students on the heat and displacement material. Suggestions, that the Direct Instruction learning model requires a longer time for certain materials, therefore it is recommended for future researchers that before applying the Direct Instruction learning model to other materials, first set the time so that the material to be delivered can be given according to the time limit available.Keywords: Direct Instruction, Heat and displacement, Learning outcomes.
