Abstract

Abstrak This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes on vibration and wave material by applying the Make A Match model. The form of the study is a pre-experimental design with a group pre-test post-test. This study is conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya that involved 32 students in the VIII G class. Data collection instrument in the form of 10 multiple choice questions and 4 essay questions. The result shows that the increase of students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the Make A Match model, it is proven from the acquisition of the average score of each material indicator with an increment of 22.74%. Wilcoxon Test results obtained an Asymp.sig score of 0,000 <0.05, thus Ha is accepted, which means there are differences in students’ learning outcomes before and after the Make A Match model is applied. The application of the Make A Match model is effective for improving students’ learning outcomes related to the vibrations and waves with 1.47 value (relatively high). The Make A Match learning model is expected to be used as an alternative in efforts to improve student learning outcomes. Keyword : Application, Learning Outcomes, Make A Match, Vibration and Waves

Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted to improve the learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Putussibau on Archimedes law through the application of a pictorial riddle-assisted inquiry model. The form of this research was quasy experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design, which involved 24 students of class VIII C (control class) and 24 students of class VIII D (experimental class) of SMP Negeri 2 Putussibau. Learning outcome data obtained through 10 essay test questions and analyzed using independent samples test with a significance level of 5% preceded by analysis prerequisite tests, obtained sig values. (0.012 <0.05) these results indicated that there were differences in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Improved learning outcomes in the experimental class were analyzed using the N-Gain score and an increase of 0.47 (moderate category) was obtained. This research is expected to be an alternative for teachers to improve learning outcomes in science-physics learning, especially in conceptual material. Keywords: Archimedes Law, Learning Outcomes, Pictorial Riddle-Assisted   Inquiry Model

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims is to be aware the remediation of student’s misconceptions by using Jerome Bruner’s learning  method on Archimedes principle at SMP Negeri 23 Pontianak. the pre-experimental design with one group pre-test-post-test design was used in this research. The sample of this research is students of class VIII F (n = 30 student) which are chosen by random sampling technique of an intact group. The instruments in this research were diagnostic tests consisting of 15 pre-test question and 15 multiple choice post-test questions with open reasons.  Based on data analysis, the  findings are : (1) The percentage reduction of students who misconceptions, after remediation  on indicator I  of  82%;  indicator II of  65%; and indicator III of  72%, with an average of  73%.  (2) There is a significant conceptual change with Mc Nemar statistic test (χ2calculate   for the whole indicator that is equal to 34,58; dk = 1 ; ∝ =0,05) after remediation. (3) The effect size of  1,75 (high category). Based on these results It was expected that Jerome Bruner’s learning  method can be used as an alternative remediation learning  activity to reduce misconceptions.  Keywords:   Misconception, Remediation, Jerome Bruner’s Learning Method, Archimedes  Principle
