Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to find a decrease in the number of mistakes of students of class VII Mts Almuhajirin Rasau Jaya in solving the temperature problem after remediated with video-assisted Direct Instruction model. Form of research in the form of pre-experimental design with One Group Pre-test-Post-test design. The sample consists of 15 students of class VII Mts Almuhajirin Rasau Jaya selected by intact group. Data collection tool in the form of essay tests consists of 5 Pre-test and 5 Post-test questions parallel problems. The validity score is 4 (= high) and the reliability of Pre-test is 0.699 (= high), and Post-test is 0.899 (= very high). Based on the data analysis for all types of errors there was a decrease of 58% with significance decrease based on the Chi Square test in the completion stage of writing the known χ2count (51,29)> χ2table (23,68); in the completion stage of writing the question asked χ2count (40,44)> χ2table (23,68); in the completion stage of writes the formula χ2count (57,27)> χ2table (23,68); and the completion stage of calculating χ2count (82,84)> χ2table (23,68); resulting in a decrease in the number of mistakes of students of class VII Mts Almuhajirin Rasau Jaya in solving the problem of temperature after remediated with video-assisted direct instruction model. Keywords:  Remediation, Mistakes, Direct Instruction, Video, Temperature

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to assess the effectiveness of learning difficulties using the experiential learning model to remediate the number of students that have misconception and errors in completing problems on work at SMAN 3 Pontianak. The method used in this research was a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test design. Samples of study were intact group and selected based on physics teacher’s recommendation. The research instruments included 10 questions of diagnostic test and 6 questions of essay test. The percentage number of students with misconceptions of each indicator and student was reduced to 56.19% and 35.87%. Based on the results of the McNemar test, overall students experienced significant conceptual changes with a value of χ2 count (84.27)> χ2 table (3.84), df = 1 and α = 5%. The percentage decreased by 59,78% in the number of errors in completing problems for each student. Based on the results of the Normality test and Wilcoxon test, overall students experienced differences or decreased errors in completing problems with Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 so that Ho was rejected. The effectiveness for both experiental learning model to remediate the number of student’s misconception on work through DQM of 56.20% and the effectiveness to reduce the errors of students in completing problems through a decrease proportion was 0.53 which are included to medium category. Therefore, this research is suggested to be use as an alternative learning activity to reduce the number of students that have learning difficulties on work.Keyword: Experiential Learning, Learning Difficulties, Misconception, Remediation, Work.

Abstract

AbstractThe purposed of this research was to determine the effectiveness of remediation misconception by using  Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) model to reduce the number of the students who have misconceptions about vibration at SMP Negeri 5 Sambas. This research method was pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. This research used intact group random sampling which involved 24 students of VIII C class. The diagnostic test which consists of 12 multiple choices with open reason used to identification students’ misconceptions. Based on data analysis, there was a decrease percentage the number of the students’ who have misconceptions with an average of 75.75 %. The results of the McNemar test showed χ2score (125.83) higher than χ2table (3.84)  which means that the students’ conceptual changed significantly after the remediation activity using SSCS model. The remediation effectiveness based on DQM score with an average of 77%  (high category). The SSCS model is expected to be used as alternative remediation activities to reduce the number of the students’ who have misconceptions.  Keywords: Misconception, Remediation, SSCS, Vibration

Abstract

AbstractThis study was aimed to produce a diagnostic test in the form of multiple-choice to distinguish students’ misconceptions on the subject material vibration and waves at Junior High School Level. This study was conducted in the form of a research and development (R&D) comprising (1) preparation of test specifications which include determination of test objectives, preparation of test lattices, determination of test forms, determination of test length, (2) writing of test items, (3) checking of test items, (4) testing of tests, (5) analysis of test items, (6) improvement of test items, (7) test assembly, (8) test implementation involving students from SMPN 1 MempawahHilir and MTs Muhammadiyah Bakau Kecil, and (9) interpretation of test results. The results of the analysis showed that the developed test was based on the students’ initial conception of the vibration and waves subject from the previous research. After being tested, the product obtained validity by 0.76, reliability by 0.76, readability by 4.2, and difficulty level by 0.44. Therefore, as the product met the characteristic of the test, the diagnostic test was valid and reliable to use, of which the readability and level of difficulty were equivalent to the level of the students. This research expected to be used as reference for further research. Keywords: Development, Diagnostic Test,Vibrations and Waves

Abstract

AbstractThis researc aimed to find student cognitive ability in answering questions about the material of heat and its transfer in class VII SMP Santa Monika. The method used in this research is descriptive survey method which aimed to find information by analyzing the ability of students in answering questions in the from of test of factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge. The instrument of data collections uses 15 essay tests, consisting of 5 factualn knowledge  questions, 5 conceptual knowledge questions, and 5 procedural knowledge questions. The analysis of gender-based cognitive ability data in each aspect of the knowledge, factual, conceptual, and procedural dimensions for male students is equal to, 74%, 26%, and 7%, while the results for female students are 72%, 26%, and 12%, with the results of the average percentage of student cognitive ability being 36% for male and 38% for female students. The results of the independent sample t-test showed that there was no difference between the cognitive ability of male and female students in answering the questions which was evidenced by the tcalc value < ttable ( t0 = -1,190 < ttable = 1,675 ). This research is expected to be used as a reference for future students to improve cognitive abilities in the knowledge dimension. Keywords: Cognitive ability, Conceptual knowledge, Factual knowledge, Heat and transfer, Knowledge dimension, Procedural knowledge

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to improve students learning outcomes of heat transfer material on Class VII SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. The method conducted in this research was pre-experimental method with one-group pretest-postest research design. The sample of this research was Class VII A using Simple Random Sampling technique. The data of learning outcomes was conducted using 6 questions with multiple choices and 4 essay questions. The technique of data analysis conducted in this research was Wilcoxon Test. The conducted Wilcoxon Test showed that the sig. result was 0.000 (<0.05) which means there was such differences on students learning outcomes of science before and after learning. The improvement of students learning outcomes was 20.7 with learning effectiveness about 1.3 and categorized as high in improving students learning outcomes on Class VII A SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak, so it concluded that the use of Predict, Observe, Discuss, Explain (PODE) learning model could improve the students learning outcomes on heat transfer material. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Heat Transfer, PODE Model
