Abstract

Abstract

Research on evaluation instruments in Vocational High Schools (SMK) indicates a varied pattern. Nevertheless, there has been limited study and evaluation of the information provided in the research. This study seeks to examine research trends on the development of assessment instruments in SMK, based on published articles from 2019 to 2024, with a primary emphasis on the development of these instruments. The methodology employed is a literature review. This study involved a literature evaluation of 25 publications regarding developing assessment tools from various Indonesian journals, utilizing Publish or Perish and Google Scholar for data collection. The research indicated a decline in the number of studies addressing the creation of evaluation tools in vocational schools from 2019 to 2024. The R&D model is the predominant development model. Instruments for assessing knowledge are predominantly created. The creation of HOTS-based assessment tools exhibits a nearly equitable distribution. Moreover, the creation of evaluation tools predominantly lacks technological platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of ethical values in educational supervision using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with the PRISMA method. Based on the analysis of 18 selected articles published between 2018-2024, several studies were found showing that ethical values, such as fairness, responsibility and transparency, play an important role in strengthening the effectiveness of educational supervision. The application of these ethical principles contributes to improving teachers' professional competence, building healthy relationships between supervisors and supervisees and creating an inclusive learning environment. Nonetheless, some challenges were identified, including the lack of clear ethical guidelines, limited training of supervisors and technical barriers in the implementation of technology to support supervision. This study emphasizes the importance of developing ethics-based supervision policies, intensive training and adequate technological infrastructure to support effective supervision. The results of this study provide practical insights for educational practitioners and researchers to strengthen the role of ethics in improving the quality of educational supervision.

Abstract

Vocational learning processes are still dominated by one-way and theoretical teaching, thereby limiting the development of practical competencies and impacting learning outcomes. Trainer kits are used as learning media to support practice and reduce the abstraction of technical concepts. However, previous research findings on their effectiveness have been inconsistent due to contextual limitations, small samples, and variations in research design. This study aims to analyze comprehensively the effectiveness of trainer kit implementation in vocational education through a meta-analysis approach. A total of 436 articles were initially screened from Scopus and Google Scholar databases, and 22 eligible studies involving 24 independent samples were selected based on inclusion criteria. Data analysis employed the random-effects Hedges’ model with the PRISMA procedure, focusing on effect sizes derived from post-test results of experimental and control groups. The meta-analysis revealed an average effect size of 2.44, categorized as large, confirming the significant positive impact of trainer kits on cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. The findings demonstrate that trainer kits not only improve academic achievement but also enhance learning motivation and creative thinking skills. This study concludes that trainer kits are highly effective instructional media in vocational education and emphasizes the importance of their systematic integration into teaching practices. The results provide evidence-based implications for educators and policymakers to design innovative learning strategies and develop vocational curricula aligned with industry demands and 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Research on virtual laboratories has shown significant growth but is still scattered across disciplines and approaches. This condition indicates the need for systematic mapping in the context of vocational education to understand the development and direction of current research. This study aims to analyze international publications related to virtual laboratories in vocational education, covering research trends, highest citations, leading countries, and relevant publication sources. A quantitative approach with bibliometric analysis was used on 163 of the Scopus database from 2010 - 2024. Data were collected using the keywords "virtual laboratory" and "vocational education." Data analysis was carried out using Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer to visualize the research findings. The results showed that the publication trend fluctuated annually but tended to increase. Journal of Physics: Conference Series, publication of Potkonjak, and Spain were identified as the most influential countries. Co-occurrence analysis revealed major clusters such as e-learning, engineering education, virtual laboratories, and students. Overlay visualization shows a shift in focus from distance learning to a more interactive and contextual technology-based pedagogical approach in vocational education. These findings provide implications for research collaboration, pedagogical integration, and the development of immersive virtual laboratories in vocational education.
