Abstract

Basically, Islam is not merely a religion but also encompasses other components such as culture and knowledge that underlie it. As a religion, Islam has many dimensions that include faith, logic, economics, science and technology, environmental issues, history, and household life. Its broad scope allows Islam to embrace all differences that have become a reality of social and societal dynamics. It is not appropriate to interpret Islam using only one approach; instead, multiple approaches are necessary to allow Islam to permeate deeply and serve as a solution to every problem that arises in the realm of human life. Interpreting Islam normatively follows a deductive way of thinking, which starts from a belief that is considered true and certain, as all teachings originating from God are inherently true. Thus, they are not questioned but begin with belief, which is then reinforced by evidence and arguments.

Abstract

This research aims to examine contemporary Islamic fatwas through the perspective of national social fiqh, using a literature study approach as the main method. The focus of this study specifically highlights the thoughts of KH Sahal Mahfudz and Yusuf al-Qardhawi, two figures who represent an important approach in the renewal of fiqh to be more relevant to today's social and political dynamics. The findings show that fiqh, as a result of ijtihad, is dynamic and is required to continue to adapt to the times, especially in the context of a complex and global nation-state. The concept of social fiqh initiated by KH Sahal Mahfudz underlines the importance of making social conditions the main footing in formulating fatwas, while the idea of fiqh reality from Yusuf al-Qardhawi emphasizes the urgency of harmonization between Islamic texts and social reality to maintain the relevance of Islamic law. Both have a critical view of the fanaticism of the madhhab and both encourage a moderate approach to fiqh based on maqasid al-syari'ah which has ethical and philosophical value. Overall, this study emphasizes the need for a transformation of the fiqh paradigm from a textual-normative approach to a more contextual, solutive, and responsive model of national social fiqh to the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

Social and technological changes in the era of globalization have shifted the orientation of education towards cognitive and technical aspects, thereby marginalizing character building, spirituality, and moral values. This situation has created an urgent need for an educational approach that can maintain the integrity of values while remaining adaptive to the times. Tarbiyah Nabawiyah, as a prophetic education model based on exemplary behavior and the instillation of values, is an important foundation for responding to these challenges. This study maps the development of literature related to Tarbiyah Nabawiyah through a bibliometric analysis of Scopus publications from 2015 to 2025. The data was analyzed using VOSviewer to identify publication trends, author networks, institutional collaborations, and major thematic clusters. The results show a significant increase in studies since 2019 with three dominant clusters: prophetic theological foundations, character-spiritual strengthening, and the integration of prophetic values in modern educational innovation. Publications are dominated by Southeast Asia and the Middle East. These findings provide a structured understanding of the direction of scientific development and have important implications for strengthening Islamic education theory and practice that is more contextual, adaptive, and based on prophetic values.
