Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the impact of extracurricular activities on the academic performance of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Krian, located in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The background of this research highlights the importance of developing a relevant and comprehensive educational vision to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in preparing students to face global challenges. Education should not only serve as a source of knowledge but also foster creativity, work ethic, and broader perspectives in students so that they can make positive contributions to society. In this study, we employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design to evaluate the relationship between students' participation in extracurricular activities (variable X) and their academic performance (variable Y). The research population consisted of 37 Grade X students, selected randomly through a random sampling method. Data collection was conducted using a Google Form-based questionnaire designed with a four-point Likert scale: strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree. Data analysis was performed descriptively to provide an overview of the collected data and inferentially using normality tests and t-tests to assess the relationship between the two variables. The findings of this study are expected to provide new insights into the impact of extracurricular activities on students' academic performance at SMAN 1 Krian. These findings aim to assist the school in designing more effective and comprehensive extracurricular programs that not only enhance students' non-academic potential but also support their academic success. Furthermore, this research is anticipated to make a significant contribution to educational reform in Indonesia, especially in optimizing the role of extracurricular activities as a means of holistic student development. Through a comprehensive approach, this study strives to support the achievement of an educational vision that is relevant, sustainable, and responsive to the challenges of the current era of globalization. Additionally, the results of this research can serve as a reference for schools in creating more inclusive and student-oriented extracurricular programs tailored to the needs of the learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pelaksanaan manajemen dan digitalisasi perpustakaan di SMA Negeri 13 Surabaya dalam mendukung literasi serta layanan informasi bagi komunitas sekolah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dengan kepala perpustakaan, serta dokumentasi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perpustakaan telah memiliki struktur organisasi yang jelas dan sistem operasional yang teratur, meliputi layanan teknis, layanan kepada pemustaka, dan layanan IT. Proses klasifikasi dan katalogisasi dilaksanakan secara teratur dengan menggunakan sistem Klasifikasi Desimal Dewey (DDC) dan aplikasi SLiMS yang terhubung dengan OPAC, sehingga memungkinkan akses katalog secara online. Layanan yang tersedia di perpustakaan mencakup peminjaman, pengembalian, perpanjangan, reservasi, dan penggantian koleksi. Selain itu, program literasi Pojok Baca yang tersebar di gazebo sekolah menyediakan buku fisik dan akses ke e-book melalui barcode scanning, yang membantu menguatkan budaya literasi dalam bentuk digital dan informal di kalangan siswa. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa digitalisasi dan manajemen perpustakaan memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan akses terhadap informasi, efisiensi layanan, dan minat baca di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this article is the need to analyze the strategies for developing teacher professionalism at the elementary level. The aim of this article is to analyze the strategies, benefits, challenges, and impacts of using technology on the development of teacher professionalism at the elementary level in the digital era. This article employs a qualitative research method, utilizing interviews with teacher. The research procedure involved structured interviews with teachers involved in professionalism development, as well as data collection and analysis. The findings and discussions indicate that strategies for developing teacher professionalism through technology utilization in the context of school based management at the elementary level in the digital era have been identified. The challenges include limited access, inadequate training, and privacy concerns. However, the benefits include access to extensive educational resources, global collaboration, and increased student engagement. The use of technology also has a positive impact on improving the quality of teaching and the efficiency of school-based management. As a recommendation, support and collaboration among schools, government, and stakeholders are necessary to ensure effective and equitable utilization of technology in the context of elementary education.
