Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to show that the Reflection Pedagogy Paradigm approach helps primary school-aged children who are members of Sekami to actively engage in church life, gain a deeper understanding of their faith, and develop relevant faith life skills. By engaging children in the process of reflection, the church can create a learning environment that is inclusive, interactive, and impactful in children's spiritual development. Method: The activity model followed the dynamics of the Reflection Pedagogy Paradigm, which includes five continuous steps: context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation.  Activities took place in the Riangkotek and Lamatou Parish of Santu Alfonsus de Liquori Riangkotek. The total number of participants included in the study was 100. Activities were conducted during the first and fourth weeks of September and October 2023. Result: The results of this activity and study show that the pedagogical approach of reflection can help Sekami to understand his role as prophet, priest and king, which are the three tasks of Jesus that must be carried out by the followers of Jesus. Through this, they can recognize and explore their abilities in the fields of religion and Catholic faith. The result of this recognition and exploration can help them gain an awareness of their role as prophets, priests, and kings. It is hoped that, through this, they will gradually become committed to growing in their Catholic faith and practicing it in their daily lives as Catholics. Limitations: This study was limited to the internal community in Riangkotek village and Lamatou Parish of Santu Alfonsus de Liquori Riangkotek. It targets the theme of the commitment of Sekami children as Catholics, and uses the paradigm approach of reflection pedagogy. Contribution: The results of this study will contribute to humanities education, religious education, and character building for elementary school children.

Abstract

The transformation of digital education in Indonesia has not been seen as a need for future education services towards society 5.0. This study aims to describe, explore and analyze that technology-based education is an urgent new model in organizing the education system. This qualitative study is based on secondary data from literature studies. The research findings are that the integration of digital technology in education is an inevitable reality to build a quality-sustainable education paradigm. This integration is done through the process of transforming educational services from the classroom into a multifaceted digital platform that includes online learning, virtual classrooms, and e-books. This transformation is a consequence of the development of society towards society 5.0; the prevalence of the digital-native generation and global disruptions such as pandemics and environmental crises. Thus, the current social reality requires an adaptive-innovative education system and collaboration among stakeholders. This collaboration ensures the realization of an education system that is aligned with the complexities of the current and future socio-technological landscape, ultimately promoting inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability.

Abstract

This study examines the levels of religious tolerance among students at six Catholic universities in Indonesia and the efforts to sustain and enhance this tolerance. Employing a mixed-method approach, specifically the Sequential Exploratory model, the research begins with the collection and analysis of quantitative data, followed by qualitative data. An online questionnaire completed by 250 students enrolled in Catholic Religious Education study programs reveals that students exhibit a very high level of tolerance (90%) in terms of acceptance, recognition, respect and cooperation. However, several areas require attention: the establishment of places of worship, representation of diverse religious backgrounds in public leadership roles, respect for religious observances and willingness to engage in activities with adherents of other religions. Interviews indicate that the six study programs have implemented policies promoting inter-religious tolerance in both academic and non-academic domains. Nonetheless, tolerance has not yet become a central focus in the policies of certain programs. This study highlights the need for higher education institutions to address these issues to further strengthen students’ tolerance, despite the already high levels observed.
