Abstract

This study aims to analyze literacy activities at SD Negeri 3 Sungai Besar Banjarbaru that have been implemented for two years. These activities aim to increase students' interest in reading, but challenges remain, such as students' low interest in reading and more interest in playing than reading. To improve reading interest and literacy skills, this study used a qualitative case study approach and involved 15 informants consisting of principals, teachers, and students. Data was collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The results show that students' interest in reading is improving, although there are still some obstacles. The obstacles include limited time allocation, lack of attention from some parents towards literacy activities, low reading interest, narrow reading rooms, and limited variety of reading materials. The curriculum change from K13 to the Merdeka Curriculum also affected the improvement of students' literacy skills. Based on these results, several solutions are recommended, including increased cooperation between schools and parents, additional facilities such as a more adequate reading room, and the provision of more diverse reading materials. The research conclusion shows an increase in students' interest in reading at SD Negeri 3 Sungai Besar which is monitored through the education report card compiled by the central government as an indicator of literacy and numeracy in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning in elementary schools within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum. A qualitative method was employed through observations, interviews, and lesson plan analysis. The findings reveal that STEAM learning has begun to be integrated by connecting various disciplines under the theme of environmental care, such as recycling activities, creating cleanliness posters, and calculating waste volume. This approach encouraged students to become more enthusiastic, creative, confident, and collaborative in group activities. However, the successful implementation of STEAM in elementary schools still requires stronger support from schools and educational policies, particularly in providing adequate facilities and enhancing teachers’ competencies. Overall, STEAM learning shows great potential to support the Merdeka Curriculum while fostering 21st-century skills among students, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of tourism values and legal regulations in the implementation of Guidance and Counseling (BK) services for character building in inclusive schools. This qualitative study employs a case study design conducted at SDIT Permata Jannati Banjarmasin, involving BK teachers, classroom teachers, school principals, parents, and students with special needs as research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that BK services are well-structured and utilize educational tourism activities to instill ethical values, environmental awareness, and respect for local culture. Legal tourism regulations provide a normative framework that supports this practice, although challenges remain due to the absence of official guidelines for counselors. The study confirms that integrating tourism, law, and BK services can serve as an effective strategy for contextual and applicable character education.
