Abstract

Abstract. This paper offers “Religous Studies” approach as an alternative in religious education within universities in Indonesia that emphasized discussing religions from the various perspective of social sciences. Goals of this approach are preparing students to have more diverse knowledge on religions not limited on his or her own belief, encouraging dialogue between people of different religious beliefs, sharing spiritual experiences and engaging in religious pluralism. This approach is applied in a class that is attended by students whatever religious affiliations. Instead of applying religious education term of the government (Ministry of research, technology and Higher Education) which is insisting religious education in particularistic method, religious studies approach is more relevant prior to current Indonesia’s social and political situation. This paper argues that students  need to be introduced into more inclusive views and attitudes in their religious life. Keywords: Religious Studies, Education, PluralismAbstrak.

Abstract

This article presents data on the religious attitudes of Muslim minority communities. Similar themes have been studied considerably, but most of them are researched in the Muslim majority areas. Therefore, the author tries to delve into the same topic, but it investigates a different locus, namely how the religious views and attitudes of Muslim minority youth in Manado. The findings reveal that the attitudes and behavior of Muslim youth in Manado towards diversity tend to be conservative with scriptural and puritanical features. However, their basic attitude is highly open towards moderate values and principles, with a decent respect for individual freedom and human rights, even though norms and culture constrain them, this shows a paradox. On the one hand, they show a tolerant attitude, but on other certain aspects or problems, their attitude tends to be intolerant. In its context, the attitudes and religiosity of these Muslim youths have sparked social change in the City of Manado.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) understand the meaning of corruption from a moral and ethical perspective, 2) find out the causes of people committing corruption, and 3) identify the impacts of corruption in the 5.0 era. Data collection methods using literature research techniques known as normative juridical approaches to literature evaluation are used. Following the moral and ethical basis derived from the Qur'an, Hadith, scientific papers, books, and articles, serve as a source of legal information. The findings of this study lead to the conclusion that corruption according to the moral and ethical perspective that has been discussed in the Qur'an Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 188 is taking the property of others in a vanity and deviant way of moral and ethical rules, and this act is a sin in the view of religions. Corruption has been regulated in the universal laws of all countries in the world, even the rules on combating corruption decide the harshest punishment is death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment according to the size of the property confiscated. Whereas in Islamic law perpetrators of corruption can be punished with chopping off hands or life imprisonment or ta'zir punishment (after the amount of property corrupted).
