Abstract

Preaching in rural communities has its own challenges, including the harsh character of the community, limited facilities, and diversity of beliefs. Effective approaches and strategies are needed in dealing with these conditions. This study aims to explore the problems and strategies of local wisdom-based da'wah applied by Ustad Qasim in the Meratus Inland, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results showed several problems faced, namely: 1) the location that is difficult to reach, 2) the hard and diverse character of the community, 3) limited facilities, 4) diversity of beliefs (Islam, Christianity, and Kaharingan), and 5) the lack of public understanding of the teachings of Islam. The da'wah strategies applied include: 1) optimizing the function of the mosque and the role of the community, 2) communication and adaptation strategies, 3) educational and exemplary strategies, and 4) economic development for students. This research contributes to the development of local culture-based contextual da'wah methods with a holistic da'wah model that integrates religious education, economic empowerment, and social cohesion. Through this strategy, Ustad Qasim succeeded in overcoming the challenges of da'wah in the Meratus Hinterland, creating positive changes, and strengthening community social harmony.

Abstract

The era of modernization has presented various challenges and significant changes in every aspect of life, including education. In the context of these changes, tradition still plays an important role as a medium for conveying religious values in society. This study employs a qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach, utilizing Clifford Geertz's interpretative framework for analysis. This research aims to analyze the Betumbang Apam tradition as a medium of Islamic education in understanding and strengthening the religious values of the community at the Palajau Sacred Mosque. The results of this study show that the Betumbang Apam tradition is a reflection of cultural wealth and a strong medium in conveying religious values. This tradition reflects faith values, such as belief in Allah, gratitude and early introduction to the mosque to children; moral values, such as respect for scholars and parents; and social values, such as togetherness and friendship. In the context of modernization, this tradition remains relevant because it strengthens people's religious understanding through deep symbolism. The results of this study reinforce Clifford Geertz's “thick description” theory, showing that the Betumbang Apam tradition has layers of meaning that enrich spiritual and social understanding in the Muslim community in Palajau.

Abstract

Tradisi Pahadring merupakan salah satu tradisi masyarakat Desa Karasikan yang dilaksanakan sekitar seminggu sebelum acara perkawinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pelaksanaan pahadring, mengetahui apa saja nilai sosial yang terkandung dalam tradisi pahadring serta mengetahui faktor apa yang menyebabkan tradisi pahadring masih tetap eksis di desa Karasikan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Karasikan, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah  penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini yaitu observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi mengenai tradisi pahadring. Teknik pengolahan dan analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Tradisi pahadring ialah kegiatan rapat yang dilaksanakan masyarakat Desa Karasikan untuk menyiapkan acara perkawinan. Biasanya tradisi ini dilaksanakan pada malam hari dan dihadiri oleh keluarga pengantin dan warga khususnya laki-laki dengan maksud untuk merundingkan hal-hal yang perlu dipersiapkan untuk acara perkawinan. Dalam tradisi pahadring terdapat beberapa nilai sosial yakni nilai kebersamaan, nilai tolong-menolong, nilai mufakat, nilai ekonomi dan nilai keagamaan. Adapun faktor yang mengakibatkan tradisi Pahadring masih eksis sampai saat ini adalah karena faktor adat dan tradisi serta faktor manfaatnya. Selain itu terdapat tiga tantangan dalam melestarikan tradisi pahadring yaitu Ketidakpedulian Generasi Muda, zaman yang serba mudah serta keadaan ekonomi masyarakat.

Abstract

This article aims to explore and improve the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) by implementing interdisciplinary collaboration strategies. The research method involved in-depth interviews with IRE lecturers at ULM, gaining in-depth insights into implementing cross-disciplinary collaboration to improve professionalism. The surprising research results revealed that cross-disciplinary cooperation is essential in enriching IRE teaching methods beyond conventional boundaries. Integrating disciplines such as psychology, technology, and pedagogy allows for adjustments to students' diverse learning styles, shifting the teaching paradigm to be more holistic, adaptive, and responsive to current educational dynamics. In addition to confirming the need for continuous professional development for educators, this study also identified several challenges that must be overcome to strengthen the professionalism of IRE educators, including financial limitations, insufficient social recognition, and rapid technological development. Recommendations from this study include the development of holistic and technology-based continuing training programs and advocacy to increase social recognition and appreciation of the critical role of IRE educators in facing the growing complexities and demands of modern education.
