Abstract

Metode SDLC Prototyping terdiri atas lima tahapan, yaitu communication, quick plan, modeling quick design, construction of prototype, dan deployment, delivery, and feedback. Abstract The ability to write comprehensive literature reviews is often a challenge for novice researchers, particularly undergraduate students. Artificial intelligence (AI) is frequently used as a solution to address this challenge, but its uncontrolled use can negatively impact researchers’ skill development. Accordingly, this study aims to develop the front-end of a web-based application called MySRE, designed to help novice researchers practice writing literature reviews with AI assistance. This research employs a design and development approach using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method for prototyping, referred to as SDLC Prototyping. The SDLC Prototyping method consists of five stages: communication, quick plan, modeling quick design, construction of the prototype, and deployment, delivery, and feedback. The results of the needs analysis, conducted using the Eisenhower matrix, indicate that the MySRE requires five key features: a text editor, AI discussion, references, a co-pilot, and a concept map. Functional and non-functional testing was conducted on the implemented front-end of MySRE. Functional testing was performed using blackbox testing, while non-functional testing included compatibility testing with SortSite and usability testing with the SUS questionnaire. The blackbox testing results showed that 22 out of 23 tests were valid. Compatibility testing indicated that the website application is accessible on most common browsers. Usability testing resulted in an average score of 76.75, exceeding the minimum criteria (70) for categorizing the application as having good usability. Therefore, it can be concluded that the front-end design of the MySRE application has been successfully developed and meets both functional and non-functional aspects (compatibility and usability), making it suitable for use as a web-based application interface that can assist novice researchers in practicing literature review writing.

Abstract

Most of previous studies implemented the responsive design approach for the web-based application platform only since it had several difficulties to apply in the mobile-based application platform. In addition, the mobile application required different codebases since there were several platforms like Android and iOS. However, this study tried to redevelopment the Proxsis Workspace website to mobile application with responsive design and multiplatform approaches using Flutter Framework, in order to explore the potentials and counter the difficulties these two approaches for mobile development. In addition, we provide the detailed improvement, and the software testing results of our redevelopment app. Eight participants were participated in this study to measure the improvement of the redevelopment application. The results showed that the redevelopment version of the Proxsis Workspace could implement the responsive design and multiplatform approaches well. Furthermore, the software testing found that the redevelopment version passed the responsive design and multiplatform testing. In addition, there was significant different and enhancement of the usability score from 52.50 with marginal category to 72.81 with acceptable category. Hence, the authors suggest implementing the responsive design and multiplatform with Flutter Framework to enhance and make efficient with single code base only.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenges in high school chemistry education, particularly in understanding hydrocarbon compounds, by designing a Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) application using the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. The research focuses on enhancing the visualization of submicroscopic and symbolic aspects of chemistry, which students often find abstract and complex. Through iterative design processes involving teachers and students, the study developed an interactive MAR application that displays virtual ball-and-stick models of hydrocarbon compounds. The application was evaluated using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ), measuring six aspects of user experience: attractiveness, perspicuity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation, and novelty. Results showed significant improvements across all dimensions from the initial to the final iteration, with five out of six scales achieving "Excellent" ratings in the final version. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of UCD in creating an engaging and user-friendly educational tool, highlighting the potential of MAR technology to address longstanding challenges in chemistry education. The positive user perceptions suggest that when designed carefully considering user needs, MAR applications can significantly enhance the chemistry learning experience for high school students.

Abstract

Automatic code repair is an important task in software development to reduce bugs efficiently. This research focuses on developing and evaluating a chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting approach to improve the ability of large language models (LLMs) in automated program repair (APR) tasks. CoT prompting is a technique that guides LLM to generate step-by-step explanations before providing the final answer, so it is expected to improve the accuracy and quality of code repair. This research uses the QuixBugs dataset to evaluate the performance of several LLM models, including DeepSeek-V3 and GPT-4o, with two prompting methods, namely standard and CoT prompting. The evaluation is based on the average number of plausible patches generated as well as the estimated token usage cost. The results show that CoT prompting improves performance in most models compared with the standard. DeepSeek-V3 recorded the highest performance with an average of 36.6 plausible patches and the lowest cost of $0.006. GPT-4o also showed competitive results with an average of 35.8 plausible patches and a cost of $0.226. These results confirm that CoT prompting is an effective technique to improve LLM reasoning ability in APR tasks.
