Abstract

Safety at sea is a top priority in the maritime industry. Accidents can occur on land or aboard ships, often due to negligence regarding safety protocols. An analysis of accidents reveals that each incident has a causal factor. Ship operations involve various tasks, both light and heavy, which pose risks to crew safety. This study employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing direct observation of the ship and conducting interviews to gather necessary research data, along with reading and referencing various materials. The findings of this study are as follows: 1) Accidents involving crew members often result from failing to adhere to established safety standards, specifically, those outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) on the ship; 2) The consequences of such accidents can include eye infections caused by rust or corrosion fragments entering the eyes. Affected crew members must receive special treatment on land after initial care is provided by the 2nd officer, which includes rinsing the eyes with an eyewash solution; and 3) To improve safety for the crew, the Captain should instruct all crew members to review the procedures outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) regularly. Additionally, the Captain should emphasize these procedures during meetings and actively monitor any potentially hazardous work activities.

Abstract

Ships sailing or manoeuvring in the anchorage area, dock or jetty, or while sailing must meet the requirements and have permission from the local authority office where the ship will depart, with the issuance of a permit called a ship manoeuvring permit, the ship is considered seaworthy. An important aspect in a voyage that needs to be considered is the ship's manoeuvring ability caused by external factors such as sea waves, sea tides, weather factors causing external forces that will affect the ship's manoeuvring. This study uses a qualitative method that aims to explore the meaning, perception, and experience of individuals or groups in a particular context. The results of this study are: 1) Factors that affect ship manoeuvring include ship design and dimensions, propulsion system, rudder, cargo conditions, environmental conditions, ship speed, captain's expertise, supporting equipment; 2) Obstacles in ship manoeuvring during bad weather on the MT. MPMT XII ship include high waves and strong currents, strong winds, low visibility, decreased engine efficiency, reduced steering response, load factors, limited crew, damage to navigation and communication equipment; and 3) Ship maneuvering strategies during bad weather on the MT. MPMT XII ship include regulating ship speed, adjusting heading, optimizing engine and rudder usage, cargo management, actively monitoring environmental conditions, crew management, utilization of supporting equipment, adjusting shipping routes, maintaining communication with maritime authorities, and preparing for emergencies.

Abstract

Students' social and emotional development is an important aspect in the world of education that contributes to academic success and psychological well-being. Guidance and counseling in schools is not only limited to individual interventions but also includes group counseling, social skills development programs, and support for students who experience emotional and social problems. The method used in this study is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which involves searching, selecting, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant literature. The results of this study are: 1) Guidance and counseling significantly impact students' social and emotional development. This service not only helps in improving social skills but also plays a role in managing emotions and reducing stress; and 2) To improve the effectiveness of BK, it is necessary to increase the number of counselors, training for educators, and socialization to students and parents regarding the importance of BK services.

Abstract

Marine pollution is a condition that endangers the lives of marine life, natural resources, the health of marine ecosystems, and human health. To reduce marine pollution produced by ships, all crew members (ABK) are responsible and have the necessary knowledge and skills. Garbage Management Plan is a plan for handling waste. This includes understanding the types of waste and how to manage it effectively so that it can be separated and disposed of according to its kind. The author conducted research on a ship based on qualitative research, where the author has carried out sea practice for more than a year on the SV. Patrona 118. In this sea practice the author observed the use of the Garbage Management Plan on the Patrona 118 Supply Vessel according to MARPOL Annex V. The results of this study are: 1) To protect the marine environment effectively, the ship's crew must increase awareness and discipline in following these regulations. Companies need to ensure that all types of waste, especially plastic, are managed and disposed of properly by applicable provisions; and 2) Although the majority of the crew have understood and complied with the existing procedures, increased supervision, and training are essential steps to achieve knowledge of the entire crew and full compliance and prevention of marine pollution by MARPOL 73/78 Annex V.

Abstract

In today's modern era, maritime transportation has experienced rapid progress and has a strategic role in supporting the distribution of goods between regions. The high level of pollution in the sea area due to waste that mostly comes from ships has encouraged the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to establish a number of regulations contained in Marpol 73/78 Annex V, which of course specifically regulates various problems regarding the prevention of pollution by waste through nine main provisions. Efforts to reduce the level of marine pollution caused by ship activities require understanding, skills, and also accountability from the crew on board. The study was conducted by adopting various qualitative approaches and using descriptive methods, which of course aim to explore and describe a phenomenon in detail through non-quantitative data. The results of this study are: 1) Factors that cause pollution on the MV. Medelin First: a) Cargo; b) Activities on deck; and c) Crew food; and 2) Implementation of the garbage management plan on the MV. Medelin First: a) Comprehensive socialization of the MARPOL 1973 regulations: b) Provision of clear symbols and markings on trash bins; c) Preparation and implementation of internal ship regulations; d) Imposing sanctions or direct reporting to the company if a violation occurs; e) Increasing awareness and responsibility among ship crews; and f) Encouraging effective cooperation between ship crews in implementing waste management.
